Title: Free to all atvfloridamembers
Post by: Paul_S on August 09, 2007, 09:09:35 PM
Member Appreciation Ride 8-24 to 8-26

www.floridaatvmotoplex.com

Gates open 10 am Friday Morning, through Sunday Evening.

Come for a day, come for a weekend.

Primitive camping at the park is free, campsite and rv spaces with hook ups are available 5 minutes away (nominal costs). Want to stay in a motel? this is possible too. PM me or post here your interest and perhaps we can negotiate a group rate.

We have mud, water, creeks, 2 way family trails, UTE play areas. Want to go faster? try our fast one way trail system or either of our tracks (starter/pee-wee or regular mx).

We will allow night rides on the 2 way trails and UTE play areas (not on tracks or one way fast trails).

Why is this a member appreciation ride? Well the entry fee is the same for a day or the weekend..free. That's right, for this weekend, entry for any member of FloridaAtv.com or Florida Atv Association or atvflorida.com is totally free.

Let's start to get a count here:

I sure do wish you guys were closer. Hopefully next month.

We are planning on building replicas of this park throughout the state. This first one is a test to iron out the problems and see the pitfalls we will face. We can wait around and see what the state is going to do to help us (we all know the answer to that) or built our own facilities and sue them for our money back.

Where abouts is this place?

-Curtis-

I-75 to I-10, take exit 258 and head south on cr 53 for 5 miles. Turn right on Tower Rd, go for 1.7 miles, it runs into/changes it's name to Hike Lake Rd and runs right through the top of my property. Only point to note, is when you first turn onto Tower, immediately stay on the left side of the street as the road forks into a hunt camp.

How much insurance do you guys have? I'm feeling frisky, and I want to get some huge air.

Also, do you have a place where a medivac chopper can land, just in case?

Oh, and one more thing, can I bring my cat, Mr. Bubblesworth?

Hey Moose, your right on it.

Directions are as follows:

I-75 to I-10, take exit 258 and head south on cr 53 for 5 miles. Turn right on Tower Rd, go for 1.7 miles, it runs into/changes it's name to Hike Lake Rd and runs right through the top of my property. Only point to note, is when you first turn onto Tower, immediately stay on the left side of the street as the road forks into a hunt camp.

(I actually have an easment just before Tower Rd too. You can make the right turn at a Jim Jean Realty sign, 100 yards or so, north of Tower, but until I get my signs done, Tower is the easiest way in. If I get the signs in time, I will post it on here)

I have not had a chance to ride or be on this site for a long time and saw this. I have just talked to my son and we are going to try and make this ride. We talked about camping and staying the week end but think it is to hot. We will come over and check things out (riding and camping) on the 25th. Paul S. I don't know you but THANK YOU --- THANK YOU, and all involved in putting this together.   :) :)

I haven't been there yet, but it looks like to me, once you start going NW on Hike Lake Rd to stay to the left.
Both maps will get you to the north side of the property, with it being on the left once you get close.

We are thinking about that area.

First we have to see if the first one works, if so, then we will be looking at more.

Out of curiousity, who would be interested in a shared ownership type deal, who would pay say $2,000-$3,000 (1 time fee) for a membership to 4 or 5 parks in the state, with a small annual fee to upkeep them (perhaps $100-$200 per annum).

I know this has been suggested before, but not by us. We have already got our first one and are targeting another location as we speak.

I know I said it before but you guy's are doing an awesome job, I admire you for what your doing for all us, & also yourself.

This sounds like an all right idea, the people would be actual owners listed on the deed?

My guess would be more like shareholders of a corporation that owned the deeds to the parks.

6 Florida ATV parks, up and running could be worth a fortune.

Land is always a great investment.

That is what I was thinking, it certainly could be funny in the future for the shareholders to give the big FU to developers trying to buy the last open Florida land left. It would take a large miracle to find something down south here though, but with your track record I have no doubt it will be soon I don't have to travel so far to enjoy a motoplex. Keep up the good work and ideas.

This form of recreation has been sorely lacking things of this nature for too long.

I was looking at the weather and it says the average lows are in the low 70's at night, It's a little cooler up there than in South FL. or even in Mid-FL.
I'm sure it still gets pretty hot in the day, I'm just hoping it's a little more comfortable at night since I'll be in a pop-up, I'm gonna put a window unit in it, & have a genny. but it's a 6500 & a little loud, I kinda hate to run it at night.
I'll see if I can borrow my friends little Honda 1000, its quiet, & all I need is to run a small A/C on it, I'll bring 100' of 10/3 gauge cable w/ 110 plugs on the ends in case I could tap into somebody elses or if anybody needs to tap into mine if I run it.

I was just kinda hoping I might not even need the A/C except for maybe the day time just to cool off (leave it off at night)
I always tent camped in ONF but wouldn't go in the summer too much, except to Ginny Spgs.

It's been hovering around a 100 degrees for the last 2 weeks, a/c is a must.

Also, I don't know if anyone is bringing a UTE, but I just finished the UTE Xtreme course, it's over a mile long and runs will be timed.  It starts off going through a lake, up a canal (with a penalized bypass if you don't want to drive through the canal), tabletop style jumps, strategically placed tree trunks, cambered corners, lots of minor elevation changes, through an artificially (at the moment) watered swamp area, more tabletops, more cambered corners, through one of the mud drag strip lanes, then back through the other lane and then back to the parking area. It is awesome.

Hondas are the recommended ride, but as long as you are not worried about your time, any UTE "should" be able to make it.  ;)

Lots of trails are now cut in too.

How is it if I bring a Banshee or a YFZ or maybe both ?
The Banshee is more of a trail's(full skids) & the YFZ is more of a MX track bike.

I don't have a utility quad so I'm just wondering.

But That Banshee could go thru a little bit.

HOW HAS THE DUST OR RAIN BEEN UP THERE ?

Also,
PaulS, whatever happened to AmericanHighlander ?
I havent heard him around lately & I know the MOTOPLEX is near his house ?
Just curious.
Lookin forward to this weekend.

There are miles of one way sport quad friendly trails and an MX track and hill climbs. There are also miles of 2 way trails that either of your quads will go around fine, just have to keep the speed down on the 2 way. The Ute -Xtreme trail is for utes only, but it's just a small area of the park.

I have not heard from AM Highlander for ages.

Looking forward to meeting you this weekend.

I don't know of any off hand, I'm in Tampa, the only thing that comes to mind is Bates RV in Plant City, to me these would be a hard thing to rent because people know your gonna go play w/it in the dirt, i could be wrong though, I remember when U-Haul rented out ATC's back in the early 80's LOL.

Maybe rent an RV and trailer the bikes up there, or maybe a big U haul, then you can camp out in the back of that, but you probably want some A/C.

Ya, I got it, I wish you could go to , but there will always be other times, & since you live so close, we could car pool up there sometime.
A couple people will be getting to my house around 10:00-11:00, I'm in the Town & Country area ( Memorial & Hillsborough (where Tampa Rd.changes names to Hillsborough Ave).
I'll ask the others if we'll have time to meet up for Breakfast, theres a little Spanish place on Waters Ave. that has good breakfast for cheap, but I have a feeling were (I know I am) gonna be so excited, probably won't want to stop, but we'll see, I'll get back w/ you.
And just remember this winter we can always head up there when it's a lot cooler.

I know your bussy but I have some friends that might come up in there Diesel Pusher R.V., they stay at Yogi Bear a lot w/it & say you can ride around there, I know your place is close to Yogi Bear but would they be able to stay there & ride there quads to the MOTOPLEX ?
It would be my friend, his wife, & 2 sons.

Thanks, Kelly

How close is it? May be worth it to ask Yogi Bear if they know the neighboring land owner and get permission to ride to the motoplex. I imagine that would bring big bucks to both places.

Yogi Bear campground is 5 miles away.

You can ride on dirt roads in Madison, not sure if there is a way to the plex from there though. I will look into it and keep you posted.

Motel Numbers:

Deerwood Inn Inc. & Madison Campground. I-10 at State Road 53, Exit 258 Madison, FL 32340 850-973-2504.

or

State Road 53, I-10 Exit 25b, Madison - (850) 973-3330

Both are 5 miles away at the intersection of 53 and I-10.

I own property up there and have been staying at Yogi Bear since it opened and stayed at the Deerwood Inn campground before that.  There are a number of different land owners between the campground and the motoplex, including a couple of hunting leases.   It would be very difficult to be able to get permission to ride there.  Yogi Bear does have some nice trails on their property but they started charging additional money to ride.

I have to start by saying Paul and Dreth and everyone else who has put the time into the park thank you very much.  Paul thanks for letting us come out and ride it free this weekend.  Seemed that everyone had a good time.  Reminded me of back in the day when everyone got along and we all had fun.

OMG what a funny arse weekend.  I laughed so hard that I won't need to do AB work for a week.  Can't wait to see the pics.  I'm still in shock that we went through all 100 of the jello shots.  Y'all tore them up!

Mr. Fixit- thanks for showing us your weiner Squirt. lmfao!!

P.A.M.- great sense of humor dealing w/ everyone's jokes all weekend.

Tosha & Alex- great seeing y'all again.  had a blast last night.  glad y'all stayed at camp rather than a hotel.

Rolling Thunder nice to meet y'all as well.  Sorry I didn't get a chance to say bye this morning.

BMD, Honda328i, Crazy and crew, Jack, KB, Gator John, FlaCat, BigJohn, Rick had a blast seeing y'all again.  Hope I didn't forget anyone.

KB I can't believe you took your banshee through the mud run after dark w/o lights.  you're off the hook!

Ida thanks for letting me ride the 400.

EZdoesit-glad to have met you and hope you'll come back out and ride w/ us.

Let me just say, the motoplex is a great place to be. Something for everyone for sure, and every single person there was great to meet and ride with....haha, and have a few jello cups with later that evening. ;)

Mr Ida_Mann:

One of the best female UTE riders you will ever run with, QT314:

Mr. 450RCrazy, he has that name for a reason. ;

Might just be one of the best sport Quad riders you may encounter as well.

Ida was so amazed by KB and his serious sport mud rocket, he couldn't help but wash it for him. :)

Thank you PaulS for the MOTOPLEX !

I had a blast, everyone was nice, seen some big quads,
We were almost the last to leave & I noticed no one left no trash, it was left just like when we go there (like it should be).
I didn't count how many people on Sat , but I would guess about 100 at least.
I put that Banshee thru some sh!t before but not in a pond or thru a mud drag,in the dark after the water burnt the bulbs out, glad I keep a lid on the air-box, cause after it rained it got DEEPER.

I'm looking forward to go again, maybe not so much for the mud, but after seeing that Black & Yellow CAN-AM I sure do want a 4X4 Ute. But you can get fast on them trails, ask Ida, Jack & QT were haulin butt too but it's different on a sport, (like it's different w/ a sport in the mud)

Nice track too, next time I gotta bring the YFZ.

Met some local w/ a tattoo "CRACKER" across his belly, nice as could be.

I second all of that, now it is time to tell them about the barrel roll trick, since if I do I will be accused of saying how much better I am that everyone because I ride and can fly 40 ft, land an my thick helmetless head and jump up and keep riding. ;)
You guys came so close to having your wishes granted, oh well maybe I will trip in the store or have an accident out at Macks fishcamp tonight. I will be there at 6:00pm sharp for anyone who wants to join me.

That was funny, I laughed so hard, we were goin down this trail pretty fast, he was in front 'cause I hate sprayin people w/that Banshee, it just got done raining & Jack hits this long mud puddle & starts to hydro plane, turns sideway's, hooks up, & barrel rolls over landing on all 4 tires, he flew  thru the air almost 20' & landed in the mud, I was right behind him w/ brakes locked up. He got right back up & on it.
I wish it was on film.
That & when he missed that turn & went over the little berm thru the row of pine trees, I thought we lost him but I kept looking to my left were I thought he would be & sure enough he was about 50' away running parallel w/ us on the trail & him thru his own between the pines, he didn't think we could see him, anyway on the next corner he popped back onto the trail. My stomach hurt I was laughing so hard.

and hey, the most exciting part of the thunder ride was when I saw a flash and heard the crack in the same instant right in front of me,,,,then I come around a corner and see the entire trunk of a pine tree steaming.

I would'nt recommend a ride like I did,,,,I got a little worried I'd be Fried Id@ coming back.
