Off-Road Vehicle Advisory Committee Established for Big Cypress National Preserve

August 7, 2007 - The National Park Service has announced the establishment of the Off-Road Vehicle Advisory Committee.  The Committee has been established in accordance with the Off-road Vehicle Management Plan, 2000, which was written as a guide for the Service in management of ORV use in Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida.  The plan directed the Service to “establish an advisory committee of concerned citizens to examine issues and make recommendations regarding the management of ORVs in the Preserve.”  The Committee will offer advice from representatives of public groups interested in access issues related to the Preserve.  Members will be selected from:  Sportsmen/ORV users; landowners; academia; environmental advocates; state government; and local Tribes.  This committee is a great way to get involved and stay in tune with land access issues in Big Cypress National Preserve.  Contact the Preserve to find out more about planned meetings and activities of the Committee.  You can contact the Preserve spokesperson, Karen Gustin, at (239) 695-1103, or by mail:
