Title: Blaster big bore kit?
Post by: Fox17 on August 06, 2007, 09:56:43 AM
My cousin wants me to help him install a big bore kit on his blaster. I can install a top end but this one comes with a different sleeve not a whole new cylinder. So what procedures are required to take a sleeve out and put a new one in? Should he take the cylinder to the dealer and have them do it?

Also, his bike is all stock except for a K&N so is a big bore kit pointless unless he rejets it and gets new exhaust? He isnt sure if he wants to spend all the $ on exhaust and all that.

Without a pipe your wasting money. You must heat the jug to get the cylinder out. I did one a long time ago on an older 4 stroke play bike. I put the jug on the grill and heated it up. I put the sleeve in the freezer for an hour or so. Heating the will jug help expand the it so you can get it a part and back together. Freezing the sleeve will make it contract so the slide together very easily. Good luck.

should have spent the money on an exhaust first or at least an intake of some sort just like a car u dont build internals for a motor and leave everything else stock, ur gonna still have all that restriction from the exhaust

thats what i was thinkin. he will need to get exhaust too. ok, thanks.

and about removing the sleeve from the cylinder, how long does it stay hot enough to take out and what kind of gloves do you use to take them apart. and i dont know if they have a good grill so would a oven work? and about what temp do ya think? 400-500?

Don't make the mistake I did. I bought a pipe for a 200CC Blaster. I should have bought one for a 240CC Blaster. I did not realize they were different until after I did some resaerch.

dude......you trying to do your own resleeve... isnt going to work, if you DO manage to get the old one out you only have 1 chance to get the new one put in and lined up with all the ports or all is wasted, you guys need a good machine shop to put that sleeve in for you
