you got that right. on a quad i personally dont like ti cause i end up holding it when i dont want to and ive had some close calls like that. my mom cant use the thump thing so her quad has one. its ok but it takes time getting used to. i like mine on the dirtbike fine though. i dont know why it feels so much different.  :-\

On a UTE it is a real bad idea, and not much better on a sport. Twist throttles are for motorcycles.

Twist throttles on a quad can make it very unsafe in really extended left turns. Bikes you have to lean to turn. Atvs you turn by moving the handlebars. Not a good idea IMO...

Try working one out of a mudhole with a twist. ;)

I always found sharp right turns are worse than left turns...I have had mine on for almost 2 years and only found myself in trouble twice. The only reason it happened was because I was on stop bumps and I almost overshot the turn because the quad reared back and you can guess what happened.

But the pros of riding a twist are simple.. You dont fatigue your hand as easy. You also get one badass death grip, so if your friends try to sqeeze your hand when they shake your hand, you can make them wish they didnt.

I went to a twist for a little bit, and I got used to it fairly well. If you don't have much experience with a twister I wouldn't try it. If you do long rides and don't hit many jumps, then it would be alright. It is more comfortable when your just cruising around. But my cousin convinced me to switch back to the thumb, much better, and you can romp on it more. If your thumb is getting fatigued then take the spring out of the thumb throttle assembly so just the Carb. spring pulls it back. Really makes it much easier to push in. Also move the throttle assembly all the way to the left so  you can get more leverage, and I found it is more comfortable to tilt the throttle up, so your pushing down on it. I tried one of those mod quad billet aluminum extended thumb throttles, really wasn't any advantage over stock.

Hope this helps a little.
