I think it is going to be sick! Put some laws on it and hit the mud lol.

thats sum what of the plan, but i want it to be fast to an i don't want to just tear apart laws on the street or dirt roads and it doesn't have any rear suspension so laws are a little bit of a rough ride lol

You may want to consider a newer clutch type.. Such as a Comet power block clutch, or I think your gonna have alot of belts slipping, then replacing.
 Do you have the expansion chamber for that motor ?? Thats gonna be key to the performance of it as well.......

haven't picked it up yet, but theres one on ebay for this motor, an thanks dyno i'll look into a newer style clutch

baisically hacked away anything bent lol, headed up to chassis enginering in palm beach to bend up the main hoop an maybe do some side bars so theres less of a chance of something coming in on side impact lol

650r? youre out of your mind, that would be way to safe, step it up to a 1000cc streetbike engine.

Too heavy and 2 many strokes. Plenty of atc500r's tooling around the dunes already. At least one is on this here site, and just might be another real soon. ;)

They're in Austrailia though, so you have to communicate with them via email.

They sell plans for dune buggies and have suspension packages, but you might be able to get some input from them on your project. Nice guys, but boy do they talk funny. 

This is the company who Captain the Morgan used to build his rocket powered sand rail that he crashed into a brand new Ford F 350 pick up, when he overshot the landing and wound up in the parking lot. I think the owner of the pick up would have beat him unconscious if he wasn't already unconscious.

Is that your sand rail w/turbo that your son was wheeling for about 150 yards at Glamis, I think I seen it in the Video section on this site, maybe you could just let him drive next time, he did good.

Sweet you gotta put flowmasters and drop it down two inches off the cround on chrome 22's and nitrous bottles under the seat. dogg.

The cage looks good, man. Did you do the fabrication yourself?

Are you gonna put netting on it?

actually my dad did all the welding an bending except the main hoop, that was done buy a chassis shop in west palm beach, what kind of netting are you refering to rico? that netting there on the seat is for behind your head so that your not breaking your neck with your head swinging around lol

We use to use netting on the exterior to keep your arms from flying out and getting chopped off when you flipped.

If you look at old pictures of the Pilot ATV by honda, you see the webbing/netting.

Those little straps on the steering wheel help, though.

Bring's back memorie's here too, some friend's and I built a heavy duty Go cart with roll cage and installed a 640 SkiDoo motor in it in High School shop class. When the teacher saw and heard the potential he forbid us to ride it on school property of course once he went to the bathroom we immediately fired it up and tried to take it for a spin unfortunatelt like someone already mentioned you are gonna need to step it up in the clutch department it would only take like two or three blast before it would snap the clutch loose, scary quick an fast and no wheelie bar's, and I lived to tell about it. ;)

lol glad to see you guys are taking an intrest in this thing, jackL i'll be sure to let you know when it's going to make its debut, lol an i'm pretty sure we'll have a vid of it puttin around the house soon, waitin on exhaust so we can fire it up  ;D

I can't wait to see the video of this thing when it's done. Don't forget to video tape it's maiden voyage.

thats the update as of now, again no extension ladder, tri-fold ramp, lol but most likely this coming weekend, we will have that old 250 out and making a mounting plate and fabbing up all the goodies to drop this 440 in, we just finally got the motor running good today so it was inthusiasiam to continue this project

thanks rico, you gonna come see this thing out at holylands when it's done? we should have the motor mount finished up by either 2morrow or thursday and somewhat mounted up, whats gonna take the longest is ordering a belt and the wiring but i cant wait

Cool, I've always wanted to put a snowmobile engine in a quad, I'm interested to see if it runs cool enough, we never had any luck with our snowmobiles in the summer, you could make a short run, but then you had to shut down to cool

Have you figured out what your going to conceal the plumbing with?

The fuel and oil lines...how do they match up and do you have to rerun new ones?

oh, fuel lines, well, the stock tank doesnt fit, it hits the carbs so the fuel tank will have to be mounted up and above the motor, most likely between the roll cage, and about oil lines, it's a 2 stroke, pre mix oil an gas, basically the only thing is lineing up the clutches and making sure its not cockeyed, and nothing is rubbing. so far it seems like it will be good, we just need a new belt and the electrical is  dunno right now as i wasn't here when it was being done this afternoon

any more updates?

What type of cooling system does it use? I'm not too familiar with snow mobile engines.

I can't wait to see this thing run!

yup shes air cooled, hopefully this week she should be running, right now, i think all were waiting on is the belt, and making a fueltank mount and getting a decent looking fuel tank, and the air box for it. We also got some mud tires for it so when it's done it should have trouble getting stuck, unlike with them factory bald tires that are on it, but look for an update this week!!

well, still not completly done, but shes going out to holylands with her new shoes to see what its like in the mud tommorrow ;D

holey lands was under water today. The trails on the south side looked like canals. You will not get 20 feet down any trail out there if you dont have a 4x4 ute and most of them were stuck out there today too.
