Title: TENSIL STRENGTH OF CHAIN?

i have to replace my chain on my 03 yz450f..i wanted to know if anyone knows the min. tensil strength?..i know it has to be higher than that of a 2 stroke bike..any help? thanx-josh

No real help for you but, any name brand chain should be fine. The same mfg can produce a $39 chain or a $99 chain. Get something in the middle of the road unless you really tear them up.

PS. Any 7,200 psi chain will do an 8,000 psi chain will last a little longer but is more green. A low cost ($50) plain DID etc. 520 chain will be 4,500~6,000 psi.

ya i bought a 520-114 chain last night on ebay..it was $20 and said the strength was 6200 lbs..it isnt a name brand and it is non o-ring..hopefully it will do the job..im heavy but i dont really ride the bike to death..so maybe it will be ok..if it isnt..then i learned a $20 lesson..thanx-josh

You should be fine but you will need to lube it often.

dont make the same mistake i did. found a set of sprockets and a chain on ebay for 49.99 and thought wow i will save a litle money..... i have to tighten my chain after every ride... no fun.... just got my R&K X Ring chain today... wont make that mistake again.....
