Title: Auto painter Post by: Young Gun on June 01, 2007, 04:11:24 PM Anyone know of a good car painter/detailer. A friend of mine wants his car repainted and detailed.
Title: Re: Auto painter Post by: KB on June 01, 2007, 04:44:42 PM You can tell a lot about the type of work they do buy just looking at the kind of car's that are in the shop.
Bodyshop's are a dime a dozen. The BEST one IMO that I know of is called "EUR-AM Autobody" in Tampa on S. Dale Mabry near Britton Plaza. Most cars in his shop are $50,000. & up. But he'll work on almost anything. Another option is to look on craigslist or somethin & find someone to do your body work on the side then take it to the paint booth, you'll save some $$$. Hes looking for a professional painter, someone who does it for a living and is really good at it. When my buddy got his car it had been in a hail storm, and had a bunch of dents on the trunk, roof, and hood. He found a guy that did it on the "side" and said he would hammer out all of the dents and give it a fresh coat of paint. When he got his car back and a month had passed he heard the guy was in jail. He foind out he was ripping people off by doing this. He just used a bunch of bondo, sanded it, then used some crappy paint that wasnt even automotive. Buddy lost $900. I dont think my guy does full tear downs, I`ll check though ..kids today. I remember his saying the same thing on TV. You ain't kidding about getting what you pay for. I use to paint for them. You got a stack of newspapers and a roll of tape as supplies - no sandpaper for the $99 special...and you had to do EIGHT a day. I didn't stay long... |
