How: On 4X4's only, bring survival gear (if you know what I mean) Ex. Winch, straps, plenty of water etc.

Hey Dennis,

I was just looking at that area on Google Earth.  Are you sure you can even get across to that area and, if so, can you even move without an airboat?  I'm always up for a challenge but I don't even see how we can get across the canal to head out in the direction your arrow is pointing.

On my way to Ft Lauderdale 2 weeks ago I noticed a group of 12 ATVs and a buggy crossing the canal. Due to the lack of rain you are able to cross the canal. I stopped on the shoulder this weekend and you can see a dry trail heading south ( sort of where the arrow points)  Note: I have never taken a ride out there, don't know what to expect - All I know is that you can ride for miles. Passed by Sunday night and noticed a few trailers parked. Next time I head to South Florida I will take pictures to assure you. Thanks for asking.

I think I might have open up a can of worms now. So far we got a good crew going.

Yeah, it would be real nice to have a fresh GPS track through there when it is semi dry. ;) I predict it will be WET real soon.

JUNE 9TH WHO'S IN ????????????????

Start early morning, we need to find a station point (parking area) bring GPS, 1 or more Flash lights, plenty of water, TRASH BAGS, Coolers with food, 2 way radios etc.  Pele, forget your sport bike-you can ride on the back of my 4x4 like a b!tch.

Personally I would be happy to have a buggy with us. Also, parking will be no problem no matter how many come. ;)

No one should sweat the lack of a GPS either, you can see the cell tower on the alley for miles. Extra gas OTOH will be a good thing I suspect, and while flags are not necessary, it will make keeping track of the other riders so much easier. I like the two way radio idea, I'm going to dust off my FRS right now.
Anyone who feels they couldn't make it out of there alone should definitely have one, but cell phones work just fine out there so I guess that isn't that big of a deal. The BSO will be happy to guide you out with their helicopter in a pinch.

Flashlights, food and water....I hope everyone who runs these kind of places carries this stuff on every ride out anyway, it makes sleeping on your framed bike so much easier and enjoyable....haha

LONG straps and rope are nice to have here, above all else. Very little to hook a winch to out there in most places, and it can be hard to get close enough to pull someone out since most all the ground is mush.

We're trying to do a night run there Friday, if it does happen anyone is more than welcome to come and check it out. I'll post details later in the week when I know, and it could potentially go into Saturday morning.

If yall dont mind I will go and yall can winch and pull off of me (as long as dont get stuck LOL)

I have plenty of stuff to go all night lights, cell phone, gps, coolers, lots of tools, trash bags, food, about 100' of straps, clevises, 4 ton comealong, oil, fix a flat, air compressor, gas, ect. ,ect. LOL

We plan to ride as far as we can, so be prepared if the ride goes into the night.

If you do stick it, we will just have to hook all the quads together. That would make a great picture by itself. ;)

As for camping / riding, I have no idea what everyone is thinking, but I will ride until the last drop of fuel is burned or we make camp. Which ever comes first, on what ever date Thrumud posts.

Permits, we don't need no stinkin' permits, stickers or flags, but flags on the bikes is nice. Got some tall grass out there.

Do you think my Arctic Cat 250 4x4 will handle it? She runs hard and handles everything at L-Cross and Bamboo I call her my little tank. If you do I would like to go as well.

I'm guessing it will be fine. People have been seen on 2x4's out there right now. The rain could change that quick though, but we do have a guy with a big bad buggy to save us if every ATV were to get framed at the same time. :)

I'm hoping to get some more time out there real soon and I will certainly post about it, good or bad. I would love to post some pictures, but nearly all of them show riders without helmets....

Well looks like I have missed a bit
as since I got out of that same spot sunday ive been working like mad.
But I would ride it now cause once the rain comes I dont think we
will be able to ride much. I only know of 2 spots to cross the canel from the Alley over
last weekend  1 was about 12"-18" deep and other was 24"-36" and my bike didnt like the second
so much but I made it.

I will be riding it this weekend providing JackL and the crew are in so far looks like Sunday but maybe FRiday
nite and Saturday or  all weekend just bring plenty of gas.

JackL you still have the GPS #'s I gave you.

If you go in the 1st as we did there are a few camps one really nice one with a heli-pad outside shower and toilet ect.
and a few under construction.

Jump aboard, if you get stuck, we'll get cha out !

Still don't know if Fri night is going to happen, but Sunday sounds more than possible if it doesn't.

You are the first, but I don't see any reason why you can't join us. The only requirement for this ride is you gotta love the mud.  ;)

FWIW: On our recent ride there, the farthest we got was about 2-1/2 miles off the alley as the crow flys. Illegal made it much farther on his ride, but that is a different story.  ;)

As far as how far in we went I'm not sure but we covered around 40-50 mile that day.

I think monday I am going to ride out there and see where I can cross with the buggy.  I rather go for a ride without the buggy and get a game plan.

This is another possible path (Note Based on the 2006-07 FWC Regulation Summary & Area Map booklet) this path is outside of the Big Cypress. We must at all times remain on State Land. This path is an estimate from the bridge before the Snake Rd Station (If headed West). We can park under the bridge, there are visible trails on google earth. This ride is from I-75 to a boat ramp on 41. What do you guys think ?

Well I went out there today to see where I can put in.  It will definitly have to be the "39" on this pic, I can't get between the gard rail and boat ramp at "35".  I also put some more waypoints on there just looking around found what I think are a couple of camping spots.  I will have to bring the garmin and load it on Google Earth when we get back  :) I can post the acual GPS locations of them if you want just let me know.

Well me and the gang rode out there all weekend
some pretty dry stuff and some mud here and there.

If you got a big bike it can be hard or impossible to go in at the 35.7 mm
but with the water there at the level it is you need the bigger bike.

We went in at mm39 and just rode left side trails in morning and then the ones to the right after.

I've been in that area with a BIG buggy in the past. Even when it's dry there are still bad areas with no bottom. Be careful out there if you decide to take your buggy.

Oh I will, if I am the only buggy I take it real easy.  I will probley just drive around and take some videos and pics of everyone.  See if I can get something incriminating and post it on here  >:D LOL I will be nice.  A friend of mine might go he is not sure if he can get off though... but if he goes... I've been noticing how dry it has been, and the pictures from macks shows this drought ain't over by a long shot. I was hoping the area took rain this weekend, but I guess not.
How far did you get? I was telling a guy who knows the area well my plan to reach 41 and he said it wasn't possible on a quad. I'd say it will be soon if it isn't already now.

Did you check and see how deep the boat ramp is at 35? I bet you can ride right in there with almost anything. It can't be very deep.

LOL I probley could but if there was just one hole I could fall off into... my luck I would, and that would suck to start the weekend off that way.  I really can only go in about 4 to 5 feet of water and 5' is really pushing it.

No way that is five feet deep there. It is also hard bottom. ;)

If i get a chance I will be going soon and I will ride the little quad down it if it isn't too deep...after I walk it. I have been known to be real wrong about how deep the water is....hahaha.

If the rain doesn't start soon, it isn't going to be an issue.

We need 60"+ to get where we need to be. I don't care if it rains from tomorrow all the way to the 9th, it will be ok I believe. Worse case if that happened is we enter the Holeylands from the alley. ;)

I will start packing this weekend in between the rain.

I am going to start getting ready when I get home tonight, I am ready to ride, I have to check all my tools, parts, ect. ect. and then packing :-)

Well I rode it Saturday nite and it was wet the entire area was flooded with about a steady 6"- 12" of standing water and natuarlly alot deeper depending on were you ride and some spots are downright nasty.

I have to say if it stays like this or worsens it ill strictly be a 4x4 ride  NO sport bikes as they wont even make it across the canal
last week befor the rain at 39 there was a good 20' of bare dirt to walk across the canal now or Saturday there was no bare area of the canal and its shallow point was about 18" id say.

The boy says he wants to go so I think I'm going to take the wheels off the Prairie and put them on the Outlander.  I heard they are the same pattern.  If not, I'll just take the Prairie.  Dennis!  Hey, bud, what time?!?!?!

Beats getting dusted!! I doubt it will rain before the ride and it is like a sponge so I'll bet it will be OK. You guys made it out and back right after the rain. Lets also remember, it is 92 degrees all this week with no clouds in sight. The ride was sold as a hardcore swamp ride anyway....We get another 8" and all bets are off!!!

I don't think a sports bike is going to make it, sorry  :(  well all tools,straps,cleves,spare parts, and gas cans are loaded.  Tomorrow I am going to pick up drinks and food, start loading 2 folding Chairs (in case we are all stuck LOL) table (maybe) coolers and maybe a little grill I am not sure about that yet I have to see how much room I got and start prioritize LOL

You guys are going to KILL me !  I know I started this ride a while back and unfortunately my wife is not doing very well. I had to take her to the hospital today due to major abdominal pain, this happen a while back and doctors think it's her gallbladder. Doctors will do some test tomorrow. If she goes for surgery I won't be able to make it. If you guys go, sling some mud for me.  Sorry guys  :(

I say we push this forward. I can probably make it for a few hours if everyone is going, but I think we should wait for the creator of the idea to be available. I would rather go make the money I fell into, but the call of the swamp and everything.. ;)

well I am going to go, I have spent too much money and time packing not to go.  I am going to try to be out at "39" around 9AM.  I have one other small buggy going with me so when he leaves I have to leave I am not going to ride by myself, thats when you get stuck.  Well if anyone is going I will see yall out there.

Well I am back already, we left there about 2PM, I got out there and I was overheating, I got stuck and saw that one of my electric fans were not working, so then I spent the couple of hours fixing another fan on the radiator but with no sroud, so I ran a little hotter than usual but we made it back, I don't think it is going to be able to ride out there much longer it is getting real nasty out there, I had to stay on the sawgrass all the other places were just too soft, anyway just thought I would post what happened, sorry I didnt take any pics, nothing really happened.  Till next time.

Hit the spot today. The first 1/2 mile is rough, but it gets ok after that. Very cool in fact. Much more rain and their will be no passing through the canal. I sunk my bike in deep water on the way out, but all is good now. ;)

  If you think a ride in the everglades is hardcore you need to get out more.
