Title: Macs fishcamp report for UTE guys, and alligator lovers. :) Post by: JackL on May 05, 2007, 03:29:55 PM Lets start with this. This was on the way south, about 2 miles south of the boat ramp.
(http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/th_MVI_4577.jpg) (http://s56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/?action=view¤t=MVI_4577.flv) Last video my camera could make since I broke the screen just after this. Such a shame. As you can see, I test the waters. :) Caught this guy on that pass... :) Catch and release today. LOL (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/IMG_4655.jpg) [Skipping other events for now] Now I am jumping to the return part of the trip, because it goes with this story. This is the same 'canal' but from the other side. I was blowing up the trail, and to the left, a big ole gator was sunning himself. He dropped a load when I hit that water at about 25 and jumped three feet in the air. I tried to track him, but lost him. I took 30 pictures of the water to try and spot him, no luck. I was pretty far ahead, so when the guys caught up I told them, and they laughed at me and said I was FOS. (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/IMG_4642.jpg) So apparently the next guy through ran it over, The gator went to the bottom....It took a major swing at him with his tail. Nearly got my buddy. Here comes the next guy, gator is pretty pissed now. (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/IMG_4647.jpg) I told you some of the guys I ride with are crazy...Here they are in a stare down. (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/staredown.jpg) Now I'm thinking I'm riding with Bergeron, is this guy going to wrestle or molest the big guy?? (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/IMG_4651.jpg) Apparently not. :) Run away, run away... :) (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g167/kr-yppy/macs5507/runaway.jpg) Remember, it is illegal and dangerous to molest or harass alligators. This guy was just plain mean, I wish I had video so you could hear him hissing. Thank goodness it wasn't a female with babies, and just a young buck in heat! LOL, Believe me, this is only a small portion of the trip. Plenty was NOT fun, another few miles south it got ugly, very ugly. When four bikes are all stuck at the same time in knee deep muck you know you might be pushing it. :) I wish the camera could still do video at that point, because I used the rope trick to be the first one out while those guys were pushing and pulling by hand like crazy. I on the other hand, tied off a long rope I carry to a tree (Thank goodness it was there) and threaded it under the bike. I wrapped it around one of the back tires and got them spinning real slow. When I pulled on the lose end of the rope, it gripped hard and the suction broke. Yanked me out like nothing I have ever seen, and I have done that trick before. Instead of a new electric winch, I am buying some super strong, extra long synthetic rope!! Funny you ask, I was just thinking of throwing in a CV and going back at dusk, but I am at 0 hours sleep over three days so I might just pass on that. Man, once you've slept on a generator, a bed or anything else just doesn't cut it. I might fix the bike today and ride tomorrow. I'm not sure, once experiencing real sand, deep woods swamping isn't as much fun as it use to be. Cool stuff out there to see, but the bugs are thick again and that ride was a real workout. Doing doughnuts by the boat ramp is fun for five minutes and their are not really any cool trails there, The dyke is boring and illegal, and if you go over 5 on the fish camp road , they will shoot at you. I wish the Holeylands was open, or my top secret riding area was closer. I'll send a PM next trip out, best to just check in 'where to ride', when you see my name in HERE anyway, it is either a trip announcement or pictures from it.
