theres still good riding left, just have to know where to go.
every weekend if you take us1 south to cardsound road in florida city, make a left on cardsound and make a left on the first dirtroad it opens to a huge area. mostly mud/trails. on a normal weekend there are 50-60 bikes out there.

sounds like a new place  to ride . we all are running out of places to ride . try for this weekend . thanks for the info

How far is this place in Florida City from West palm Beach??

its about a 2 hr drive. and yes, its worth it.

Is anyone hassled out there by the cops? Or is it at least semi "legal"

nope, its legal. been riding there for 3 yrs, never once seen cops.

Can you give me some basic directions from the Florida Turnpike??

How big is this place?? You mentioned 30-40 bikes there on weekends ...Is there enough room so everyone doesn't crash??

What type of terrain ?? Is it good for sport bikes??

its mostly mud/trails like i stated above.

take turnpike south until you get off, like your going to the keys, when you get to cardsound road[about a mile after you get off the pike]make a left on to it, then make the left on to the first dirt road and go down about 20 yards and it opens up. it is very a very big place to ride.

 The place is called the humps. I myself have been going there for over 17 years.I have never had the first problem with cops or ppl for that matter.I havnt been in a while becuase i sold my 4x4 and now mostly piddle on mx tracks

ok we live in the lower fla keys as we r aware there r no places to go down here but card sound rd sounds great do u need a 4x4 quad to ride or will a 2x4 do just fine
we have 2 bombadairs rallys 200 2x4 and 1 outlander max 330 4x4.
please let us know and we are new to atving
i had an atc kawasaki 110 3 wheeler but that was back in the 70's
any help would b appreciated
and any trails to ride on or to go camping and atving.we have a 35 ft 5th wheel with the door ramp in the back

Hey MudSplaher,you don't have to have 4x4 to out there.The area is simular to the Squares(Bad Luck).It is all in grids of dirt roads.The riding is being do in between the squares of dirt roads.On the weekends at night there are a bit of racing quads.About camping,I've camped out there and hunted,but I would go out for a ride before taking the camper.There are no open camp grounds.More like find a head out in the woods and pitch a tent.Finding spots to ride?Try to hook up with someone who's been there.The place is pretty big.Especially if you go to the west of US1.            Goodluck :)

Hey, I live in South Florida and the riding off card sound road is real good. But if you never made a Turkey Point Run, you got to do it. Its some nasty trails but there real fun. :)

Very few people know of the Point run. It can be a real challenge at times. The west side can be a real "B" if you know what I mean.

Anyone planning to be out there this Saturday?? We may drive down from Ft. Laud.

Trying to get a ride together at the hump for this Sunday. Will post more when we know.

Well, if any of you go riding at the Hump this weekend, it should be good. It's raining right now, so if you're riding a 2 wheel drive, look out.

Mudsplasher, just take the stretch, it's faster and easier.

as to the cops well hubby did chat with them.....they said as long as ya stay off the paved roads   and dont go on any property that says   no trespassing then they dont care

hey i went to day whit a few sport bikes and a buggy and it was fun a lil mudddy thow my friend was shoting up a roster tale on a lil lt 80 that was at lest 5 feet in the air out  there in a  marshy place off of one of the trials

I was out there today with some 4 wheel drive bikes and we went through some nasty stuff

Ok.. SO I went today to the "HUMPS" I am not sure if I was at the right place. I took the first left off of Card sound road. It was a gravel road with lots of puddles. On the left side was alot of MUD and woods with old rusted abandon cars. I could not go too far in, as I buried myself a few times and did not want to get into something I could not get out of. I saw a few random bikes and quads, but most groups seem to have been in the woods deeper.
I ran across a mom, dad and son on quads on my way out. Hope they had fun!  I really went tdown to see how it was and will go back again with an extra change of clothes and a buddy to pull me out. Anyone else wanna go from Ft.Lauderdale area..let me know.

We also made it yesterday and it was a blast. Rnkoutlaw, his very cool girlfriend, 02yamahabigbear400 and myself met at the scheduled time and had a great day of riding. We all got stuck several times thank god for the winches. We will definately have to do that again. I met three very cool people to ride with. This site it a great place for that. Sorry we missed you guys 300exstangboy and mudsplasher.

Hey guys just woke up and man is my body sore from all that riding. Ya sorry we missed you guys. But as far as the sport bike goes rnkoutlaws buddy was with us with a honda 250 shaft drive and was going through what we were going through. It was funny to see him get stuck and just pick up the rear end and drop it to the side and drive off. As to were we have to winch ourselves out. It was a great day from start to finish (10:30 until 6) We had a lunch break in between and met new friends. Next time I have off I can meet you guys again for another good ride.

RnkOutlaw, what happened to you, we were following you then one of use got stuck, I looked up and you were gone. We will be back down again to ride, I just do not know when, next time there will be about 12 bikes with use. Azzman

I can't stay too late cause i have a meeting for work at 8am on sunday.

Tosha you will definetly need someone along with you that has a winch. Even someone with a strap might have trouble. Its sticky mud but its fun. We were there sunday and had a blast.

Where is the correct and most popular place to park?
Last time I took the 1st Left off of Cardsound Rd. It was a dirt/ gravel road with HUGE puddles. I only could go down about 1/2 mile, as one puddle was about 100feet across and I didn't want to sink my Mazda 2x2 truck. Is ther anoither parking place? How do you get behind the race track?

Hey we do ride late a night but we dont have a yellow radio, I know who your talking about. My bike is yellow and mostly everybody we ride with has a Honda, I have a yellow honda with a pretty tall snorkel

We rode out in Florida City this weekend and its pretty nasty, the water is gone and the mud is reallly hard to get through, if we didnt winches we would still be out there. I hope will get some rain down here, we need it.

mudsplasher, head north on the stretch until you get to us1. make right on to cardsound rd. and make a left at the first dirt road. your there. the water is gone. you dont need a 4x4 to drive there. there is a mazda miata that regularly goes there.

lol 95 i know how to get there from this way i was asking about the way behind the speedway  how to get there from down here to behind the speedway but thank you for the info anyway

I'm a newbie with the quad scene. I'll be getting a 2005 Raptor 660r in two weeks. I've been trying to hook up with people that go riding at places that are close to me (Coral Springs). I would drive to Cardsound, Big Cypress, etc, etc. I just want to find places and cool people to ride with.

Humps: Take turnpike untill it ends. You will be in Florida city. Go south on US1 and take cardsound road to the left about 1 mile after you get off TP. make left into first dirt road and go in about 1/4 mile. You will be at the humps.

its sooo dry out there a rapter or any bike that runs can go pretty much anywhere now. :)

For some reason I think sport quads are not allowed. The tires are not fat enough (front of course)

If you are a mud and water type of person do not go to the hump, it is like riding trails with bad bumps all day long.

 i found mud out there at the mud pit whit the two cars one filped over it was up to my chest (im 5,3) its real nasty you think its dry and its cracked over on the top but its real deep

I would like to get a group together to go to MSG on the 18th, 19th and 20th. We could pick a day best for most and try to meet up. Those that can't go all weekend.

how about a tentative date to go to MSG on Saturday 2/19 in the a.m.. I usually pay the 15 bucks for the day and camp over night and leave on sunday morning. We could meet up somewhere out by my crib in royal palm. And then take southern blvd. on out to Canal point and on up to Okeechobee and then over to MSG. How does that sound?  

That sounds like a plan. I posted it in group rides also so we will see what the responses are. I could meet the more southern riders near the turnpike and then we could all convoy to Royal Palm and the to MSG.

I ussually go on Saturday morning, pay for the day, and campout overnight and leave on Sunday morning. If I was single I would probably stay all weekend.

they have a couple of shacks set up with showers and a couple of hoses to wash down your vehicle. water is coming from somewhere other than the city I can tell you that. don't drink it. might even be canal water. better than nothing. I have heard people say it makes them itch. pretty sweet huh? I rode last time until about 1 a.m. Saturday night. It was pretty crowded last month.

Ohh yeah are there places to eat around there or do you have to bring your own food.

ussually what I do. I bring ten gallons of tap water to freshen up a bit before sleeping. By that time I have consumed a large number of units and could sleep in a mudhole without it bothering me anyways. LOL

used to have a nice mess hall type place. hurricanes tore it up. they have a trailer/tent set up selling food and drinks. had a hamburger from there last time and it was the worst cold soybean burger I had ever ate. The smoked pork was not going to be done for two hours.    

So are there places to eat outside MSG, or should you bring your own food.

seems like you would have to drive back to Okeechobee city to get something to eat. There is a restaraunt down the road about 5 or six miles by a rv park. Never been there though. I bring my food and cook out.  

Thats probaly the best idea, this way you wouldnt have to leave.

Bring some clothes, water, food,drinks, tent, gas ect. I think that I will go on Sat. and camp until sunday.

Nah it is closed. Well, not closed but extremely heated up with cops.

The hump heated with cops??? went out the 2 weekends ago no cops and a few weekends before that and i have friends that ride every weekend and they don’t see any cops I am  going out there tomorrow if u want to come pm me .

yes, it is opened I just started a new thread about this place.  I would love to know who got their machines impounded. Isn't it funny how its always a friend or some guy I heard about and never actually that person that something happens too? I've been riding it relentlessly and to date no ill begottens.

I'm not sure if it's still open, I went once and it as alot of fun, good spot.  I rode my dirt bike there with a group of ATV's and did fine.

i ride 41st got a couple people going to 8th and 137 to see how it is i dont like it cause its to rocky. might not be going i wanna fix all the bushings and little things on the bike, even got offered a nice amount for my bike and dont know what to do lol if i sell its for the new renegade 1000  ;D

The back is still too wet, but the right is good about another week with no rain and it will be perfect.

yea we kind of got out own little trail we made out.  to the north of the power plant then along the power lines on the east side of the lake.  Still too wet for us to get out to the back trails, even with 31's and 29.5's and snorkels on all the bikes :)

well these guys are killing 41st street, racing on the road, driving around like crazy on the shell road.  I wish some people would just have some respect for the land and not do that stuff.  They are causing way too much attention to it.

Going out to 41st on Sunday with about four other people around 930. Look for blue silverado with yellow Can am X mr!

we might go out then too...we need to regulate it some and not let these people race on the street.  It's killing this place...

well MDPD has been out there for the last few days citing street racers, but at the same token whoever else is there is asked to leave.  Not to mention people are leaving trash everywhere...it's like the same old story just a different place.

It's futile down there, for sure. The residents hate the police because the police only respond when residents complain. The mutants hate the police for responding to calls from residents. SOS.

Well PD has been great with us, unfortunately if they ask one person to leave they have to ask everyone to leave.  It's tresspassing no matter what...they are just tolerant of it.

We have talked to several different officers on all occasions, and even FWC twice, all very interested in the bikes and understood we are not the problem etc...they all expressed if we do not ride on the road and litter we are more than welcome there.

jrpro, the cops would not be there unless they are called.  all the street racing is what causes the attention. the litter is just the result of not having a managed ,legal , place that would dispose of the trash.  otherwise some people just say the heck with it and dump it there ,since there is no one to do or say anything about it.   in the end the fact is south florida riders have done this to themselves.     

Well I for one know I do not litter, however maybe we need to get devils mud garden to open on the weekends! I would gladly pay a yearly fee for some good clean mud and trails to blast my way threw.

cgmudder, when we go ride we hang the garbage bag on our vehicles and clean the area we are parked at, so if a cop shows up he can actually see we are not littering the place.  but 90% of the people are not as considerate as you,jrpro, and myself. if you go to a legal ,managed place litter is not an issue. atleast not as bad as illegal riding areas.  If you want to see an absolute mess check out the 137 ave & 8st area where the paintballers set up a field and have destroyed a nice clean wooded area.  Its now a dump, filled with empty paintball boxes, pallets and atleast 5 tons of garbage everywhere.  I would line them all up and shoot them for an hour with their own paintball guns. then make them clean it all up!!!! :gh :F :gr

There is a detention center about a mile east of the parking area there.  Marked cars usually stop by every once and a while to check it out and kick out the racers...like I said, riding there is TOLERATED but it was clearly stated to us it is NOT legal riding.  It is still trespassing.

I kindly told him there was no, "No Trespassing" signs and asked him who's property it was (this officer said private property)...did some research and on one side is FPL (substation) and the other is enforced by FWC, couldn't find any more info than that.  Could be someones actually property but seems like state owned.  It leads back to 3B...which we are NOT allowed to ride/hunt on. 

go to miamidade.gov then go to property search on the left and zoom in to the property. you can see who owns what property and any other property anywhere in Dade county. all that property is probably owned by South Fla. water mgmt. and yes FWC patrols it.   

I can't get it to pull up that area, closest thing I found is the 5000 block of 147th ave, which is east of 147th ave from 41st to 137ave (the turn in the road, about 6200 block), and that is state owned...

I'm still doing research on who actually owns the land, you can only search by owner, folio number, or address...and I can't get any addresses to work, it doesn't pull up.

FPL owns 4100 to 5000 nw 147ave to 136th ave, about a mile long strip

It will not pull up any address west of 147th ave...I tried 157th ave...150th ave...nothing

if you click on the little sign above the map that looks like a hand you can drag the image. you should be able to see every property in Dade county only. Most of the land people ride on is not owned by water mgnt. and that is why metro dade police comes out there and not FWC.

I was doing that, it doesn't show each owner by the map.  It makes you search by owner, folio, or address then it just shows the location on the map.

FWC has made an appearance out there quite a few times now

Well the substation is FPL obviously...and everything west of there just the substation wide is FPL.  To the north (riding area) is Florida rock industries and it is listed as vacant.

To be honest, websites like these contribute to the demise of good places to ride. Once the word gets out, your friend tells his friend, and soon enough, half of miami is ruining the area. Put it on the web, great idea. Heck, i really dont want to tell anyone where i go riding on this site, not because of you members, but because them cubans can log right on. 41st was great. Now the water district is purposely flooding it, and the cops are kicking people out. this sucks

41st was horrible way before anyone ever posted it as a place to ride on this site...trust me, I avoided it 5 years ago when we were still riding 8th and krome.  Now it's the only place that you even have a chance to ride.

The problem at 41st hasn't been riding, it's high school kids doing bonfires and littering. 

They kick out the street racers that race sport bikes on the street...i've been there plenty times when there was 20+ trucks there and no street racers, we rode all day.  Same token i've been there with 2 trucks, 5 people racing on the street and the cops come in 5 mins. 

I hope they arrest all the street racers!!! :F   if the dragstrip (countyline) on krome and US27 Was NOT open then I could understand why they go out there and race. but having a legal place to street race with lights and timing and no hassles DOES NOT make sense why these people race out there :dunno.gif  I love the fact most MORONS here in south florida dont like woods(dry) trail riding and have managed to not even venture into the trails I ride. Im keeping them to myself cause theres a good chance they would screw it up. ;)

i was out at the hump this weekend and the water is almost all gone .... expect for the normal spots that drop deep ....split pine and twin lakes will always have water and the pass going next to the hump out to the parrie is drying up as well ....parrie is rideable too now .....im gona start taking the truck on palm drive runs here shortly with a few others ..........as aways see yall out there and be safe ....dont race down cardsound RD two accidents last weekend  that ended up friends in the hosptial ....
