ANY ONE EVER GO OUT THERE? IM THERE EVERY WEEKEND. MY BROTHER HAS A TRUCK OUT THERE IF YALL WANT TO RACE IT. LOL. ANYONE AROUND MIAMI SHOULD COME OUT. ITS FUN. 10 BUCKS TO WATCH(AND YOU CAN TAILGATE RIGHT BY THE TRACK) AND 20 BUCKS TO RACE(ALL DAY LONG). THEY LET YOU RACE PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING YOU WANT. ATV'S  DIRT BIKES, TRUCKS, THEY HAD A DUMP TRUCK OUT THERE, SHIFTER CARTS. YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY SOMETIME. ITS RIGTH OF HIGHWAY 27 JUST NORTH OF CHROME AVENUE. THE OLD OPE LOCKA AIR STRIP. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD TRY AND GET SOME PEOPLE INTERESTED.

Isn't that place posted No Trespassing? I thought they flew RC planes there??

NO. THE GUY THAT OPENED UP THE MX PARK GOT WITH DADE COUNTY AND THEY LET HIM BUILD A 1/8 MILE DRAG STRIP THERE. THEY ARE OPEN ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS AT 5PM AND SUNDAY FROM 10-6. FRIDAY AND SATURDAYS ARE FUN THEY HAVE LIGHTS UP AND THERES A LOT OF PEOPLE THERE. IF YOUR DRIVING BUY YOU CANT MISS IT.

Wow, maybe those people are more cool than I give them credit for. Time will tell.
I'm still bitter over the fact one of their people shot a rider, I'll have to check it out I guess.

THERES A LOT OUT THERE. THERES YOU CLASSIC CARS(MUSTANGS, CAMAORS). THEN YOU GOT HONDAS TOYOTAS MAZDA MISTUBISHI. ALOT OF MOTOR CYCLES ON SATURDAYS. ITS A BIG MIX OF EVERYTHING. ITS A PRETTY FUN PLACE. KEEPS A LOT OF PEOPLE OF THE STREETS FROM RACING.

YEAH THEY ARE PRETTY COOL OVER THERE AT THE DRAG STRIP. NEVER BEEN TO THE MX PARK MYSELF. HE IS TRYING TO GET A BUNCH OF LAND TO OPEN FOR TRAILS OU THERE BY THE DRAG STRIP TO. I HEARD THOUGH THAT THEY SHOT A RIDER BECAUSE HE WAS TRESPASSING AT NIGHT. I KNOW ITS NOT AN EXCUSE BUT MAYBE WHOEVER DID IT IS JUST A COWARD AND GOT SCARED.

No need to rehash all that, if he is keeping these street racers off us27 and Krome, and the rest of our roads, more power to him. He is doing a good thing.

Unfortunately I'll be out of this dump of a city for the weekend, so no pictures or report from me.

1/8TH TRACK VERY PRIMITIVE, GOOD FOR US LOCALS THAT DON'T HAVE ANYTHING BUT NOT WORTH THE 3 HOUR DRIVE.  MY .02 CENTS

YEAH ITS NICE FOR LOCALS. BUT I DONT THINK ID DRIVE 3 HOURS FOR IT. IM ALWAYS OUT THERE AT NIGHT AND ILL BE THERE FRIDAY NIGHT WITH MY TRUCK AND MY BROTHERS TRUCK. BUT I DONT TAKE PICTURES. DONT EVEN HAVE A CAMERA AND MY PHONE SUCKS FOR PICTURES.

Not intended to be negitive but Ive been to this track before. I wouldnt race on it if I had a car, it is a very tight track not much room for error. First time I went there a car got squirley and lost it flipped like 8+ times and went into the other lane. Thank god the driver was ok and running by him self. Then it took like 30 mins for the rescue crews to get there and then they had to go all the way around the track because the fire engin wouldnt clear under the wires above the christmas tree. Dont get me wrong its awesome that people have a place to race besides the streets and all but its pretty dangerous.

YOU HAVE A POINT....ITS JUST LIKE MYSELF OR ANY ONE ELSE GOING INTO SOMETHING NEW. THEY DONT KNOW UNTIL THEY EXPERIENCE SOMETHING. ITS ALL NEW TO THEM BUT THEY ARE GETTING BETTER. FOR ANYONE LOCAL. YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT. IT IS TIGHT BUT ITS FUN AT THE SAME TIME. ALOT OF FAMILIES OUT THERE HAVING ENJOYING THEMSELVES.

lol sorry about the caps. i keep it on for the program i use here at work. for me the ride is only about 20 minutes. well worth it though. ive always loved the rce track, my dad use to race at hollywood and moroso. my ucle who lived int he trailer park right there of 27 use to race also.

sorry i forgot to mention i dont live in dunnellon right now. i live in miami. right off exit 13 ont he turnpike. i know my profile says dunnellon.

do they enforce age and liscence and such for quads? i get  my licscence in june but i would love to run my shee or my ds 650

Ha, I doubt it. That strip is sure narrow.  You would need big cahones to try a pair of 9 second cars there..

Nah it wasnt intended to be racial, it was pretty cool but after the guy wrecked and such we didnt know what was going on or if he was ok for a while since everything was in spanish.

oh ok. its just the way things are. its still fun ....to me anyway. im out there every week.

Yea it was still fun and some pretty nice sand rails were out there. Unforunitly we didnt know it was a special tuner event when we went out there and my dad and my dads friend had to pay $20 just to watch. :-\ Other than that there were some pretty cool vehicals out there and stuff, once they get settled and learn the ropes and what not it would probably be a cool place to go.

yeah its definatly getting better. starting in june they are going to start bracket racing and all that good stuff.

narrow yes, primative yes, A DRAG STRIP IN DADE COUNTY HELL YES.........   immokolee was the same way in the begining now it might be going to 1/4. i was out last sunday watching people run and this track was orginized they had guys laying VHT for bite, they had an ambulance on site and officials seem to be on top of things..  i have a deep drag racing back ground and have traveled around to tracks in various place and well  we gotta start somewhere.  i watched a rotary hit a 6.1 at 130mph ,   on a crappy track thats impressive.   if your set up for 8th mile or wanna have fun this place is great. if you want 1/4 mile have a nice drive.  here are a few shots of the track...

i agree. its getting better as time goes on. i was there friday and races my slow dodge ram 4.7 but was cutting some good reaction times. .500   .505   .535 out of 16 passes 13 of them were in the 500 area. thats good for a stock dodge. i found i had to leave on the very end of the second yellow in order to cut a good light. now i need to get my throttle body spacer and my superchips programmer and hope fully see al little difference.

We used to race a few years ago, actually my husband made the last pass down Hollywood Moroso.  That track was awesome.  We used run at Moroso WPB, but been 4-wheelin more lately. 

But kids also need a safe place to drag race, it does keep them from racing on the streets.  Hopefully w/this track it will lead to bigger and better things for South Florida.  You know someday they should do something with Homestead, it would be awesome to have a professional drag track there, so we would not have to go to Gainesville to see professional Drag Racing.  I would surely go to that....

speaking of pro, supposedly nhra was dropping moroso as one of there santcioned tracks because of the poor track quality and facilities. They are supposed to re do the strips surface and race is it 6 inchs and improve facilities, i know it most likely won't be a pro track but atleast NHRA has looked and realized the poor conditions that racers have to use. They are also adding an R/C track supposedly, but this all got post poned from this summer to "later on" b moroso as they recently raised track prices to "fund" this project, would be nice to have a pro track close to home

very true cheropride.  hey does your husband remember rick braswell or keith wilson. thats my dad and my uncle. they use to race out there all the time unitl the track closed down.

The names sound familar, I will check with him, I am really bad at names.  Do you know what type of cars they used to drive?

yeah up until about 6 years ago my dad still had his 69 camaro. they raced super pro i belive. scott(keith) had a 67 camaro also.

It's going back pretty far, I can't remember if Chuck ran Pro or Super Pro, I forget the dial-in indexes, like I said goes way back.  Husband's name  is Chuck Petrone, he ran a Blue 72 Olds 442, back then it was run low 11's.  Then we started to run at WPB, he won track champion in 96.  He has a alcohol motor in now, and running low 10's.  Full body, not gutted or anything.  We still have the car, as a matter of fact, he bought the car when he was 15 years old.  Sweet looking car, I keep asking him to put a street motor back in it, so I can drive it.  I love that car....   ;)

Ask you dad and uncle if the knew him.  I was think scott (keith) was someone else, but I think he ran a Chevell.  We used to have a blast back then...

scott died a few years ago at holey lands. he hit a piece of re-bar sticking up out of the ground. but ill ask my dad. he may have had a chevelle back thenm i dont klnow. my dad tells me about all these cars he use to have like he had a new one every month. lol. that olds sounds sweet. my dads camaro was runnin 10's and 11's back then but before he got rid of it it was running 9.30's  all motor.

i just talked to my dad he said the names sounds familier. lol. i tease him all the time. i have a baby on the way so i call him grandpa. i said grandpa you rememner back in your hollywood days? he said yep sure do . them were the good ole days.  but hes said that names sounds real familier.

Wow that's really sad about Scott, I had no idea.  I for sure talk to my husband tonight when he gets home.  Man everyone basically knew everyone back then.  Chuck knew alot of people out there, his car left hard, wish we had digital cameras back then, I would post the pic's!!!  Always ran olds motor, car weights about 3800 lbs with him in it.  Chuck runs all motor too, had the nitro hooked up, just in case he need to spray it at the end, bracket racing is one heck of a race....  Please let me know, and I will too, if they knew each other.  

That's way funny.  Judging by their times, they were in the same class at one point.  Did he ever run at WPB Moroso, after Hollywood shut down?

lol.  yeah ill let you know tommorow morning probably. cause knowingm y dad he will come to me tonight and say oh yeah....lol. im sure they knew eachother. my dad and scott knew everyone. everytime we go somewhere we bump into someone he knew way back in the day. yeah he use to run at morosso but not much. i think the final straw was when we were ou there for a show one day , i think the chevy show, and he was suited up waiting and waiting and waiting some more to race. and a kid fell out of the bleachers. after that he got tired of it and just sold the car. now me and my brother are getting into it. i was at the track friday night cutting some good lights. my truck is slow but i prefer getting them good reaction times. my dad told me i should try bracket racing there whwen they start it. since my truck only runs 63 mph in the 1/8th mile. lol.

Yea, Chuck told our son when he was about three (before we starting buying a bunch of 4-wheelers and Chuck was still racing alot), son when you turn 8 daddy's going to buy you a Jr Dragster.  Well, my son is 8, and he is like well dad, where's my Jr. Dragster.  Yea, lets see 4-wheeling every other weekend, and a jr dragster, I think we will need 3 jobs each... lol 

Actually, I would love get me son one, but going to wait a little, expensive....$$$$$  And want to make sure he will stay with it.  I am sure he will get the old's when he is old enough.....

damn hes' lucky. lol.  4 wheeler, jr gragster, and a clean olds 442. you should tell your husband to bring it to the track on saturday. its getting better out there. and he can run himself if he wants. that usually what they do with the fast cars.

My gosh, that car has been sitting in the garage for a while now, surely need new front tires, and think the last time he ran it, blew the tranny.  I had been on him for awhile to get working on the car, but it all takes money and time.  I told him, if he put a slower motor in it, that I would run it.  Lord knows he has enought motors and parts sitting in the garage to build another one.  He can build a good motor!

I would just like to hear the car run again, oh did I add, dead battery.  Man, talking about it makes me want to see it run again even more....  In time, in time...

Speaking of money, guess I better start getting some real work done....lol

yeah i think your husband got like my dad and just got tired of it. now my dad has a brand new raptor and just lets it sit in the garage. he put all the pipe, and jets and everything on it and it just sits there. i think he likes knowing he has something fast. lol. oh well its all fun anyways. you only live once.

so... can I bring my 400ex there and race some cars?

lol. i wasnt home last night so i dont know if my dad remembered or not but im sure they know eachother. my dad goes out to countyline with me sometimes so maybe they will meet up there one day. you never know.  and fox....yes you can take your 400ex but i dont know if they are going to let you race a car. you could always call and ask i guess  the number is 305-879-6660. im plan on taking my 400ex there when i get it back at the end of this month.
