Title: Re: campground near ocala Post by: ATPDan on February 10, 2005, 05:26:21 PM I think the one you are referring to is:
Ocala Forest Campground 26301 S.E. County Hwy 42 Umatilla, FL 32784 (352) 669-3888 I’ve been planning on staying there soon. Let me know how it is if you stay there and if you can ride from the campground. I don’t think you can. Hope this helps Dan Title: Re: campground near ocala Post by: susieblazer on February 10, 2005, 07:49:48 PM We have been going to Ocala Forest Campground since '81' and it is nice , has game room , pool 2 bathroom facilities (but not any a/c). We could ride in and out of the camp, at a reasonable speed, with railbuggys and ATV's. But you may want to check first cuz John has had many who don't adhere to the rules the past few years, thus causing a good thing to stop............ When you rode out of the campground did you ride out to Hwy 42 or did you have direct access to the forest? Thanks Dan Title: Re: campground near ocala Post by: TurboBanshee_kid on February 12, 2005, 04:52:53 AM I have sleeped at ocala campground very nice hot shower nice people ,but look out for the very old man one time I was take a shower and a old man came in and set down to the pot next to the showers and just cheaped all over the places it was so funny. u can ask 01-DS650 he was there with me when it happened. but still a very nice places to sleep.

Title: Re: campground near ocala Post by: kawGIRL on February 15, 2005, 01:20:50 PM Warning! In the season there is a lot of people, our ATV Club stayed there awhile back in August we had a blast, you do have to ride down the side of 40 for about 2 miles to get to the trail, lots of glass and booby traps along the way. There is a gas station/store right before the trail. I would not recommend kids on the side of the road, it's a very narrow path.
Last time we called the owner said NO ATV's or BIKES! I guess some kid was doing donuts in front of a house and pissed off the homeowner and it got back the the campground. >:( But we told him it was just the 2 of us and we would be angels and he said ok. That was 2 years ago. Pics of our club there: http://community.webshots.com/album/47542147uGuqoo GOOD LUCK! Maybe someone should visit him in person?
