ATV Florida Forum

Granted, this land has never been used for OHV use but it is a part of Big Cypress.  It's just another foot in the door for environmentalists to ban us from using public lands for what we enjoy.  109,000 acres is ~170 square miles (roughly an area 13 miles x 13 miles).  Little by little, we are losing land that we could enjoy.

I just read that this morning. Its not a done deal yet BUT, like the man said when the final descision is made, someone is going to be pissed off. That will probably be the OHV people. Especially the hunters. They are really getting the shaft on that one. We are next.

You are half correct. This was at one time a total ORV access area, then it was closed when these lands were purchased by the national park. Now, there are 5 different proposal for these lands. You can comment on the proposal's here.

For the record, I selected plan B and in the comments i wrote that there should be "NO WILDERNESS" because first responders are not allowed in "WILDERNESS AREAS". This is an opportunity to make yourself heard....

I voted for plan B as well.

Take a look at it now. I've responded on the paper's website and will continue to do so until I've shut them all up. The Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, etc.... the strength of idiots in large numbers can be amazing.

These types are the ones fighting against of every step of the way. They're uninformed, easily led by the nose, not free thinkers and lack the ability to think for themselves.

How many of you that wish to ban my family from enjoying our favorite past-time have actually been to Big Cypress and enjoyed the beauty that you are 'protecting'? My family can cover more ground, see more sights and enjoy more of what the real Florida has to offer in one day than we could in a week of hiking. This is not about flying through the woods at 50 mph. This land does not support that type of riding. It is about easing through the lands at a comfortable pace, on existing trails, and enjoying all that there is to see. We regularly see deer, turkey, raccoon, osprey, egret, wood stork, and countless other animals from the seat of our ATVs. We have every bit the right to use a portion of these lands for our recreational purposes as you do for yours. In this world of your leftist mentalities and political correctness, isn't it ironic that you have the gall to sit on your couch, protecting a piece of land that you have never seen and will never take the time to visit just so you can shove your ideals down somebody else's throat? The NPS (that's National Park Service, funny boy) has several plans that accommodate the wants and needs of all interested individuals. Post your comments during this open period, let them do their work and let all of us enjoy a piece of Florida in the manner in which we each see fit. The best lessons to be learned in life were learned in kindergarten. Obviously, most of you weren't paying attention.
