Title: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: mudnuri on March 21, 2007, 08:15:28 AM The proposal was introduced to eliminate the quads from the Harescramble series. Our points have already been eliminated in that series in order to intice more participation in the Quadscramble series. That seemed to work despite hurting so many feelings.
This drive to remove quads from the HS series has been in steps. First, the proposal was presented. There are several different reasons for this proposal depending on who you talk to. The only legitamate reason I can see is parking/camping space as our club grows. THIS IS A GROWING PROBLEM! We have lost events/property due to small clearings for camping. We could not fit so it was lost. This is the ONLY real reason for a needed seperation. ALL OTHER REASONS ARE NOT TRUE AND RUMOR. It was determined through a vote that this proposal needed to be submitted to the FTR magazine for all members to see. It was in this months issue and not one word has been said here or anywhere else that I have seen. The determining vote on this HAPPENS THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, THE 24TH AT 7PM. If you feel this seperation is needed or feel there is nothing you can do, don't show up for the open meeting. If you feel this seperation is not needed or detrimental to the future of ATV racing in Florida, you need to come to this open meeting and discuss your feelings. If this proposal passes, it is in effect at the start of next season. The Quad series has proven it is self sustaining. It can work. I myself, would like to see every property used for a HS to be also used for a QS. If I were smarter, I would make a proposal to include this as a rule. Maybe there is someone who is, and will. Please come and show your feelings in Brighton this weekend Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: gearhead400 on March 21, 2007, 06:06:32 PM I agree with what your saying. Since theres a QS now there should be no need for quads in HS. If QS and HS raced the same tracks i dont see why anyone could complain? but thats me ;D
Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: team_quad_green on March 21, 2007, 06:26:25 PM so are they gonna have more quad scrambles
Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: Chillinthemost on March 21, 2007, 07:25:40 PM Its not, "are they" going to have more quadscrambles. It is up to the quad riders to either join existing clubs that host these races or start a club and host a race.
Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: mudnuri on March 21, 2007, 07:29:44 PM The Quadscramble season can have up to 10 races.
There are only 2 quad clubs. There are a few regular clubs that are also willing to host an event. That makes up for 4-5 events. If the quad clubs host 2 events, which is a lot to ask, that is 6-7 events. There are even more regular clubs that will host a QS if quadders step up and help. One is Daytona Dirt Riders. They have some great land up there and are willing. It's a hike for me, but Tallahassee Trail Riders has alos expressed the same. So we COULD have a full season if we work at it Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: dreth on March 21, 2007, 09:14:39 PM i obviously dont have time to help with this situation right now, nor do i know how this works but why doesnt the FTR just do a HS one weekend and a QS the following weekend? parking and camping is no longer an issue and the trails are already marked. just a thought
Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: Mike#44 on March 22, 2007, 06:16:49 AM FTR doesn't host the races, the clubs do. To hold 2 events in 2 weeks would be to much to ask of one club. It's tiring.

It's tiring. i understand. thanks. why doesnt the land owner host the race? im sure they get some $$$$ for using their land and there is 250 quads show up there has to be money . Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: mudnuri on March 22, 2007, 10:35:39 AM Here's a real no brainer:
How about organizing like a proven series such as GNCC. It is the exact type of racing we do anyway. They around 600-1,200 entries on each day depending where and which day. The 2 wheelers always have more entries. It works. First day-all quads-all ages/classes. Second day-all motorcycles-all ages/all classes. "Keep it simple stupid" thinking makes it easy. But it is not GNCC is all you will ever hear. You will also hear that it is too tiring. What the heck that is all about? Well it is a volunteer organization and most have to go back to work on Monday, so I can understand that. Since this is the case more volunteers are needed to work seperate days. Where do we get them from? How do we intice them into wanting to work? Anyway, if you see me at the race this weekend, say hello. Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: HondaATC on March 26, 2007, 03:19:52 PM I use to be an FTR member, but for the most part I found the officers and "long time members" attitudes of us quad riders and racers to be pretty disgraceful and as such I no longer support their organization. Good to see that there were enough people to stand up and keep "us" from getting completely thrown out though.
Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: mudnuri on March 26, 2007, 05:07:45 PM You will be happy to know the only quadder to vote was myself. The other 9 votes of "NO" were from officers/long time members who are all 2 wheelers.
Since all of this push to seperate, more quadders than ever have stepped up to help and be a part of hosting events. That helped people change their thoughts towards quads. The quads series is still in full swing and growing! See you guys this weekend at the next quad scramble! Title: Re: FTR proposal to eliminate quads... Post by: HondaATC on March 26, 2007, 05:35:28 PM I'm racing the SFTL right now but I will have to consider re-joining. Thank you and to all those that do their part in keeping the quad racers from being isolated.
