Title: HoleyLand Area Post by: 300exstangboy on April 03, 2005, 05:09:16 PM I went to the Holeyland (correct spelling) Wildlife Management Area today and had mixed feelings. The riding spot is 48 miles from Ft.Lauderdale. Once you drive off Route 27, it is 6 miles to the riding area. I liked the area, because it was a change of pace from
Florida city and about 25 miles closer to home. The riding terrain is limited though, gravel roads, wet grass or black silt mud. Very Flat. I was rather surprised that out of the maybe 40-60 riders who were there at 3:oo pm, only a handful wore any safety gear including a helmet. I counted maybe 7 people wearing a helmet. Many were shirtless and wore only shorts. Most of the riders rode with courtesy. There was one person there who was an absolute moron, a real a**hole!. He was riding an old 3 wheeler ATC that was modified with a larger engine. He would go screaming down the gravel access road at an extreme rate of speed. He was passing other riders, like they were standing still. One wrong move on his part could injure any number of people. That would close down any riding place for sure. What does anyone else think about this place? :o Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: bbf on April 03, 2005, 06:01:18 PM it a local place to ride not to far good for a few hours
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: SoFlaEiger on April 03, 2005, 07:01:17 PM great place to ride but really only for the utility 4x4s. The sport bikes should just save the distance north and head over to the seminole track or someplace more set up for them.
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: inked4life87 on April 03, 2005, 07:26:43 PM for someone like me that lives 18mins away its great, nice and muddy just the way i like it.if you ride around there is lot of stuff to check like the camps, pump house ect.
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: bftclub on April 03, 2005, 07:35:15 PM sport bikes hold there own,you just have to know where the trails are!!!!!!!!!the rainy season pretty much sucks though,,but since it's only 20 minutes from my house,i ride there just to keep carb clean on all my quads.....can't afford ocala every weekend..only once a month............
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: bftclub on April 03, 2005, 07:36:52 PM and as far as seminole goes.well..............trails suck cuz there rutted with rocks and jagged stumps,,,,track is ok,,but gets boring..............

What does anyone else think about this place? :o I was out there with a group of about seven people today. I was riding a blue wolverine 4*4. It was probably the cleanest bike out there as my friends would say. Hehe. Unfortunately I don't wear a helmet out there either. The speed limit is only 25 mph on the levy and thats pretty much the speed I travel. Once your out in the trails its hard to go faster than 10 mph. I just like to cruise along and not ride like an idiot. I saw the guy you were talking about with the long modified rear end ATC. Our group made a comment about him to. He kept driving in the parking area, back and forth, back and forth blowing dust everywhere. You always get people like that and unless you want to pick a fight you can't do much about it. They should have a speed limit sign posted in the parking area of 10 miles an hour. Towards the end of the day people were doing donuts and jumping the levy in the parking area. Some people are just inconsiderate to others. Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: bftclub on April 03, 2005, 08:09:21 PM i agree 100%..every weekend there's always some idiot out there who thinks the parking area is his personal playground,,with no consideration of the people he is dusting or the children that are there learning to ride.....so to all you inconsiderate people..SLOW DOWN.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!all that acreage out there to ride ,leave the parking area and the levy to the little guys who are learning to ride
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: Thrumud on April 03, 2005, 09:50:40 PM I was there Saturday and I saw that A-hole, I had just pulled up and asked the FWC officer if it was ok to ride the north area and all of the sudden, A-hole hauls a$$ down the levy. The officer then looks at me and said "It because of people like that, that you guys are going to lose this riding area."
Also, the officer said that the trash out there has to stop. FWC supervisor was there last week and mentioned to all officers out there that if the trash continues, ... kick the riders out. We ask all riders to pick up after your trash and if you see some a hole acting stupid like A-HOLE w/ the ATC... for the sake of our riding area, please tell them to slow down ( In a nice way ) if not there are plenty of FWC out there, rat on the a hole . Regarding the helmets, I wear mine at all time. I like to hit those muddy trails on the north side at a good speed. But for those who just want to cruise and not speed, heck leave them alone. Remember 25 MPG on the levy and parking area ! FWC. and please keep it clean. Its the only legal area we have left. Holey land is more for 4x4, the sports get bored out there. All they can do is ride the levy this time of the year. Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: wilburz on April 04, 2005, 06:18:28 AM I was out there for most of Saturday. Had a good time with JD,southflaeiger,Brett and a few others. We carved some trails throught the sawgrass for awhile. Pretty wet and cold on Saturday morning. Gofastmatt ran over a six foot gator too. Almost 70 miles from Royal Palm. Looked to me that the area south of the cross-over was alot more dryer than the area all the way down by the pumphouse. Did not see a tree taller than 5 feet for a 100 miles! I wish I had more time to check it out. Seems to be a nice place. Looked like the north side of the property was a whole lot more dryer and trail freindly.
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: gery350 on April 04, 2005, 07:38:36 AM i was out there a couple weeks ago and i gotta tell ya overall i had a good time and the people there seemed to be cool. of course we did see a few idiots. we went out on sport bikes and we were able to go about 1 mile throgh the finger trails before having to turn back. but i gotta tell ya overall it was a nice day.
Title: Re: HoleyLand Area Post by: gofastmatt2 on April 04, 2005, 08:33:57 AM If your on a sport bike, your better off staying down towards the cross-over. It's a lot dryer down there. We were towards the pumphouse it was to wet. I got stuck alot. Had a interesting time running over that gator. That tells how wet it was near the pumphouse. Thanks Brian for pushing me out. To bad you didn't get the gator on video.

And Matt, let me tell you man, those Arctic Cats are some bad ass bikes until they get stuck...they're pretty heavy, but 12" of ground clearance, the tires they had and a winch and you're set, especially if you have another rider. Brandon had a bone stock 650 and him and his girlfriend were able to distribute their weight evenly and pop out of most holes, and could hop off and assist the bike a little to get out of the others. Only a few required a strap and another bike. Overall, I'd give those bikes 4 stars out of 5!
