Title: FL Counties that have OPTED OUT
Post by: Off Rode on February 16, 2007, 01:08:00 PM
Is there a website or somewhere (perhaps this post) that lists the FL counties that have opted out of the ATV law? :cursing.gif

I feel it would help educate all of us since most have to travel to ride. ???

I'm pretty sure it would be safe to assume that every county has or is going to opt out. Just another half hearted attempt by our government to appease ATV riders for a brief moment and to keep our hopes up. Pasco is out for sure.

Clay county said no way. I guess they believe since 75% of the roads out in middleburg are dirt we are gonna tear them all up.

I know that Hendry county has opted out.  ( i didnt know that until i got chased) And it stinks because we have property there and we could get to awesome trails if we didnt get chased down the dirt roads.

As of Feb 27th Our great Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners Decided unanimously to exempt our county from allowing ATV's access to dirt roads during the daylight hours. In their discussions, the commissioners reported they had recieved numerous letters after they had passed exempting PBC on first reading earlier in the month. They stated allmost all correspondants were in favor of the county opting out of the state law permitting ATV'S on public dirt roads. They also added that their action,in addition to reflecting County residents preferences, was a safety action since so many  young people have been badly hurt hurt in ATV accidents. Now the question is will Palm Beach County step up to the plate and create a place for us here in the area to ride....Most likely NOT..They would rather sell the land left to developers.Just my 2 cents
