Title: Honda 400ex Carb Question.
Post by: Lukeidiot on February 08, 2007, 10:40:48 PM
We'll I recently bought an 01 400ex, and it has been sitting for a while, therefore it
doesn't like to idle too good. so I adjusted the throttle from the carb instead of the
idle screw (was slipping) and now when I ride it, it rides fine until about 3/4 throttle
is pressed, it just sputters and doesnt want to go.

Thanks.

Also, adjusted it back, and now it doesnt even want to crank up, the motor
turns over and stuff. It acts like it isnt getting enough gas, but i think it may
be the sparkplug from cleaning the carburator. I was to tired to take the sparkplug
out so I decided to quit for the night (you 400ex'er know how hard it is to get
the spark plug out lol).

I know this bites, but sometimes you have to clean the carb multiple times before it is right. 3/4 throttle and up is the main jet. Also its a good idea to put a fresh fuel filter on so no nastiness from the tank dirties the carb you just cleaned.
