Title: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MudMan on November 07, 2004, 05:53:55 PM Anyone ever ride or hear about 3-Lakes WMA ?? I go there every year and it opens up to ATV's in the middle of January. It is a great place to ride and I hardly ever see more than 10 or 15 people there. Let me know if your interested in going. I am planning a trip there the first weekend it opens.

Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: CamoPrairie on November 08, 2004, 07:09:39 PM Hey Mudman, it looks like you've got yourself a pretty good ride shaping up.
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MudMan on November 08, 2004, 10:03:20 PM The first weekend this place opens for ATV's is the 2nd or 3rd weekend in January....I will find out for sure and set up a ride. This place does not get alot of ATV traffic so I ask that anyone that accompanies me on this ride be respectful (especially around the rangers and ranger station). Most of the rangers are not too fond of the ATV's but they dont have a choice :) So I just ask that everyone picks up their trash and behaves at the campsite (because its real close to the ranger station) But dont get me wrong, when we get out riding we have our fun. I haven't met anyone from this site yet so hopefully I'll meet a few of you at MSG next weekend (Nov. 19-21).....later

Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: mudman8024 on November 09, 2004, 06:08:35 PM Sounds like a good ride, I'm hoping to make it. I'm also gonna try to make it to the next MSG. How far is 3 lakes from WPB. I have a few freinds that used to hunt up there but I have never been.
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MuddyGurl101 on April 12, 2005, 09:50:41 AM Where is this place, can you PM me directions? I would like to go if it is still open for riding!
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MuddyGurl101 on April 12, 2005, 10:08:22 AM You are alous to ride there.... i just got off the phone with my FWC friend. You can ride on all named and numbered roads during the years and can ride off road during small game session which is in February into March.
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: wilburz on April 12, 2005, 12:04:08 PM I second muddygirl. You can ride on the numbered roads and can go anywhere during small game. you can also ride at bull creek which is right around the corner from 3 lakes.
take the turnpike to yeehaw junction go west to 441. take 441 north about 25 miles, 3 lakes is on the left. Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MuddyGurl101 on April 12, 2005, 12:08:17 PM Does Bull Creek have the same rules?
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: wilburz on April 12, 2005, 12:11:24 PM Michelle
You live in Keenansville? Bull Creek has the same rules as far as atv's go. Been hunting at both places for a few years now. Right now until April 24 it is Turkey season. You can also run down hogs at Bull Creek during small game. One of the few places that allow hog hunting at that time. Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MuddyGurl101 on April 12, 2005, 12:19:24 PM Michelle,
Where is that? And is there good riding up there? Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: wilburz on April 12, 2005, 12:22:28 PM It would be a very nice ride at 3-Lakes even on the numbered roads. There are some mudholes at times and sugar sand. Probably very dry there now though. Some nice oak hamocks to stop and eat. Probably 20 miles of roads there. During archery and muzzloader (Oct) the roads get real muddy. need 4x4 to get through some.
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: wilburz on April 12, 2005, 12:23:44 PM Takes 2 hours to get to three lakes from wpb.

You ever been out to the FBI land? Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MuddyGurl101 on April 12, 2005, 12:48:14 PM Hold up.... I want to know too! ;D
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: wilburz on April 12, 2005, 12:56:27 PM It is an area of three lakes that is I think south of Williams road down by that big cellphone tower thing. I think it was a area that was closed and the state bought it a few years ago and opened it up to hunting. You would take williams to longloop Rd. take longloop to the fork and go left. I have only parked there and walked into the woods a half mile or so. Lot of locals take the 2 mile walk to an area referred to as the "FBI land". I personnally have not been that far into the woods there. Thought you might have taken a ride on your atv in that general area. You may know the area as another name. Supposed to be some good hunting there. Some people break the rules and ride there trucks or atvs back there during hunting season.
One day I will view this "FBI land" but for now it is just a mirage. :'( Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MuddyGurl101 on April 12, 2005, 12:58:29 PM Sounds like one of those scary stories from a movie! Lol :P

Even more like a horro story! Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: wilburz on April 12, 2005, 03:55:37 PM Those directions are the ones I know. I have not been there. The place does exist. Some big bucks in there. It is not near the mans house though. You can park right in front of his house on williams road. might be behind his house a couple of miles by foot. It is not a secret now. used to be closed to hunting. I never heard the story you described about the land being taken by the fbi. Makes sense though. If you know those Cuban folks that own some land near there they could tell ya. Heard they poach the place.
I know a secret spot at bull creek too. I will save that for another thread. Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: CA650 on April 12, 2005, 07:53:33 PM Can anyone give directions from PSL and can you ride there during the week and is there a cost? If there is riding during the week and anyone whats to ride Tues. thru Fri. let me know.
Title: Re: 3-Lakes Wildlife Management Area Post by: MudMan on April 12, 2005, 08:29:53 PM Hey Wilburz you gotta tell me about your secret spot at Bull Creek.......I rode both Bull Creek and 3-Lakes this year.....its alot more fun during small game season because you can pretty much go wherever you want. Bull Creek is alot more crowded than 3-Lakes.....especially the South Side of 3-Lakes (at yeehwaw junction go west on 60 about 15 miles, entrance on your right hand side right after the small bridge).....the South Side 3-Lakes is a bit smaller but I like the riding there better than north side (off of 441).....I've been going to 3-Lakes for a few years now.....as well as Bull Creek...Bull Creek was great this year....lots of water and it was fun crossing the creek to get to the big water dyke.
