Title: Where to ride in jacksonville?
Post by: MadMudder on January 15, 2005, 07:00:14 PM
??? Is there any good riding places around  jacksonville? The land behind my house just became under new ownership and the guy is a real  :-X ya know.. He doesn't like ATVs and we need a new place to ride arount the jax area. We ride in ocalla national forest but that is just to far away to ride all the time. Any suggestions?

Ther is a nice place out in Interlockin, BIGWORM and I go there sometimes, but it is still a ways out. Not to far for me as I live in OP. It is a fun place not very big though.

Not really any places left unless you know someone with private land every place we used to ride now has housing developments. About the closest places are Osceola, Ocala/Rodman and Jasper. There is Hilliard but it pretty much blows IMO. Rodman is only an hour for me so I don't mind there and Osceola is only about 45 min.

If you are willing to ride Ocala, then the drive to 5A (Scottsmore) should be with in reach. Depending on where you are at in Jax you should be able to get there in 1 1/2. Its only 15-20 min south of Daytona. Just inside the Brevard County line.
But if you have a little 2wd quad you may want to wait for it to dry up a bit.

LITTLE 2wd quad >:(  If it is muddy then my LITTLE 250 will hang with your honda and my dads sp500. On a different note where exatcly is this place at and is it muddy? Thats what we like to ride. ;D

No offense meant. By 2wd quad I meant race type quads (Banshee/Raptor type) with a chain that will spend most of the ride underwater, being destroyed by the sand in the water.
It is right off I95, behind the old burned down Dairy Queen.
Just south of the Volusia county line.
There are pics of it on this site search under 5A. (5A is the county road that intersects the interstate)

A Chevron staition on 315C, across 315C is a dirt road that goes by the ball fields. Take that road about 2 miles and pit and rideing area is on the right.  ??? I know this is not to clear but is you look me up on Sat. at Rodman I will try to do better. Or maybe BIGWORM can do better.  ::)

Look for a white Expidetion pulling a 2 axle trailer with a Blaster on the front then a yellow and gray Warrior and a black and white Warrior, and last a Banshee. Will be glad to give you directions to get there to ride. Might even join you. As it is a good place for a short day ride.   [smiley=ThumbsUp.gif]

How muddy is it? Is it like 4x4 only or is it 2x4 and 4x4? I don't want to show up and get stuck every 5 minutes...

Yea we might be heading out there also. But i ment about getting stuck on my quad all the time. I didn't mean the truck thing. We have a silverado1500 4x4 so that shouldn't be a problem. ;D We should be out there some time this afternoon.

I must have a gigant black cloud following me around. :'( We pull up there and there is a Red dodge ram, a blue expidition and something else stting there and there is a guy on a polaris phonex trying to get it to start. We roll down the window and say hi and he says that we just missed the cops. 15MINUTES BEFORE WE GOT THERE A COP CAME BY AND RAN EVERYBODY OFF!!!! [smiley=Angry.gif] >:(  We had drove 2 hours for absloutley nothing... :-X :-X We just stood there in shock. So we said by and left. We did find somewhere to ride though. They said that they were gonna go get a writtin permit form the land owner and i was wondering who he was so we could be able to ride there...

Title: Re: Where to ride in jacksonville?
Post by: rampage45 on February 06, 2005, 04:09:08 PM
well it is weird  that guy said that because he was there since aroung 1100 or so and well i left around 1 or so cause i ripped the fron end off again and well i dont think the cops will run any one off because one of the guys that rides out there is an orange park police or clay county police  but he said till the start to build the walmart there that he dont see why we can not ride there and well as long as we keep it clean but then again there was a bunch of big 4wd  out there tearing it up so maybe they were there to run them out lol well anyways sorry about that  didnt mean to have you drive all the way out and nothing but i will be out there again next weekend both sat and sun  i will go there untill they put no trespassing signs up and  so fourth .

Title: Re: Where to ride in jacksonville?
Post by: MadMudder on February 06, 2005, 08:14:22 PM
So would it be worth it to drive out there again? I don't want to get run off again. Mabye if those big fat 4wds arent out there tearing it up and attracting attenion then the cops won't care. It is funny though my dad has a big 500 4x4. :o Anyway we might try it again this weekend. More that likley saturday. What i don't under stand it that if the property is privatly owned then why would the cops be able to say anything??? Or did the land owner get PI :-X :-Xed off and say to kick everybody out? Anyway like i said we might try it again but this time i want to show up the same time you do so that we don't get lost ;D

I know some people that have rode there but I don't know if they've been lately. I keep meaning to try it out but time has been against me lately. I saw someone riding out there earlier this week as I went by but I don't know if they got harassed or not. I may try it out tomorrow (Fri 2/18) or Sat. or Sun?? If anyone is going out there let me know. Saturday is the most likely for me.

I'm going tomorrow (Sat 2/19) for a couple hours since I can't make it to ONF. I drive a grey Toyota 4x4 with a red trailer, a red 250ex (me) and my son on his yellow 250ex.
904-449-6511 is my cell if anyone is in the area.

We went out this morning for a couple hours. Only saw a guy drive through in a Jeep and another in a Toyota, no atvs. It was pretty muddy through the trails. I got stuck twice and my son got stuck once. It was our first time going there. There weren't as many good trails as I hoped but it was way better than the powerlines where we usually ride and only about 10 minutes from the house.

well i am glad that you went out there and all  i just hope that they continue to let us ride there  so far no problems but eventually walmart will be building there at least that is the rumor  from local police so till they satrt to build they said they willnot give us no probs but in the other hand they also said if thaey start to see trash or other sh*t being dumped or  stuff like that they wil;l close it for good  but i will get otu there  today around 2:00 pm  hope to see some new faces later all  mike

Yeah, I thought it was pretty clean out there other than that one spot. I heard that is the "proposed" site for a super wal-mart but I don't know if they have actually bought the land yet. I know the realtor signs are still up along Blanding. I'll ask my neighbor, he is a civil engineer for the county and has access to all the property info.

Man, i wish i could go out there. But i even if i could i don't want to drive out there again and get kicked off again. We didn't even get the quads off the trailer. UGH.. Anyway we will be out there whenever we can.  [smiley=Ermm.gif]

OK this place you are talking about is it on the north east corner of Blanding and Brannen Field Rd. between Blanding and Old Jennings Rd. Blanding on the south OldJennings Rd. on the north and Brannen Field on the west. the reason I am asking is I went past there today and saw an open area that looked like you could park in the spot I was asking about. Let me know as I might try to get out there sometime this weekend. I live about 15 min from the spot I am asking about. I will take me longer to load up then it does to get there.

the place we have been riding is exactly there if coming from blanding it is on your right and if from old jennings then it is on your left right before you get to blanding but  i usually go and it is about 130 or two but i dont know sat might be a little earlier cause i am taking the faimly to monster truck show  but on sunday it is still around two  yeah it take me around 30 mins to load and well 6 mins to drive there  but most the time i am always loaded lol  but my number is on here  and well if yuo are going to go well give me a shout    and mad mudder well i have been out there aroung 5 more times since you said then and well no troubles  but if you to scared owell lol  later all

I used to ride that little pit in Interlachen , "thats where I screwed up my shoulder the first time . we used to have some nasty little double jumps out there " There is another good riding pit across from the police station " down the powerlines but the law shows up pretty quick if your riding 4 strokes .Ther is a nasty big steep hill back there , I was the first one to put tracks up it " good ole days .Wrecked 2 times before I made it  ;D
