Title: Spare keys
Post by: exrider on January 23, 2007, 10:59:19 PM
Long story short, Wife and I  misplaced keys to our quads and missed a chance to ride. Local Honda dealer says he can't order me spare keys even with the number on the keys, even if I bring the quads to him with the registration. Anybody have the same problem,or should I talk to another dealer? I work on Japaneses outboards for a living and order keys by the number all the time.

P.S Not to point any fingers but we found the keys 3 days later in her purse

I havn't had to order a new key, but i know a few people that have, and all they do is tell them the letter and 2 #'s that are on the key and they cut that key for him so maybe its just the honda you went to?

I lost mine too and I called several dealers and got no help. I ended up at a locksmith in Jax who had me take the harness off and he made a key. Took him a while but he did it. Long story short, make sever copies now before u lose em. $50 later I learned that.

It probably would have been cheaper to buy a key switch with keys.

That's one of the reasons I like my kick start.

I can hotwire mine too. But didn't want to tell everyone else how easy it is. At my house the hotwire part is easy. The hard part is how to get the 85 pound Bulldog to let you leave.
