Title: KFX400 Help
Post by: LakeMaryKid on January 14, 2007, 05:47:24 PM
2003 KFX 400, been sitting awhile. Changed the oil, oil fitler, sparkplug and battery. Go to crank it and itll start for a few seconds then die sometimes. Most of the time itll just crank and turn over. You give it gas while idling and it will die. Choke on and sometimes off. Fresh new 93 octane gas. Carb gummed up? There is spark. Need some help dont know much about the z400/kfx400. Also the muffler is gutted.

The carb needs cleaning. You have to pull off the bowl. Take out the main and pilot jets. Clean them with carb cleaner and take a piece of wire or a paper clip and clean the holes in the pilot jet really well. Also clean the float needle and seat.

As stupid as it sounds, make sure the choke is off

the screws on the boles strip very easy, you should go to a hardware store and replace them with stainless steel ones with allen heads on them

I'll hook you up with some tires. I'll be up there the first weekend of Feb.
