I have heard it from several people that it is required but I don't think they really enforce it. I have yet to put my decal on my bike and I ride out to ONF all the time.
Title: Re: is a sticker required to ride in ONF??? Post by: ScooterB on December 29, 2006, 12:38:22 PM The green sticker is issued with your Florida Title and is required by law on all OHV in the state of florida if operated on PUBLIC land.
Section 317.0002, Florida Statues, states, "It is the intent of the Legislature that all off-highway vehicles purchased after the effective date of the "Florida Off-Highway Vehicle Titling Act" (July 1, 2002) and all off-highway vehicles operated on public lands be titled to allow for easy determination of ownership." I went to get a sticker for my sons 2006 PW50 that I bought used (I had a bill of sale) and they will not give me a title. I have to get the original owner to submit a MCO (Manufactures Certificate of Orgin) to the state pay the 37.50 fee and sales tax so he can get the title then transfer it to me. If your buying a used machine and it is newer that 2001 and you want to ride it at ANY public area (Croom, ONF) make sure you get a title. Title: Re: is a sticker required to ride in ONF??? Post by: likitysplit on December 29, 2006, 12:51:24 PM the title is still held by the bank so do ihave to wait till i pay it off to get one. also i have heard if you carry a copy of the regeistration with you, you will be ok. i have ridden ONF before and never seen a ranger or other wheelers for that matter.
Title: Re: is a sticker required to ride in ONF??? Post by: ScooterB on December 29, 2006, 01:12:13 PM You should still have a title but it will show the lienholders name (bank).
I just posted what the law states. What they do at ONF and Croom is up to them, but at some point they will start enforcing this law. Title: Re: is a sticker required to ride in ONF??? Post by: Mars on December 29, 2006, 10:26:54 PM Yes. They have been warning people for months. I'm not sure, but I think the ranger said as of Jan. 07 they will start enforcing it. I would check the Forestry web sites.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE Forest Service Notice of New Fee; Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (Title vnr, Pub. L. 108-447) AGENCY: National Forests in Florida, Ocala National Forest. USDA Forest Service. ACTION: Notice of New Fee Site SUMMARY: The USDA Forest Service proposes a new fee site that will involve a special recreation permit for each operator using the Ocala National Forest designated off-highway vehicle trail system. There would be a choice between a three-consecutive day permits ($15) or an annual permit (proposed to be between $60 and up to $120 pending [mal financial and marketing analysis, public input, and agency review). The Forest Service will use funds generated to sustain the trail system, facilities, patrols, and monitoring. The Ocala National Forest is committed to providing quality motorized recreation in balance with what the land can support. The Ocala National Forest recently designated approximately 150 miles of off-highway vehicle trails for motorcycles and unlicensed all-terrain vehicles that consist of mixed-use roads, ATV/motorcycle trails, and motorcycle-only trails. Analysis has begun to consider additional designated trails on the Ocala National Forest which would be included in the fee permit system. DATES: The proposed fee would be initiated no sooner than April 1, 2007. COmments, concerns, or questions on this proposal must be submitted by October 30, 2006. ADDRESSES: Submit comments, concerns, or questions about this proposal to District Ranger, Ocala National Forest, 40929 State Road 19, Umatilla, Florida 34488-5849. FOR FURTIIER INFORMATION: Contact Bret Bush, Recreation Program Manager, 352-625-2520 extension 2509. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: The Federal Lands Enhancement Act (Title VIII, Pub. L. 108-447) directed the SeCretary of Agriculture to publish a six-month advance notice in the Federal Register whenever new recreation fee areas are established. The Recreation Resource Advisory Committee will review proposals. The Rangers had been putting out that the money for the green stickers was to support the trails / Looks like Florida decide to line thier pockets with the tax revenue instead of going back into the trails >:( |
