Title: Polaris brake problem Post by: 1Scorpion on December 23, 2006, 07:18:27 PM I'm helping a riding bud with his quad. It is a 2002 400 2X4 2 stroke. Polaris has that crazy brake system when you use the front brake it applys both front and rear. When you use the rear brake only the rear works. Anyways he told the rear brake did not work. The brake pads were shot simple fix NOT! I replaced the pads and still nothing. So I bled the rear master cylinder and replaced the brake fluid now they work but not very good not even enough to slow the ATV or to lock up the wheels. Any ideas ? HELP

Unfortunately like any Polaris owner will tell you, the rear brake will never work correctly. Its always been that way and to my knowledge has yet to be Improved upon. It sounds like either you still have some air in the line, or a bad line itself. Whats the peddle feel like when you press down on it? Also are you sure there are no leaks anywhere such as a line or around the piston in the caliper? bUg Title: Re: Polaris brake problem Post by: yunt2ride on December 23, 2006, 10:59:32 PM Not sure if you have already but bleed it using the front lever instead of the rear brake lever. If you did use the front lever then bleed it again.
