Title: Re: 1987 HONDA 250R ATC MYSTERY BIKE Post by: KB on December 20, 2006, 02:12:46 PM I'm not sure, but i think they made every other 87 atc except the 250r & the 350x. You should check out www.3wheelerworld.com & do a search, a brochure will pop up and it's got pics. of all the 87 honda atc's. Also theres a pretty cool dude on that forum that use to be the main editor for 3 Wheeling magazine. That was before Dirt Wheels magazine was around. I'm not sure of his name but I think he's still on there. He found a box of red & yellow 3 Wheeling bumper stickers in his attic & mailed me about 20 of them. If you want p.m. me your address & I'l send you a couple. Definitely check that site out though, allot of info. there.

Title: Re: 1987 HONDA 250R ATC MYSTERY BIKE Post by: emullen on December 28, 2006, 07:58:25 AM an 87? $10K I thought 86 was the last year that they were made also and that the TRX250R (4 wheeler) took the ATC250R's place. In 86 they had both the ATC250R and TRX250R which was the TRX250R's first year of production. Was it an aftermarket frame that was a an 87 frame hence titled an 87, a left over 86 sold in 87 or a true factory Honda produced 87? I would be interested in knowing about this trivia. You don't happen to have a VIN# of the 87 or any history of the few made or any differences about the 87 do you? I would be interesting in knowing as well now that my interest in the topic has increased.
Also out of sheer curiosity, how did this mystery question come up? We should start a little trivial / facts thread / section about the ATC 250R i.e first year, differences, when they became water cooled, decals, there was a TRX250R forum that had this section and it was some cool info to say the least. It is a way to preserve the history of the ATC 250R as well as educational for those who care. Title: Re: 1987 HONDA 250R ATC MYSTERY BIKE Post by: sykolincoln on December 28, 2006, 08:40:44 AM yes there where 87 atc 250r's they where white, they got sold to the dealers in the us jsut as the consent decree went down, and were told to dissasembel them and send back, well a few made it, and I mean just a few, but in Canada, and Europe, they still had them, as well as a few in Austrialia, If you find a US 87, you have the rarest of the rare!!

Title: Re: 1987 HONDA 250R ATC MYSTERY BIKE Post by: BIGREDTIDE on February 22, 2007, 06:04:18 PM There were a few trike models made in '87. Big Red, 250R, and prolly 1-2 other.
They sold them in Canada, Europe, and Austraila. They did not sell in the states. They had already started production of the '87's then the whole "Ban 3-wheelers" really got serious so they halted production, and sent 'em out to the other countries for sale. Only differences between 87's & 86's...were colors/graphics. And price! :( Just about the time they halted production and the "ban trikes" got serious....Honda had Factory Rider - Marty Hart testing R&D on an ATC 500R 3-wheeler w/IRS.....YES!!..Independent Rear Suspension! I'll have to search for the article where Marty talked about it. It's been some years' since I've read that. Weird....that prolly would've come out in '87, '88, but from then 'til now...the sport/race 4 wheelers haven't even received IRS. What gives I wonder? :-\ Title: Re: 1987 HONDA 250R ATC MYSTERY BIKE Post by: xr100racer on February 22, 2007, 06:28:16 PM http://www.3wheelerworld.com/87ATCs.shtml interesting, i saw elvis riding an 87 250r once Title: Re: 1987 HONDA 250R ATC MYSTERY BIKE Post by: novadave on March 08, 2007, 09:10:18 PM http://www.3wheelerworld.com/87ATCs.shtml interesting, i saw elvis riding an 87 250r once Are you sure it was Elvis and not 2pac. It's funny how you say you have a true 1987 atc 250r and not a shred of proof! Some people may eat up your story but i call your bluff! Knowing how rare they are you would have shown it off by now, and how funny there are no pictures anywhere of any 87's except for the brocure pics and you say you have one all restored? Lmfao I don't know what fairy tale you are living in but your restored 86 with white plastics isn't considered a 87, that is if you even have a 250R smh! Sorry to bust your balls man I just don't buy it!
