Title: camcorder.......which one?
Post by: gery350 on December 13, 2006, 01:49:04 PM
guys im looking into getting a camcorder and im trying to figure out which format to get.
(dvd-r,dvd-rw,dvd-ram, min dv etc)
i guess my main concern is is it woth getting a mini dv and how difficult would it be to upload videos and convert them to dvds(if thats even possible)

or do you guys recommend just getting a dvd camcorder. im guessing its easier to upload vids and save.

ive never uploaded vids so i dont know which way i should go.

thanks, gery

What are you going to use it for ?   I use a mini DV for my viosport cam. go to www.viosport.com
if you are going to use it for action.

I would recommend a mini DVD camcorder. DVD's will not wear out but all of the rest will. The hard drive ones are okay but I prefer the DVD ones over them. I bought aHitachi mini DVD about a year ago and absoilutely love it. Prices are also coming down so you can find them now starting at around $300.00 and going up from there.
God bless,
Jason

I bought a mini dvd Sony a couple years ago and they are great. Now they are much less expensive and have even more features. You will have no problem converting to full size dvd and uploading them with the right software (I use Nero). Some mini dvd recorders come with a port to plug right into your computer also so you can upload them directly in digital format. Check with Asphalt Dragon - he's one of the local experts with video stuff, maybe he will have a suggestion. Good luck.

You might want to check out the Samsung SC-X210L. Its a very small camcorder that records on either the 1 gb of internal memory or a 2gb sd card. It records dvd quality movies. It comes with a waterproof helmet cam. We have been using 1 now for about 6 months and have had great results. The package comes with its own software for editing and burning the movies to a dvd. However right now they do not work on apple computer operating systems. You must have a windows based system.
