looks great.  I have a similar color dodge and was thinking of a very similar black rim, and the Toyo m/t's in the same size.  Now I know how the combo will look :ThumbsUp.gif

I've heard/read great things about those tires as probably one of the best all around m/t's for the diesel trucks, super strong sidewall, great on and off-road, low noise, except the mileages is supposed to suck in hot climates like Florida, Nevada, etc.  I'd be curious to know how your's hold up :dunno.gif

haha, looks better than my 2 stock rims up front and 2 spares in the back. Had 3 tires slashed and havent gotten the back tires replaced yet. I was lookin at those rims for my truck. the tires look great, let me know how they hold up.

since you got the black rims and nerfs you need a black tool box

i got the black smoke but nothing else black to match  2:L

mine is all black other than the wheels. soon as i get black wheels I will be done. Im not doing any chips. I may get exhaust and intake, but that would be it. I have plenty of power now.

yeah, these newer diesel trucks got tons of power stock but......when you get the chip it takes it to a whole new level. Seriously, its a new truck. Dont be scared of chips, do some research and youll find that the people breaking stuff are running chips like the bullydog on the crazy larry setting which is way too much power for the stock tranny/fuel system. The right chip: when used responsibly along with intake/exhaust youll be fine. But I would be scared of chipping the 6.0h no

www.dp-tuner.com

Jody Tipton is the best in the business when it comes to chips.  I have my chipped, exhaust, intake, tranny shift kit, etc. and very pleased with it.  Don't get caught up next to me or you will be washing your truck for a week.  I will smoke it out.

I like the wheels ALOT they flow very well with the color of the truck.

Oh Yea....................I love the 6.0L's.

You runnin' 40 LBS of Boost in that puppy or what............LOL j/k

not sure.....never had it on the dyno, but well over 300 hp....it's the torque that is incredible....

hate to say it but 40 lbs of boost is not happening with a stock truck.  I can only hit 30 lbs. of boost and I have some money invested.

Not only do I have a 6.0 its an early build 2003. Thats why I am leaving it alone. I know it is a good engine though because it has 67k miles and only 1 repair(warranty) Most of the 2003's have 20-30 or more warranty claims.

Good for you, why dont you start a topic about your truck and maybe we can all give you some pointers. My last truck was a Cummins and I am well aware of what they will do. Mine had diesel dynamics stage 3 injectors, a Edge comp fueling box and a HX 40 turbo.

35x12.50x18 with a Donahoe 4.5 in. lift. I really like the way they look with 38s and 8in. lifts but I had to be practicle because I pull some heavy trailers and do a lot of traveling.

hmm maybe 35's wont look so small on my truck after all. 10 inch wide wheel? You need some black NFAB step bars instead too!

Title: Re: New shoes for the truck

the wheels are 18x9.5. I do like the N-fab steps too. I raised the factory nerfs up an inch and painted them body color. They were chrome. I also am going to powder coat the tool box or take it off and put a chest type box in the bed.

Bigscrub and Smoke have Fords and are friends of mine. I just get irritated with all the "diesel experts". Every kid in town with a diesel spends a few hundred bucks on a chip and thinks that they have a dragster. The only reason I'm not still driving my Dodge is because when I bought it I had 2 small children. Then I added a third child and they kept growing. The quad cab got too small.
Enough about trucks, this is an ATV site, lets ride.

I would have to agree, Smoke. My 99 dodge would hit about 20lbs. stock and with mods and stock turbo around 35lbs. I believe from 2000-02 auto trucks and all the 3 rd gen dodges have such a small stock turbo that you may be able to get 40lbs of boost with enough fuel dumped in but that turbo is way out of its efficiency range and the EGTs will be at piston melting temps. My brothers Dodge hits 40+ lbs. of boost but he has an Idustrial Injection Phat shaft turbo and a few other things..http://www.industrialinjection.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IISI&Product_Code=PSSILBUL2&Category_Code=Dodge+Turbocharger

I hate Turbos......They get so much Boost!....

My Lightning only gets 8lbs(stock)...Guess I need to get some HW on superchargers..I am hoping to get like 10-12lbs with some mods but dont know whether to put $$$ in my YFZ or the Truck...Hard Choice~

Thanks chillin.  Also alot of people don't realize that more boost does not equal more power.  Chillin you are exactly right you want to have the correct amount of boost where the turbo is the most efficient.  It is not as easy as throwing a chip to a truck and hitting the go pedal.

I did my mods responsible.  Installed gauges (pyro, boost, tran temp).  Installed other little goodies.  Installed chip (DP Tuner), jody knows his $hit.  Actually I call him to ask him what I should do next.  Then I also installed a complete transmission shift kit.  Dropped the accumulator valve body, the main valve body and the solenoid pack and changed all the shifting springs and the orfices (basically took tranny all the way apart).  Now I am going to be installing an ATS ported turbo intake housing to eliminate the surge that I am having because of the extra HP.  My truck will roll out, but I have not jeopardized the everday driver any.  My egt's don't go over 1200 degrees and my tranny temp has only reached 150 degrees the past few months.

OHHHHHHHHH KKKKKK, you dont believe? I thought we were past this part but no. Dont try to educate me on diesels telling me I dont know anything because your all idiots if you dont think a stock truck can hit 37psi. Search some forums on www.dodgetruckworld.com in the diesel section and you will find people talking about the high boost levels. But that may be too hard to do so I will take pictures of my gauge. It might be hard to believe since you all drive the best engine ever, the 6.0  :ThumbsDown.gif

Title: Re: New shoes for the truck
Post by: xr100racer on December 15, 2006, 11:12:10 PM
I have a few friends with the 7.3, not impressed. Its a whole lot better than 6.0. Im sure yours is great but just one is completly stock and is always breaking down on him and he is a certified diesel mechanic. My other friend has a lot of money tied up in the motor and is running 17's. He works at a performance shop in stuart that works on diesels so neither are them are dumbys. But "my cousins sister ex-husband's diesel" storys dont really matter. Everyone has their own opinion. Ive never said my truck is better than any of yours, I dont care about all that and dont want to get into a big argument about who makes the best truck. Chillin - I think your truck looks nicer than mine. All I want to prove is that 40 pounds is possible.

Oh, and chillin - 40psi is not out of the stock turbo's effieciecy range.  Its at the limit though, 42 and up is said to be out of its range. Ive seen 24 valves run 44psi on stock turbo and head gasket.  And if your pushing 3psi over stock levels and still fueling how are you not making more power smokinshee? Not a whole lot but its more, getting a couple more pounds of boost out of your turbo is not where your gunna make all your power on a diesel though. Timing duration  fuel pressure etc

Title: Re: New shoes for the truck

http://www.thedieselgarage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26994

you might want to take a look at this.  this website has alot of diesel guru's, not diesel mechanics on it.  two things are pointed out.  24 psi is max boost on a 24 valve stock ride.  32 psi is max boost for an efficient turbo, so anything over that is out of it's range.  once you start boosting over 32 psi your not necessarily making more boost, but you are introducing more hot gas into the intake.  Increase the temperature of the air coming into the turbo and you will increase the boost pressure, not necessarily putting more air through the motor, just hotter air, hence NOT MAKING ANYMORE POWER.

I am no DODGE know it all, but I can find the information to back my accusations up.  We can do this all day if you want.  I will be a work, and have a desk job today.  You let me know.

CHILLIN - get r dun.  what did you do with those OLD chrome rims?

I see you know how to read and write smokinshee. Your a real expert. I specifically said your not making a lot more power but it is more. If I put the truck on a dyno and run at 36 and then at 40, your telling me I wont make any more power at 40? 24/32 is max boost on an 06 cummins? Before I had the chip and I can still turn it off the truck will hit 36-37psi. Thats proof right there I dont need to read about it if it came from the factory like that. I will take a video today/tonight I have to work of the truck on stock mode and then with the chip turned up and you will see how "BS" it is that im not hitting 40lbs. Im not saying, "awsome 40lbs" because its a stock turbo and higher boost is going to be less efficient and all but its not to the point where im not making any more power.

Title: Re: New shoes for the truck
Post by: xr100racer on December 16, 2006, 10:10:17 PM
Well, as promised I got the videos and uploaded them on Youtube. Harder than I thought to focus the camera on the screen and drive. I run the Edge chip with Attitude monitor so it has all the gauges built in. I know the Boost gauge is completly accurate becuase I used to have a seperate gauge and the readings are the same. Dont ask about the "music" in the first video, friend was messing around. Just like I said - You will see the screen read 37 in the first run and 40 in the second. No BS here

Info on the truck: Automatic, 35" Tires

First Run - Stock mode, Dead stop, 4wd because of rain, You can see in the begining the screen reads "0 Stock" and the zero is displayed in the top right corner. This means the chip was put into stock mode.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jRUhT1URwg

Second Run - Level 5, 2wd, Still raining, aproximatly 50mph, layed into it in 3rd gear and tires broke loose at aprox 60mph so I let off immediatly because Ive never lost traction at that high of speed. If you turn the volume of you can hear the tires go SKKKHHHHH for a second right when the gauge reads 38.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXh6fa3eEF0

My argument: You called BS when I said I could hit those numbers, Just wanted to prove I could. I KNOW 40lbs is not really efficient on stock turbo HOWEVER I am still making more power opposed to at 36 or so. May not be much but its more. Thats what it does with the chip.

seriously please tell me you can understand the concept of producing more boost is not giving you more power once your out of the efficiency of the turbo.  when you start pulling hot air into the motor the boost is going to go up.  THE HOTTIER THE AIR THE MORE THE EXPANSION, HENCE MORE BOOST.  So when you get out of the efficiency of the turbo you are forcing HOTTER air into the motor, NOT MORE AIR.  This drives EGT's up and creates more boost, does not create more power.  The engine is still consuming the same amount of air it is just now hotter.  I don't know how more clear I can make that to you.

Until I see a stock 06 cummins with a boost gauge in it hitting 37 psi, I am still calling BS.  I am saying stock, no chip, no exhaust, stock air filter, etc.  As long as you keep taking videos of your controller in stock mode, you and are going to have to agree to disagree.

yeah...my bro has a cummins its not stock though. i think its funny how he calls power strokes   power chokes or power smokes.
How about Duramaxipad or Cumminsapart ;D

Im not saying, "awsome 40lbs" because its a stock turbo and higher boost is going to be less efficient and all but its not to the point where im not making any more power.

seriously please tell me you can understand the concept of producing more boost is not giving you more power once your out of the efficiency of the turbo.  when you start pulling hot air into the motor the boost is going to go up.

His truck is completey stock minus the chip. There is no exhaust or intake yet. Besides the chip and 35's, his dodge is completey stock.

my friend mikes 05 cummins (stock at the time) did 38 psi no lie.

ford=fix or repair daily

Although the Cummins is the best diesel out there, it's defanatly the ugliest. Good God they need to do something with that 32 passenger MegaCab....(http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/images/3060000000047498.JPG?0.7785344551173249)

Better have one helluva tranny cooler and torque coverter. You may have twice the power but with stock parts you'll just be breaking twice as fast. Unless my truck was seriously built, I wouldn't do a tug-o-war on dry pavement. A million things can go wrong.

Austin, I dont even know where to start with you. Ugliest truck? First off I dont have a megacab dually, 2nd - Have you seen the new duramaxes and powerstokes. They are Ridiculusly ugly.

You have 94 Nissan 4cyl that has some many problems its crazy. You blew the engine within the first 8,000 miles of ownership. It took me 12,000 with the jeep. On the other hand the jeep was the baddest thing the mud holes of Vero had ever seen. Your on your 3rd clutch, how many new tie rods?, bad tranny mount, u-joints, no a/c, no heater, no power steering, Youve replaced radiator, ball joints, etc, etc. Its a Piece, but you stand by it and call it the most reliable thng ever. Nissan Power!!!

Im Tired of this argument about the boost, Its a stock truck and the gauge is accurate. I hit 37psi stock. Im not bragging about it but why would you call BS you dont even know. 94Harbody can verify this. I have 4" exhaust in my garage waiting to be put on and Intake in the mail. I take it easy on the upper levels because I dont have intake/exhaust on yet and I never let my EGT's get high.

You know the powerstroke is a horrible motor, specially you got the 03 which is the first year for the 6.0. Man you suck. There is no argument that cummins is the BEST, well between people that know what theyre talking about. I preety much kickace, Have the best diesel engine ever designed under the hood, and my 4 wheeler is badace too

Cutnegrs - I did not start talking crap to you. I was arguing with smokingshee and you repeated twice that youll run any diesel on this site. Im not driving to Ocala to race you if you really want to race me - Time and place - 66th ave in between 4th st and oslo road in VERO. we got the 1/4 marked out.

Your a joke, You saw that I said I have a stock truck with just a chip, You know you have a fast azz 6.0 so you challenge me to a race and you live far away. You will probably win. Good for you. I didnt come on here challenging people to race idiot

You picked a race you knew would never happen and if it did you would win. WOW. If you want more of a challenge ill be more than happy to round up some of my buddys, they may even agree to meet you half way in between ocala and vero but the race will be for cash

thought we were talking about things with 4 wheels? that busa will smoke anyone i know so ill give you that. i got a truck and a rappy you will win the races. smokinbanshee said you had friends with deep pockets so i figured you would line someone with 4 wheels to race one of my buddys. I never stated i wanted to race anyone. i said i would race you if you really wanted and specifically said youd probably win

lets clear one thing up. my dads truck?  2:L

Guess cause im 18 i cant own my own truck. Not like i work 2 jobs or anything, I take care 100% of all my own finances

Insurance, Phone, truck payment, gas, atv     I dont understand how some parents give their kids everything for free. you probably thought i was one of them. My dad had to buy all his own stuff when he was a kid and said if i wanted nice stuff i had to work for it myself. i think im doin all right

you know what, i got to admire someone that works for his own stuff, so let's call it truths, and we agree to disagree on a few things.  I payed for my own $hit ever since I was 16 and it wasn't always that easy.  I am 26 now and have nice things, but I have worked my butt off to get it.  I am done with this.
