A small group ride we had just a few weeks ago.

I just heard that you don't need any permit to ride out there anymore. Is that true? That would be sweet.

We were out there, the FWC drove by and just waved.  Of course, act like a fool out there and oh yeah, they'll make sure you're outa there.  Just please if you do go out there, pick up your trash, don't feed or harm the wildlife.

If you want to camp out there, let me know - there's a sweet spot 2 miles west of the "ROTENBERGER" sign.

Oh, forgot -  No permit required.

I lived in plantation for about 15yrs and we would head there every sunday to fish. It was nothing to catch and release 50 - 100 in a day. They would almost hit a dry hook. Not sure if its that good anymore. I heard they rerouted the miami canal east, just north of where we used to put in by the pump house on miami canal. We would put in there and ride almost back east to 27. Just awsome awsome fishing. If I was ridin there I would definitly have a rod holder on my quad.

hey thrumud, when you guys goin out there next, me and my buddys will be there this saturday all day, we park by the first bridge and ride down to the first pump station and hit some trails, found a really nice one last weekend.

raptor660, I might head over there not this weekend coming, but the next.  I have to be on stand by cause the wife is just about to have a baby. I would love to join you guys for a ride, I will keep you posted - be on the look out for a post soon.  Take care.

Thrumud, I live in Kendall and want to head up that way next time your out also. GOOD LUCK with the new baby! I have a one month old. It is awesome. A ton of work, but AWESOME!!!   ;D ;D

How exatcly do you get there from JAX and how muddy is it compared to 5A. Would a 2wd quad with a good driver with the mods int the sig be worth bringin?? ???

i would like to ask that anyone going to holey lands please take care of your own !!!! please pick up trash & becareful THIS IS THE ONLY THATS RIGHT ONLY ONLY O YA THE ONLY PLACE TO RIDE in south florida but if it gets trashed it will be like all the other places we use to ride (key word being used) CLOSED thanks willy. also becareful there are gators out there

MADMUDDER,  I have no idea how to get there from Jacksonville. The area is a good riding area, plenty of mud.  You can also camp out there, just know where to pick a good spot.  Location : Between the county line of Palm Beach and Broward off US-27.  There's a sign before a small over pass that says ROTENBERGER , coming from the north you would make a right.  Drive down paved road and dirt road about 15 miles west to the pump station, and you are there. Unload and ride.

At this time of year you shouldn't have a problem.  Just stay away from the mud pits and you will do just fine.

A few trails are muddy.  During this time of season the riding in Holey Land is just right, when the rain comes forget it, mud everywhere.

Hey guys went riding yesturday at the holeylands, and just wanted to let everyone no that the "SOUTH" side of the levy is closed until April 30. because of nesting. we got a Warning yesturday and next time its a 285$$ FINE!!! it crazy but Im sure not paying that so, I'll stick to the North for now. BTW is really dry out there, but there are some nasty spots that will eat your bikes.

To get there from Davie take I595 west to 27 go north to the broward palm beach county line turm left there go about 7 miles till you come to the bridge over the canal. Park there and ride

I'm, working on my jeep in the morning but may go out in the afternoon. Where's the best place to park and unload?

Good spot is where the pave road ends.  Or, head down to the pump station, about 8 miles down from where the paved road ends.

That's what I thought.

We drove out past where the pavement ends and found a memorial to two game wardens. Anyone know what happened there and when?

I think it was about 2 years ago the 2 rangers were responding to a poachers call at night and were driving there trucks with there lights off and hit head on.

Ouch... That really sucks :'( :(

seaviper, how was it out there ?  

spent all day working on the jeep....never made it out.

I did tow the ATV's around to test my new trailer hitch though...if that counts lol

Have to try it again next week.

We are going to HoleyLand tomorrow we will be there at 10:00   By the Bridge with my RV .

Correction...It is the "North" side that is closed.... North is Holey Land. South is Francis Taylor, which is not closed. The only time it is closed is for high water. giving the deer a chance to see dry land.

The pictures I just looked at show it looks dry out there.  It looks like that thick sticky mud when it drys up.  Its the dry season how can the water be high?  What kind of stories are the FWC making up now to keep us out?  They have been doing nothing but pissing us off for the past year with all the closures in South Florida.

Read it again...North is closed...not south. They dont't close the south. only in high water situations...not now.

and the FWC folks I talked to today were very nice... NOT trying to kick us out or pissing any of us off....unless you were breaking the law. Lt. John Reed.... Nice guy.

Ok I get it now.  So why did they say the North side is closed?

Well when I was there just last weekend, we were on the south side and thats the side they said was closed off, not the north. because of nesting.

Hey raptor660, unfortunately I won't be headed out there any time soon, The wife is just about to have a little gal and have to be on stand by.  A month after the baby is born I'll be out there.  We'll team up, promise.
