Men it looks so far, can't wait, and yes it was fun last time and it will be better next time, I'm trying to get at least one more rider see how that comes out, we had +200 riders, lets make this even bigger.

Thank's to the hosting club in advance, they are working hard on getting this track set for this race.

The 27th does seem like it will take forever to get here.

Thanks for trying to get some more people involved Luis.  The more people we can get involved the better the QS series will be.

The kids classes are growing each race!
Jan 27th seems like a long time, but it will go by quick.
I must say, if you like these events, you might think about doing something to promote the longevity of the hobby/sport by joing a local club. Most of them are two wheel clubs that host these events. Some of these clubs want to quit hosting them for quads.
The quadders must step up or face losing this kind of quality of life. This is an old broken record about needing quadders to step up, but there is serious talk of leaving the quads to run their own series. Two wheelers saying we've ridden their coat tails long enough.
Right now there are only two quad clubs. How many events can they host? Joining a club, even a two wheel club, will give you an already established base in which to work from. Yes work. Who is going to step up and make a difference? Go to the FTR main page and find clubshttp://floridatrailriders.org/ftr_clubs.htm (http://floridatrailriders.org/ftr_clubs.htm) and see which one is nearest you.
They say "If you build it, they will come."  It has been built, we came, it will work, we have to keep it going.
I know they will be out there all weekend this weekend cutting new trail. Go help if you can.

mudnuri is right, clubs can only exist if there are members and races can only happen if there are clubs.  Joining a club is easy.

If you are into riding or racing ATVs what could be better than being part of a group that shares the same interest you do??  Only good things can happen by organizing and banding together.

See you at the races!! 8)

Ryan561,

Come on out for the Quad Scramble even if you don't get your new suspension.  Running a Quad Scramble is totally different from MX.

And a wide MX front end is no good for a Quadscramble.

This is a great piece of property and a terrific place to camp and hangout. It's a little bit of a drive for some, but it's an easy drive and def worth it. We're hoping to work on course-cutting this weekend if the weather permits, will give you a report. The quad scrambles are a blast, and you get more than your money's worth compared to an MX race.

Myself and the esteemed member "Mudnuri" were at the property last Saturday with the SAQRA folks getting a start on some trail-cutting. We laid out about 3-4 miles and they probably did the same on Sunday. This race is going to have something for everyone, from tight tree sections to wide-open pasture runs. This is a great way to see what you and your quad are made of, and get a few hours of high-quality "seat-time."

Let me put it this way:  for a couple of the water crossings you'll only get wet if you aren't going fast enough. 8)

Help with classification!!

I am 41 years old and have been riding since 1985. I have a KFX400 with Axis shocks all around, plus 4 rear axle, plus 3 front a-arms. I am a good rider, but have never raced. What class should I be?

I would suggest you ride the Beginner 2 class (0-400cc) in your first event, to get a feel for the scrambles format. If you win the first race, they'll promote you, so don't worry about sandbagging. If you need any info just send me a PM or go to floridatrailriders.org.

SAQRA will be working on the course this weekend, anyone wanna help?

Mike-it's not polite to ask someone how wide they are...you gonna ride or talk?

Yup,  we were out there this weekend working on the course-  Well Josh and Amanda did most of the work, I was only out there on Saturaday.

This will once a gain be an awesome and fun race as there is something for everyone.  It also has some sections that are going to be very exciting for spectators to watch.  Have your friends and family come out - they are sure too have a good time too.  Be sure to give them a camera so they can get pictures of you in action.

How wide is your quad?  FTR sets the width limit at 50 inches max and the trail is made in accordance with that limit.  With a +3 front end you might want to pack a shoe horn to help you squeeze through the tight sections.

As far as the classification you could do the beginner class or even the 0-400C class.  You are old enough for the Vet or Senior class but old doesn't mean slow.  The easiest thing to to would be to start out in the C or Beginner class, because you can always move up in the classes at the next race.

Come on out and give it a try, you won't be disappointed.  Do this once and you'll be like the rest of us...  waiting impatiently for the next race so you can get your fix.

You can use any number as long as it isn't taken. They won't issue you a number until you join.

You have to be 16 to race anything bigger than a 300.

I didn't ask him if I could ride his quad. I think if I did he probably would have let me.

Here is a picture of his rig.  He had a Lexus IS300 in there also for getting around town.

Cool that would be awesome if he showed up, he could use some practice i guess, even though he won the GNCC in florida by 3 minutes! I saw him at croom 2 times over x-mas break, once was at OAS (my friends saw him while i was waiting outside and said he was hiding his face) and then again a day later just sitting in the pits at the sand hill.  Did i mention I cant wait for this race either!

If anybody didn't notice, along with our own Pro rider, Taylor Kiser, Brandon Sommers was at the HS in Seminole. So it wouldn't surprise me to see them at this event along with other Pro's! It wouldn't surprise me to see a popular ATV magazine taking an iterest in us as well  :o
So shine up those machines and c'mon out.
P.S. PIT RIDING IS NOT AN ISSUE-DON'T MAKE IT ONE.
1ST GEAR AROUND THE PITS.
IT'S SIMPLE. REMIND YOUR BUDDIES.
THEY DO DQ FOR STUPID PIT BEHAVIOUR.
SAVE ALL THE BS FOR THE RACE

Slowing everybody down is the name of game for scoring.  The chicane is gonna require a little finesse' to get through and not get screwed up in it.

Pics really don't do it justice, there are some other fun obstacles throughout the course.

The 27th will be here soon.  Maybe not soon enough!!

You don't need a poncho just some speed and guts. :P There's a bridge for one of the crossings but the jump for it is a lot more fun.  You can leap one of the other crossing too so long as you look out for the other guy.

Hard work, but the payoff of hopefully everyone enjoying the course is going to be well worth the effort.   We tried to get terrain in there that well, makes riding a quad the fun that it is.
I'll be working this race, so hopefully I'll get to see you out there.

You'll have to run the junior class(Quad Junior 91-300cc (age 13-15)).  There maybe somebody selling number plates and numbers but you could make something.  Junior class is a black background.  Some flat black plastic or sheetmetal that's at 7" x 10" for the back works well.  You'll also need one for the front as well, you can make that one a little smaller.  Just zip tie them securely to your quad and you'll be good.  Bring along some good sticky tape that stands out on black to make your number they assign you.
Your number plates don't have to be fancy; at the last race somebody used colored dixie plates and tape.  They just have to readible for when you go by the score keeper.

Eric
It's about 3 1/2 hours. Approximately 225 miles. I live in West Palm Beach. We can hook up and you can follow us if you want.

We leave early on Saturday AM, like 3:30AM or so, stop and eat breakfast somewhere and get there by 7:30AM for sign up. You must get there early if you want to have time for the practice lap. Let me know. Frank

Was wondering if they are letting people move down a class if they have been out of the racing scene for a couple of seasons? To make a long story short, I was promoted from the B class to the A class. Well since I didn't have anybody to race against the 400cc and less class I tried to move to the 401-open A and they told me no because on the sheet I put 400cc's(like a tard),  wish I would have lied and said it was bored out, so I went to AA, and placed 5th at the end of the season. I haven't raced for two seasons and was hoping they would let me move to the open A class. If anybody has done this please let me know? I'm wanting to this QS and I'm extremely out of shape and would like to have a chance. Also is this race AMA?

Anybody look at the weather forecast?  It's supposed to be in the mid-30's Saturday morning!!  :o Don't know about you but I'm not looking forward to those water-crossings in that kind of weather.

Where did you see 30's for the low??  The local news said mid 40's for the low and 60's for the high.  Of couse weather.com says mid 50's for the low with the high being in the 70's on Saturday. Who you supposed to believe??   ???

Rain, sleet, or snow, I'll be there!!
I was reading a thread off another site, it was so cold at a race the poor guy couldn't drink because the water froze in the Camel Bak!

Well, can't ever trust the weatherman.  I was looking at the National Weather Service website and it said a low Saturday of 39 for Punta Gorda so I extrapolated mid-thirties for that due to the fact the race site is located well away from the city and warm waters of the Gulf.  Now, just like you said, the NWS says 43 for Saturday.  Still awfully chilly to be soaking wet from the water crossings.  Maybe if I go fast enough I'll clear it before the water falls back down!   ;)

That's the spirit!!

It's just funny how there's 1 national Weather Service yet 3 different forecasts.  At least they all were in agreement about the sun shine. 8)

$Ten Bucks says that rain was just what the Dr. ordered!
Tomorrow will soak it up and Saturday will be PERFECT!!
Tell your friends/family/pit crew to be ready with the cameras. Plenty of photo opportunities!

Remember 1st gear idle speed around the pits, please.
LET'S GO RACING!!

More than 250 entries would be sweet!!

Oh yeah, there will be some mud.  It was getting pretty dry in some spots so the rain should help keep the dust down... some.

see ya out there!!

I was doing good, then my quad started having problems. When I try to give it full throttle, it stalls. But it won't if I do it slow.

I heard that he was hurt pretty bad and I was praying that it wasn't true. If anyone knows him and finds out it is true, please give him my regards. Thanks

It was a great day and a fun course. To all those that made it happen, thanks, you could not have pulled off a better event. My son won his class and I came from a horrible start, last into the woods up to 3rd. See you guys at Gatorback.

Sorry I didn't see ya Matt.I finally got my official #37.Unfortunately,I got water logged in practice and wasn't able to race the actual event.Half a lap in the first and my quad bogged down.Too bad it was too late to get my money back.
But I had fun in practice and chillin with everyone there.I'll post my pics as soon as I get them.

I was directly behind Phil  when it happened. He hit a stump with the rear right tire and the quad bucked  high left. His foot came off and hit the ground right before the nerf bar hit his ankle from the side. It then bucked back right and he appeared to shoot the fuel to it cuz it staightened out and he rode it out. He then pulled over and grabbed his ankle which was attached to a foot that was about 15 to 20 degrees the wrong direction. Brian Vis told me last night that Phil had gone into surgery so it is apparently pretty bad.
Our prayers are with you Phil and Jen.

I hope he recovers. That really bums me out.It was a tough course. It was very technical and so easy to mess up.You really had to watch every minute of what you were doing.I can't wait for the next race.

Phil would like me to express how thankful we are to everyone (Shawn Platt, Josh & Amanda, Brian & Myrtle, Brian M, Jimmy, John & Cody, Chris McGrath and I am sure I missed some of you) who helped us Saturday, into the weekend/week, and those who have wished him well and of course those who have called to check in on his condition. It is very appreciated and meant more than you can know ;)

He did have surgery Sat evening...they installed a plate into his leg. He has been in a great deal of pain but is in as good a condition as can be expected. We head back to the West coast next week for a follow up - if all is well then we can start seeing a doctor here locally. The Lake Wood Ranch hospital was great and we could not have asked for a better Doctor.

Thank you all again for everything!

Phil & Jen  ;)

Glad to hear that Phil's surgery went well and that ya'll got home safe.  :ThumbsUp.gif :ThumbsUp.gif I hope his follow up shows that everything is where it should be and that it's healing properly.

Again best wishes for a recovery.  Hopefully the healing time will go by as fast as you ride!!  Take care of yourself.
