Title: Re: how much $ in mods to your quads Post by: Ida_Mann on November 09, 2006, 09:57:48 PM depends on which quad,,,my utility I'd be happy if it were just reliable, I just got it back from the shop a few weeks ago and rode it once with a new battery,,,,,I tried to start it yesterday to find a dead battery.
My 99 400 has had so much stuff done to it I lost count,,,,but I love it all. That is something that NO ONE makes. I did a post in the tech corner about it and someone suggested a number I could try, I called them and they said no too! That is after calling about 15 other places. Good luck and let me know if you come up with anything. I know I am not the only one out there that NEEDS this! I for one applaud your goal. I think it's great that someone wants to provide a superior quality product. But in my opinion that's not the only hundle. It appears that some riders buy products for the name brand as much as for the performance. Thus the success of some companies that haven't stepped up the quality of their stuff that are still doing well. So not only do you need to secure teh money for the equipment, but also get your name out there so it's not in vain. You need to make sure your stuff is better than the other guys' but it could be slow going until your name brand is out and recognized as good, desirable stuff. I think someone with your goals can definitely do well as long as you're building a better mouse trap and not trying to break everyone's bank with huge profit margins on every item. Best of luck. Bring manufacturing back to the US? Surely you jest. Labor is far too expensive here for items with such a small profit margin. What you need to do is bring quality control implements to China, or the new labor emerging market India (They're undercutting the chinesse wage). Then you would fix your problem with getting crappy parts. But I'm guessing you can't speak Cantoneese or Swahili. Sorry to bring you down, man. PM me though, and I'll put you in touch with my contact from NASTA. They are a Taiwanesse manufacturer of aftermarket stainless steel products. I'll get you a dealer prices if you're serious. After admitting to investing several thousands of dollars we need to poll people as to their annual income. I'm just curious to see if people are spending all their money on their quads, or if everyone here makes $100 k and up.

I agree about the whole small profit margin thing with labor being higher in the U.S. but here is what I am praying for. That people will not mind spending 5-10 dollars more on a part they know is of high quality and made by american hands.I also plan on creating parts no other manufacturer yet produces such as the trx 90 electric start kit.To help come up with new ideas I ask you my friends at ATV FLORIDA to make suggestions ,and if I have the equipment needed and know how I will produce it .Also when I get started about 6 months down the road I will ask people at this forum if they have a certain year or make of bike to bring it to my shop and I will make all the differant parts possible to fully dress out their bike in exchange for giving me the ability to use their bike to make the blue prints fixtures and programs needed to manufacture the parts for the rest of the U.S. I hope I will have the support of the locals expecially to get started and I believe you will be happy with the parts I manufacture and spread the word .If you do not think I have a chance in hell of making it work please explain why ,I want this feedback so I can better plan for obsticals or relize I left out a potential problem maybe one thats unresolvable .Please tell me your honest feelings about my plan. And please tell me what you look for most in a product you are about to purchase. Thank you , Matt Title: Re: how much $ in mods to your quads Post by: Alba450 on November 10, 2006, 08:56:33 PM Well i've got about $14K+ in my quad and its still has stock front bumber, grab bar, motor, swinger, and oh yea STOCK chain and sprockets and whole bunch of other stuff.
