I had a bug suit and hardly wore it. Get regular camos and a thermacell. I also have the redhead snakeboots and they are REALLy comfortable.

a thermacell is a butane powered mesquito repellant system it also repells many other bugs.I love mine it works great .You can get them at home depot walmart and most sporting good stores.amazingly you can use it with it in your pocket or on a wrist strap .they are aout 20 bucks

i looked at bps website and they are really cool. i might just have to get one. i have camo pants and shirts so i guess a bug suit isnt necessary. idk. ill look at them. i can save some cash if i just get the thermacell. we will see.

I have the bugtamer jacket and pants.  They work great.  I bought them 10 years ago and have used them every hunting season.  When sitting in the stand it is a little freaky hearing all the mosquitos buzzing around you but they cannot reach your skin.  If there is a breeze blowing you stay cool, but they can be hot if there is no breeze.  I think they are a must for hunting in FL.

The thermacell is a must. Works great. Doesnt scare any of the deer away. Takes a couple minutes to start working though because it has to heat up this little pad.

i bought the BPS's bug suit a few years ago. Don't waste your money on that one. POS! Bought a bug-tamer brand jacket this year. costs 80 bucks but you will not be disapointed. works like a charm. with the bugtamer you don't need no thermacell!

I hunt more than anyone I know and I've used a Shannon's bug tamer for years. That is, until the Thermocell came along. These things work supremely. I never wear my bug suit anymore. Don't need to. Even during hte hot archery season when the bugs are the worst.

As far as snake boots, I've had them all. For the money, the Red Head $99.00 pair are the best value. They last a long time, are light and comfortable.

Good hunting to all!!

I've got the rocky snake boots and they are comfy as hell.  But like a few others said you can get Redheads for less and be fine.  Also, take a look at the bass pro sale ads for them.  I've seen them as low as $70.  I also agree on the thermocell works fantastic and is portable.  We use them hunting as well as riding when we stop.  Also great for back yard picknik.  It only works for a 15' radius or so though.

as for the boots, til the 19th they have the red head zip up ones for sale for 80 bucks. im gonna get those prolly.

bug suit, well ill get a thermacell. how long does a cartrige or whatever work on a thermacell? i dont have 200 bucks to spend on bug clothes for now at least.

also is leafy camo better than normal?

while this thread is still here, is there anything you recommend for hunting? besides a gun and camo.

you're really making it more complicated and more expensive than necessary.  you can get cheap camo boots at walmart that will work until you save up for what you want.  camo face paint is good or a camo face cover cheap at walmart also.

be sure to get your hunting license though

you can do the safety course online and just go 1 day to a "Field Day" where they see how you shoot and handle guns.
