Title: What would you buy????????????? Post by: Aquiles on September 30, 2006, 09:52:05 PM I am planning to purchasee a new mud bike. Right now I have a 450 Foreman S. I love that bike but they don't make it anymore and I wanted to put monster 28's mudzillas of course. I need a bike that won't chew belts or leave me out in the woods. Im also interested in something automatic for the wife. The more I try and read and educate myself the more I find that all of the bikes that I have considered have a problem. I just wanted input from other mudders around the country. My 450 is an unstoppable beast. I spend most of my time pulling out bikes that displace twice my bike. Just need input.
Cheers Aquiles Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: bigscrub79 on September 30, 2006, 10:14:08 PM You forgot the King Quad 700. It is an awesome quad and I have seen it go through some nasty stuff. I have the Vinson and love it but for a few hundred bucks more you can get the King Quad.

Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: snowmanzz13 on September 30, 2006, 10:31:58 PM the polaris 800 sportsman is a great bike and was a fun bike in the mud at plantbamboo
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: backwoods boy on October 01, 2006, 12:00:34 AM ive heard the foreman rubicons are sick in the mud better than the rincon put the money you saved on buying the rubi instead of the rincon n put a few aftermarket parts on it jet kit ehxaust etc n it should handle some 28 laws fine

Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: yunt2ride on October 01, 2006, 07:33:01 AM Polaris 800, just remember that whatever you buy. You need to realize that with aggressive tires. Know when to stop hitting throttle. The most problems with belts burning is people get in thick thick mud and stop and then give it gas when the suction has the tires sucked in. I have my original belt on my polaris 500 and its almost a year old. It has been burnt twice when other people were on it but I have never burnt it. Now that I know it has been burnt, I keep another one in the truck just in case it does go out. Not had any problems with it.

Cheers Aquiles My only concern is 28" mudtires on an automatic ..... I have a foreman 500 s & I love it, never have a problem, unless I'm at mudfest & find a canal to get stuck in ! Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: yunt2ride on October 01, 2006, 07:51:06 AM You want have any problems with 28s on a quad that size. Only thing is you may need spacers or a lift.

Buy another one. he cant buy a new one anymore. anyway thr Rubicon gets my vote. if i ever get a big bore muddin bike it WILL be a Rubicon. definately dont get the BRP. Yami and zuki are ok but honda is the best. all the bikes you mentioned are good (except the brp). Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: MadMudder on October 01, 2006, 02:05:13 PM Ok, heres the deal, most quads with enough azz to turn 28's have automatic transmissions. Espically now with most companies changing to belt trans. Anyway most big bore quads will do good in the mud. They all make allot of power and have independent suspension. So if somebody has a polaris is gonna say its good and the same for every other brand. So it really comes down to personal preference and local dealer support. My advice is just to go down and sit on all the quads your considering and talk to people and get to know what your buying before you write that check.
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: Kawa3 on October 01, 2006, 02:56:54 PM Arctic Cats are mud machines. I have 30" mudlites on my H1 and it is stock and it turns them like the stockers. If you dont want a belt the 500 comes in a manuel also, it is the same engine as the suzuki vinson but the Arctic Cat has Fully independent suspension and the zuki has a SRA.
Ohh stay away from Kawasaki Belt drives to much maintence for big tires. Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: SpringHill Riderz on October 01, 2006, 04:20:32 PM Grizzly!
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: MachineDog on October 01, 2006, 04:25:25 PM No such thing as a BRP 700 unless you mean the 650. I would buy the BRP/Can-Am 800, have a set of 25" Bighorns, 25" ATRs, and 29.5" Outlaws and be done with it if I had the money.
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: SpringHill Riderz on October 01, 2006, 04:28:32 PM They have had that can-am infomercial on so much, and I doubt half the shootouts are real ::)
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: FordForever on October 01, 2006, 09:53:20 PM Yea I had to make this choice a few months ago and I decided not to buy more then I need. If you buy more then you need your just screwing yourself. I dont even use my 4X4 and I feel like an idiot for buying it.
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: khooping on October 01, 2006, 10:06:03 PM Polaris 800
Much better 4 wheel driver (turns off the fronts at higher speeds when not needed and has better handling on the trails (with turns). The differential to switch to full lock is much more sensitive than the other big 4X4's. The suspension handles rough terrain better with a lot less unwanted feedback through the steering to the handlebars. I know the 800 wasn't one of your choices, but you should check it out. Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: snowmanzz13 on October 01, 2006, 10:43:01 PM my dads friend has the 800, extremely comfortable, almost liking riding an extrmely fast couch
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: Joedirt on October 02, 2006, 01:45:36 PM As the saying goes ..it is the rider...buy a bike that feels good..all brands out there have something to watch out for...all have good things about them...get something you are not going to get tired of....
I have a Suzuki King Quad 700...not a bad little sled.. ;) Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: BCConviber on October 02, 2006, 01:53:12 PM Test drive a 700 Grizz if you can.. I picked mine up last weekend, and was so surprised at the difference over my '04 660. Worlds apart... tons more power, more comforatable ride, power steering (which is incredible by the way) ,etc. Yamaha seems to have really done their homework on this one.

Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: rancher4lyfe on October 04, 2006, 08:48:31 PM GO WITH A FOREMAN.ITS LIGHTER AND GOES THROUGH MOSTLY EVERYTHING A RINCON GOES THROUGH IF YOU KNOW HOW TO RIDE. AND HONDA IS MOST RELIABLE!!!
Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: FordForever on October 05, 2006, 11:45:24 AM The idiots down at Palm Beach Cycles tried to sell me an automatic honda rincon. Yea ok... pushbutton is highly annoying and hardly automatic. I hate how honda claims to be automatic with their lame pushbutton shifting.
Yamaha would get my vote of course. Yamaha has the best engine braking around and I will stand by that forever. Ive tested a lot of ATV's. Plus the grizzly look is famous. If your rich just get a can-am. Title: Re: What would you buy????????????? Post by: MuddFreak77 on October 05, 2006, 02:15:37 PM For mudding stay away from the Rincon, I had one and was dissapointed in its ability. On the trails its an AWESOME quad.

The rincon IS fully automatic, it also has ES (electronic shift) with the pushbutton, if you prefer to change gear manually - although a rincon only has 3 gears opposed to rancher 5 gears.Title: Re: What would you buy?????????????
