Title: 2005 raptor 350 rear axle
Post by: Chris505 on September 20, 2006, 05:23:58 PM
Ok i have the wheels and hubs off, also i have the brake caliper & rotor and chain sprocket off
i am having problems with the jam nut on the axle.. I think it is reverse thread ?????
And if someone knows how big that nut is,, i only have 1 1/2 inch wrench which is to small... im trying a pipe wrench

so my questions are is the jam nut reverse thread and what size is the jam nut ????

Thanks

It is best to loosen the axle nut first, before you remove anything else. You have someone sit on the quad and step on the rear brake and you break the nut loose. then you take the rest of it apart.

I have never done a Raptor 350, but I have done my share and they are all right hand threads. If the nut is on the right side of the swing arm you will turn down twords the ground. If it is on the left side of the swing arm you will turn up to loosen. I hope this helps.
