Title: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: xr100racer on September 19, 2006, 04:48:16 PM I just watched this video on streetfire.net and there was a guy riding a blaster in reverse and shifting gears. www.streetfire.net, go to videos, search for blaster and it should be the eighth one down on the first page and say something like blaster in reverse. i herd somewhere that if you push start it while rolling backwards in 1st gear and pop the clutch it will start and you will be able to drive in reverse like your were going foward and shift through all the gears. i guess the piston is spinning the opposite way. thats what i herd so dont call me an idiot. just watch the video, i dont want to try it on my blaster yet
Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: MachineDog on September 19, 2006, 05:00:02 PM Actually, because it's a 2-stroke, it's completely possible for the engine to turn in reverse. So yes, this is possible. Yet another reason why I hate the crude design of 2-stroke engines..
EDIT: This shouldn't cause damage to your engine, it's just that the crankshaft is moving in the opposite clockwise-counterclockwise direction. A four-stroke can't do this because the camshafts would be moving in reverse and.. well it just wouldn't work. But 2-strokes have such a crude design to increase power-to-weight that this is possible. Check out the way a 4-stroke engine vs a 2-stroke engine works sometime. Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: Ida_Mann on September 19, 2006, 05:00:29 PM I have personally witnessed this happening,,,it is weird.
Id@ Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: bigscrub79 on September 19, 2006, 06:03:22 PM I have seen a diesel engine do this. Thats why you have to wait for the engine to stop completely before you try to start it again. The crank does a slight back rotation when it stops, if you try to start it at the right time it will run backwards.
Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: xr100racer on September 19, 2006, 06:37:18 PM i just tried this and it felt like it was about to start but i dont think i was going backwards fast enough. then it started raining. ill try again tommorow, i think il be better off using second gear

Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: Mrs.Nightbreed on September 19, 2006, 08:20:55 PM We have experienced this at the shop. The blaster has magnets in the flywheel that are unmarked yet in there in a specific order to fire the engine off. You can only put them in there 3 ways and have it fire at all. 1 works perfectly. 1 runs like crap and the 3rd will cause it to fire and run perfectly through all 6 gears in reverse. Here is the catch: each magnet has a +/- like any magnet and they are not marked, so you have to mark them yourself and sit and mess with it until you find the right combination. Nightbreed and SLOW450R spent hours doing this to fix one after a customer unscrewed all the magnets in the flywheel and we reassembled the engine and it went BACKWARDS.

Next time, I will explain Mentos and Diet Coke~! Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: SpringHill Riderz on September 19, 2006, 08:50:59 PM Mentos and Pepsi is easy to explain, when u put it in it go squirt.
Title: Re: !!!Reverse Blaster!!! Post by: xr100racer on September 20, 2006, 10:59:29 PM i think ill go try the mentos trick instead. i tried this about 5 times today in second gear and it sounded like it normally does when i push start it but it wouldnt run. i dont want to mess it up since im trying to sell it right now (2003 - $1600)
