Title: Thunderbowl Opening Night - Thanks
Post by: fastrnrik on September 17, 2006, 09:01:11 PM
I just want to thank everyone who came to race at Thunderbowl last night. There was a great turnout, with 35 quads registered. The races seemed to go smooth with no major incidents, accidents, or injuries. I saw the young guy (I never got his name, Christian I think?) that crashed in practice, and he said his arm wasn't broke. Steve has a black eye and a sore hand, but he hangs out with Tim, so I'm sure that's not the first time he's had that. Derek has a bit of a clay stain on his pants and a dinged up quad, but I'll take that over something serious any day. The pee wees were great. Those Apex quads are FAST. I think that orange one could run me down! I got a kick out of the pee wee on the Suzuki. First they ran out of gas on the starting line, and then the spark plug popped out. I have that same kind of luck! They stuck it out and got it fixed, so all was well.

All in all I think things went well. It was a long night, but considering the amount of classes racing, I think it moved along rather well. There were a few technical problems, but that's to be expected on the first night. It will only get better. If anyone has any thoughts, please feel free to post.

Special thanks to Chris, Doug, and Dave for helping the girls adapt to the Leagues scoring system. I think it worked out well.

Thanks again, and see everyone next time.

I think it was a good night of racing. There are a few things that could have been better, but I see these things getting alot better with time. Great job Brady.

I got there late, but everything looked like it ran smooth. I did however see the "I have feelin's too" guy incident. I wonder if he ate the day old, hit by a mower rattle snake. Anyways, awesome job Brady.

Thanks for a great night and the patience with the minis on the starting line. Also a big hats of for covering for the last owners on the kids trophys from a previous race when they had no trophys. It amazing the importance it is to the pee wees. Our Apex bikes are great bikes my nephew Cody was piloting the orange bike for us due to my daughter broke her wrist at valdosta race. Cody is 11 were the normal rider my daughter is 7 and cant wait to get back out to race. Jason was on our black apex he is also 7 and he was riding totaly awsome hes an animal. We really want to thank all the pee wee that came out the peewee class is all about fun. Thanks again for the great night.
I have a huge hats off to all the guys and gals that get out and race flat track you all put on a great show with knowing the dangers involved.

I can only help you on league info. Which you can find at link on the bottom of my page. Its not to late to join the league as were only two races in and everyone has to drop to races.. It has league dates, rules, membership info, pics, and points. Brady from T-bowl can tell you more about non points nights and what he would require on those nights.

Man that stuff looks like fun. I just wish it wasn't so far for me to go to. :(.  What is the average speed for the novice riders? I am thinking about trying one race but I need to find some tires. Anybody know of a good place to pick up a set? Thanks in advance.

Wesley Chapel's not that far from Ocala! Straight up I-75! At the most an hour? I make it to the airport in Tampa in an hour! If you want to come and race, let me know, I may have a set of tires and wheels you can borrow for the night. If you like it, I'll help you find a set to buy.

Brady how is the track doing?

The track is doing well. We ran about 60 karts on Saturday, and it has a nice groove in it. A few of us went out to practice on Sunday, and it was nice and fast. I am still working on the surface though, because I'm slightly "anal". Plus, the karts feel bumps that we wouldn't even notice. It will just take time and racing for the clay to get some rubber in it, settle down, and work in tight.

I usually go to ONF once a month and it takes me almost 2 hours to get to FR 573. Is the track located somewhere different?

. Man if you are for real I might have to take you up on that offer. I will be riding ONF Oct 7 so I might just stay the whole day so that I can join the race. That would be sweet.  ;D.

The track is within 5 miles of I-75. Look it up on Mapquest: 7197 NW Gainesville Road, Ocala FL
What do you ride, and I'll see if the wheels I have will fit.

Man that is sweet. You are right, it will only take me about an hour to get there. I am riding a raptor 700. Hopefully you will have something to fit it. Maybe I might be able to represent for my fellow raptor riders out there! 8)

The wheels and tires I have are off of a YFZ450, so they should fit your Raptor fine.

Brady, are you running a practice on Sunday. If so we will definately be there.

Are flat track tires required or just preferred for practice?

Man you are a stand up guy. I appreciate your help and I am looking forward to the weekend. What time do they have practice on Saturday because I am going to stay up there the whole day. Also, when you get a chance Brady, send me a PM so that I can get your information to set a time and place we can meet to swap out wheels. Thanks again.

Thanks Dreth. That's a very cool gesture.

jujulo700R, what weekend you are coming? You can swap the tires and wheels right at the track, and then swap back at the end of the night.

Sounds good. I will be at the Oct 7th race. Hopefully I will be able to find you, otherwise I might end up being a spectator :o.
