Title: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: CountryBoy on September 12, 2006, 05:35:29 PM You might of seen my lt-250 in the rides section all up and runnin but not this time.Wrist pin broke and cused some damage to the piston, and head and sratched the walls of the cylinder up pretty good. There is some pics of the borrowed ride that my uncle let me use since hes out anyway from a bad crash. Some pics maybe a little blurry.
There is a big gash on the side. Title: Re: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: UncleRico on September 13, 2006, 02:05:18 PM Any ideas on what caused that?
Title: Re: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: CountryBoy on September 13, 2006, 03:32:59 PM It was the thrust washer. My dad thought it was the wrist pin. There is a picture of the trust washer near the top. You can see where it broke off and that little piece did all that damage.
Title: Re: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: CountryBoy on September 13, 2006, 03:36:37 PM There was also little tiny pieces of the thrust washer logged in the top of the piston.
Title: Re: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: Old_School on September 13, 2006, 05:22:27 PM Check the lower end to make sure no shavings got in it. Also was your 250 on a new bore or was it an old one? I can only think that it was on a old one cause there was too much lateral movement. Cause the head looks dark which is an indication of a rich mixture. Don't see how it would have blew if it was due to a lean condition. -Mark
Title: Re: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: CountryBoy on September 13, 2006, 05:51:42 PM The cylinder and the piston are brand new, the old one was garbage . Ive only ridin the 250 for about 3 months. But the mechanic that is working on it will probably check the low end.
Title: Re: Some damage but a borrowed ride. Post by: CountryBoy on September 13, 2006, 05:52:47 PM But the head was old.
