Title: Mecca Farms
Post by: dnigels on August 17, 2006, 03:57:40 PM
Everyone in Palm Beach County notify Tony Massilotti to open Mecca Farms (formerly planned for Scripps) to ATV's!  Great revenue producer for County.  Needed riding area for us.  Time to Blitzkreig the Commissioners on this topic!

I AM SERIOUS!

If it gets opened it'd be fricking AWESOME. If they put up the dirt road rule we could get there without even having to trailer, it's right down the freeking road.

Huh?

I know him from Mario from back in the day.

If you email him, don't forget to mention FRANK RIZZO.

You can even tell the land manager / owner to be at the OHV meeting.  It will freak him out when he sees a bunch of ATV enthusiast.   Don't give up guys !   You guys really need a place up there.  Organize present a plan and hit him/her with it.

Ain't that the truth - lol.

Get the information and I'm, PB is pretty close to us too.  That would be great, but actually any new place in Florida would be AWESOME for all of us!!

Please keep us posted with any information - thanks... ;)

Tony Masilotti is the chairman and Mecca is in his district.  Unfortunately he is not running for another term (so he says)  The candidates for his seat would be ripe for pressure on this topic too.

Commisioners:
Tony Masilotti  TMASLOT@co.palm-beach.fl.us 355-6300
Burt Aaronson  BAARONSO@co.palm-beach.fl.us 355-2205
Mary McCarty  MMCCARTY@co.palm-beach.fl.us  355-2204
Jeff Koons  jkoons@co.palm-beach.fl.us  355-2202
Karen Marcus  KMARCUS@co.palm-beach.fl.us  355-2201

The Palm Beach County Commission is holding a workshop 0n 9/20/06 to decide what to do with the Mecca site.  EVERYONE e-mail the commissioners and recommend an ATV park.

When you contact the PBC Commissioners regarding an ATV park let them know an ECHO grant may be available to offset startup costs.

Speaking of riding areas, every off-roader in PBC should be suggesting to the county commissioners that the Mecca Farms property next to the Corbett WMA should be turned into an OHV & Skateboard Park. There is approx. 2000 acres of county owned land available, now that Scripps has been relocated. More effort needs to go into aquiring riding areas than complaining about the lack of them. The time is NOW to act on Mecca Farms.....Otherwise, it will be lost to development.....If that happens, we all lose

Don't write to newstips, it will rally people against our cause. The main thing to think about though, is if it does get lost to development instead of as something else, it's going to cause some huge traffic of tractor trailers, construction equipment, etc. Where if it were decided to be an ATV park they could just let us carve out the land. And even if they ever needed the land for housing, they still could turn it into a development.

An atv park would be the least obstructive, destructive and certainly the least expensive thing the Commissioners could do with Mecca.  Including the idea of moving the fair there.

What a joke. All that area to ride and because of jerks who sued when they got hurt in the past has led to a total shut down. Along the B-Line HWY, there is so much land (1,000's of acres) that Palm Beach county bought and claims it to be sensitive and all they are doing is going to sell it for developement. We all know it's true. They are going to make a road from Seminole Pratt to the B-line and we know it, too. Towers was a great place to ride and now it is some stupid tax hole. They spent a fourtune digging and making some kind of thing out there. Then decided to try and make it back to the way it was Oops!? That will all be developed and we know it. Development is so out of hand. The corruption leading to the devlopments is absurd and we know it's happening.

On 9/19/06 the Palm Beach County Commissioners voted to sell Mecca Farms to developers to build 3,800+ homes.  I am sure there was some palms greased and some pockets stuffed by our elected officials over this latest reaming of the public good!

OMG. 3800 HOMES? How the hell is Seminole Pratt going to hold this many cars?!

Title: Re: Mecca Farms
Post by: dnigels on September 20, 2006, 11:14:58 AM
We the tax payers will have to pony up to widen it,  run utilities, build fire stations, schools etc.  Thats not the end of it, there are an additional 20,000 homes planned by developers that already own land to the east (Vavrus) and the north.

I feel like we have been thrown down into the pit with the sodomites.

Grab your ankle folks.

like i said its all a scam.thay buy the land with our money. call it a sensative place to get a tax break, and boom 2 years later its target or a bank or a 3800 home city.look at the okeechobee mud flats.its happing everywhere.oh ya when we buy it we also pay them to have the cops kick us out.
