The Ocala National Forest will sell Christmas tree permits November 27 through December 18, 2004 . The cost of each permit is $7.00 and entitles the permit holder to one sand pine tree from a designated area. Permits may be purchased at the Lake George or Seminole Ranger District offices. The Lake George Ranger District office is located at 17147 E. Hwy. 40, Silver Springs , FL , 34488 . Office hours are weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone wishing to purchase a permit by mail can send a personal check or money order payable to USDA Forest Service to the Lake George Ranger District address above. The permit and a map of the designated area will be mailed to you. The Seminole Ranger District office is located at 40929 State Road 19 Umatilla , FL 32784 . Permits may be purchased during regular business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will only be for areas located on the Lake George District. All permit buyers will receive directions to the tree cutting area at the time of purchase. We used to get them in the national forrests when we lived in Oregon. The permit then cost $1. :)
