Title: Vonage or BrightHouse Post by: Da_Mtg_Man on June 28, 2006, 01:11:48 PM Just wondering who here has Vonage for their phone service. I'm going to switch to either Vonage or digital phone service from Brighthouse cable. Vonage looks to be 24.95 amonth and Brighthouse is 39.99. They look like they're comparible plans. Anyone got insight here?

If that is an issue for you I would look into it. Good luck

Also with Vonage they mail you the modem and you hook it up yourself and you have only the outlet out of the modem unless you yourself tie in the house wiring. With BHN they connect to all the outlets you currently have with Verizon plus they are local 24/7. There is also a Florida plan with BHN that is really cheap. Mike are you trying to get me riled up? LOL.

I figured I'd order the equipment through Vonage and then have you come by and hook it all up.hehehehe I forgot to mention that I need either 2 lines or a distinctive ring type of feature to be able to receive faxes when I'm not there to hit the button. I don't think that BHN has the option yet. With Vonage I can get 2 lines for $35 (1 being a dedicated fax line) I think with BHN I need 2 full lines at $ 40 a piece.Correct me if I'm wrong Keith. Title: Re: Vonage or BrightHouse Post by: Ida_Mann on June 28, 2006, 07:35:58 PM Vonage is not the only one out there,,,,I personally have a Sunrocket VOIP phone at the Deltona house and it works just fine,,,,,,The only issue with VOIP phones is that your phone cords run right out of the device that plugs into your network device,,,,so you need to run your phone cords close to that.
doesn't matter to me cause I have a limited plan that is only 200 minutes per month,,,and free incoming calls for $9.95 per month,,,,no taxes. in fact, just got the first month bill for $9.95. but with their unlimited plan, I think they still have a deal going for $24.95 and you get two free wireless phones. If you have an alarm system we use a spare pair if available to send our feed out to the nid to be first in line in order to be able to commit line seizure or else your alarm will not work properly. Yes Mike BHN only offers one line at this time so you would have to know when you are going to recieve a fax or set up the amount of rings on your answering machine and fax to pick up first depending what you want to answer first. A second line will be offered in the near future though. Mike if you end up going with the enemy LOL. I will still come over and tie your house wiring in for you. See ya.

Id@ [/quote] Not sure what you mean but BHN does not charge an installation fee for their voice services. They initial fee pays for your first months service. They tie in your house wiring and alarm at no cost even if it means running new cat5. There is also a three hour battery back up in the modem should you lose power. When I say we currently offer one line I mean one phone number not one phone outlet. |
