Title: PICAYUNE /SQUARES NEXT TUESDAY 6/20 @ 4:00 PM Post by: lswjth2 on June 15, 2006, 09:22:30 PM Next Tuesday June 20, the SFWMD will be in front of the county commission again regarding the 640 acres for atvs. I believe it will be time specific at 4pm giving us working folks a break. The commission gave the district 60 days to resolve their breach of agreement. I believe they will roll out a plan for a 700 acre riding area in Belle Meade, that will be owned by the state. Then they will ask for another extension. The ownership wouldnt be an issue except for one thing, as we learned the hard way, the state can quickly change land use, and there is a good chance we'll lose this in a few years with no recourse.
The commissioners can either buy into the plan, grant the extension or vote to end the agreement and take the roads back. Understand even if we have the roads, you wont be able to ride off of them. Bottom line is we need a good turnout and pack the commission chamber. It probably will be our last chance to put any input into this. |
