Title: What the heck is this!? Post by: LakeMaryKid on June 11, 2006, 06:50:02 PM I know this isnt the proper forum most likely, but it gets the most views. Im wanting to polish my diamond plate bed rails. They have been covered by a tonneau(sp?) cover for a few years from the looks of the diamond plate. I have an ok shine going now, but there is a coat of something that i dont know what it is. I have tried SOS, Mothers Billet, Busch polish, Rolite. Im baffled right now. Any ideas?
Heres some pics. Im using something similar to it if not better. I dont know if there is something that will cut through this crap or not? Im almost at the point of trashing em and buyin new. Pics of what im using. Title: Re: What the heck is this!? Post by: LakeMaryKid on June 11, 2006, 07:43:22 PM Already tried steel wool. It seems like its a clear coat that someone painted them to try and keep the shine hassle free. :/ I honestly have no idea.
Title: Re: What the heck is this!? Post by: Mrs.Nightbreed on June 11, 2006, 07:49:29 PM Use thinner like you would to remover sticker or glue residue. Then you will have to repolish it as soon as possible, so do a section at a time start to finish.
Title: Re: What the heck is this!? Post by: svtbolt04 on June 11, 2006, 08:22:27 PM Look for stuff called P21s wheel cleaner.. It will work perfect.
Title: Re: What the heck is this!? Post by: GSPKurt on June 11, 2006, 08:59:31 PM If there is a coating on them, try Acetone, but wear gloves and work outside. Don't get it on your truck paint. :'(

Title: Re: What the heck is this!? Post by: dynodon on June 11, 2006, 10:15:25 PM I would try stuff called " white diamonds" along with a buffing pad on a drill, we have used it on brushed aluminum, and that turned out like polished chrome !!
I75 chrome shop carries it, But I dont know where else does though. Good luck Title: Re: What the heck is this!? Post by: Scramdaddy on June 12, 2006, 09:33:32 AM Flitz dem shnitz
