Title: Sand Mountain to close?
Post by: UncleRico on May 23, 2006, 09:01:03 PM
I read in the Lakeland Ledger that the government was forcin the closing Sand Mountain due to zoning regulations.

Does anyone know if this is true?

I can't believe we're losing another place to ride....there's not gonna be any place left.

I wonder when the government will eliminate the word "fun" from the dictionary.

I heard the same thing too the last time I was out there, so I spoke with the people running the place. They told me that they were just rumors and to not believe what they say in the papers or elsewhere. They told me that they weren't going anywhere. I hope that it is true because I really like that place too.

Strange, if it is printed in the Lakeland Ledger, it would be grounds for a lawsuit if it were untrue. Think about the possible loss of business that article could cause. I hope they dont close down, I hope it is a rumor, but these "rumors" are becoming more & more. I dont know if you can trust what you are told by the people manning the gates, remember they are there to make money. 1st time I went there they charged me for my son the 2nd time they said 7 & under is no gate fee, just riding fee??? If we dont come there to ride they lose. Think about the revenue the govt owned riding areas lose because of places like Sand Mountain, maybe the govt is getting wind of the $$$ loss to these parks & they are trying to make it harder on them.
