Title: Darrell scott Testimony (original) Post by: SWAMP_DONKEY on May 18, 2006, 09:16:38 AM DARRELL SCOTT TESTIMONY
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm? On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psycho logist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript: "Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children w ho died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers. "The f irst recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent. I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy-it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame li es! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. "I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today: Your laws ignore our deepest needs, Your words are empty air. You've stripped away our heritage, You've outlawed simple prayer. Now gunshots fill our classrooms, And precious children die. You seek for answers everywhere, And ask the question "Why?" You regulate restrictive laws, Through legislative creed. And yet you fail to understand, That God is what we need! "Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and reek havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restr ictive laws. "Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts. "As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes-He did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America, and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA - I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!" Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: Gunnslinger on May 18, 2006, 09:31:13 AM This is exactly what needs to be said-this guy deserves a round of applause
We need to listen to what this man is saying,We do not stand up for any of our rights and give them away because we are to busy trying to be politically correct in everything we do. We need to start telling our schools and country that we demand the right to pray or not to pray in the school-a moment of silence is not praying and what we choose or our children choose to do during that moment is their God given right!!!!!! Pledge of alligience is not an insult to anyone-if you come to this country then pledge,if you do not like it here then leave!!!!!!!!! We need to stand up for this country as well as our right to ride!!!!!! After all-if we did not live in this country we would not be riding!!!!! I am off of my soap box and hope that i made sense in what i am saying!! I raise my glass to this gentleman and feel such sorrow for him and his family-it is to bad that it takes such a major tragedy to see what is right in front of us everyday!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent!!! Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: Bigscrb15 on May 18, 2006, 10:42:45 AM AMEN!
Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: VForcedave on May 18, 2006, 11:07:34 AM Thats real powerful. I am a true believer of the word of God and we are becoming the minority in this county, only because our government are a bunch of candy asses and are more worried about there jobs than our rights. Its not just the Christians, its everyone. We are loosing our rights as Americans. Thanks for sharing that with us Swamp Donkey. It was well spoken.
Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: dreth on May 18, 2006, 09:04:04 PM i too love the post Swampdonkey ;) great find :ThumbsUp.gif. everyone has to be right and everyone has to see only the bad.......................a select few have open hearts and minds to absorb the message.
Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: Honda328i on May 18, 2006, 09:30:41 PM Scott, that was a great post, and a timeless message no matter how old it might be. The truth is, hardened hearts can't see through all the rhetoric to allow the Spirit of God to speak to them. Having the fortitude to experience faith is a road not highly travelled. :) Those who find it know what freedom is. ;)
Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: VForcedave on May 18, 2006, 09:33:25 PM Swamp Donkey, Keep the faith brother, again thanks for sharing. Some people judge from behind their keyboard. If they knew you and what you are about, that little smbch would not have said anything.

Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: Gunnslinger on May 19, 2006, 09:00:06 AM The one thing i love about this country is the fact that we can sit on this site and argue and air our feelings and ideas(i know i said it-"our Feelings")without persecution.I think that both of you have a great point.I am sure that just sitting praying is not enough and blaming the NRA is also not going to change the world or the state of this country!!!!
I believe that it all comes down to 3 things: PARENTING(i know what a crazy idea) God and our right to say and stop the wrong being done around us!!!!!!! We all know the difference between wrong and right and need to rely on this for this country to change.I beleive that both of you are on the right track and because of all of the distance put between religion and rights it is not surprising that you guys appear to be on different sides of the fence. You are on the same team!!You guys have great points and should make sure they are both heard. Also i think you were right in syaing that prayer doesn't fix it but gives you the strength to fix and that is why our children should be exposed to it as much as possible-That Is Why We founded this country!!!!!! God bless................. Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: TRX450R_Racer on May 19, 2006, 09:06:31 AM Dreth thats a pretty poor analogy.I was trying to inspire thought. When i read the entire testimony it lacked any real direction and turned out to be a half baked sermon splattered with political overtones in support of the NRA and not our government.I didnt just read the poem i read everything, while the poem was pleasant, it didnt address anything thus making it moot.I also tried to address each point (in my"childish rant")or non point Mr Scott made. That is how you properly debate something.Higher educations primary goal is to inspire new thought, to make you see things from angles you never thought of before.I can tell now the only angles in yours and others views are very narrow, thats something to be proud of considering the people who started this country thought completly out of the box. I say read the original post ,read mine than make a better arguement , cause right now there is ignorance abound. I agree with Dreth and all of the lower educated people like myself. It wasn't posted as a debate. It was posted for be shared. It's seems like higher education interferes with judgment and common sense.. Title: Re: Darrell scott Testimony Post by: Honda328i on May 19, 2006, 09:08:32 AM I was just about to say the same thing. Are you saying that those of us w/o "higher education" are ignorant?

God bless................. Well put Gunn slinger, I have said before I agree with Som Bch 100% on his views in certain cases and I agree we are on the same side of the fence. Everything has a place and a time. I only feel we can get our point across much better without the "childish" insults. As far as Mikes P.M. I am always up for healthy bantering and find it fun to have a quick witted opponent but for this to happen you have to know a little about someone for it to be gratifying for both parties otherwise it becomes insults. Uneducated, self-righteous, could fit your profile as well if you would "step out of the box" and look at it from all sides. Anyhow this has made some fun for me and I am sure others in a otherwise uneventful 24 hours. Have a blessed day.
