    Just hung up with Tim from the track, here's what he asked me to pass along:

1st Next race Sat June 10 @ 7PM   NO RACE May 27  (Cancelled)

2nd he apologized for the Micro-Sprints being there on the last Sat , apparently the owner of the track Rick made plans for them to be there without checking the schedule first.

3rd he apologized for the bad track conditions in the main. After the Micro-Sprints put down so much rubber the water wouldn't soak in and the track turned to mud, again because the Micro-Sprints weren't supposed to be there. They are scheduled the 1st and 3rd Sat, we are scheduled the 2nd and 4th Sat.

4th The New Proposal: The Mini-Sprints (fast Winged Sprints) are under contract to use Ocala the 4th Sat of each month through Oct 28. This is obviously in conflict with the quad schedule. The dates that are in conflict are: 6/24, 7/22, 8/26, 9/23, and 10/28. The proposal is to run the quads the same night but earlier. Quad practice would be at 3pm then green flag at 4pm. This should also help get those of us who are an hour or so away home at a decent time and get others to there hotels by check-in.

5th Transponders: In the spirit of scoring everyone correctly (yes you Benny!) the track is considering using transponders mounted on each bike with a scoring loop placed at the Start/Finish line. The number of laps each bike completes and position at the time of a yellow are relayed to the tower so restart lineups are correct also. The cost is APPROXIMATELY 20 bucks and its your to keep and can be used at every race. Nothing on this topic has been confirmed yet. If this idea works you will be able to buy the transponder from the track at registration. This is the same scoring technique used in Hare Scrambles.

  Didnt we just talk about the transponders a few days ago? That would solve a lot of the scoring issues. Did he bring that up or did you propose that? Also the 4pm green flag would be great!

the transponders are the best way to go, no one has to worry about  a person counting laps or scoring a position.  the same type we used in RC racing.  they work great.  very good idea..

    The subject of scoring came up because Lisa is no longer doing the scoring and someone new will have to be broke in. Her job was hard because she did all the scoring by hand whereas with a laptop and transponders most of the work is done for you and you just print the results. The other headache with scoring by hand is trying to keep up with which lap someone is on if they have been lapped.

Keep in mind, superstarr was the guy who came to dade city flat track asking for the "pro class". Me, dave, tim, gary, steven and doug sent both him and his brother home packing every week. then they quit coming... looks like a repeat will happen in Ocala too.. let him run his mouth, that seems to be the only talent he has...  ;)

east coast performance minis will be there with 2 (possibly three) mini quads. Were glad that more minis are coming out and having fun. So how many minis are in so far?  SEE YA SATURDAY!

I need some info on what tires you are allowed to run out there! Also, what tires are everyone running? Flattrack tires, holeshots, etc;?  Where do I get directions, start times, entry fees, practice times, required gear and equipment, etc;?

Any feedback would be appreciative!  I would love to go out and let you guys beat me up a few times!

JT , most  people  run  the  Hooisers  or  American Racer  flat  track  tires.  Its  north  of  Ocala  off  I-75.  Get  off  on  the  HWY 326  exit  and  head  east.  At  the  first  stop  light  turn  right  and  its  about  a  mile  down  on  your  left.  Im  sure  FastLeftTurn  will  pop  up  and  fill  you  in  on  the  rest. ;)

We will be there this Saturday!  Unfortunately, though, I do not have flattrack tires!  If the track will allow then I will run w/ my knobby's.  Thats the only way I will be able to race! :-\

you might want to wait,, as 90% wont be there this weekend...

  Knobbies are typical in the beginner and intermediate class but Hoosiers or American Racers are the norm in the open class.

I would think somebody would have a spare set you could use.

   Since you run expert at SM you may prefer to run expert at Ocala but knobbies have a real bad habit of hooking when sliding sideways and causing a violent flip ( ex. GasGasman, Chuck Norris, the guy on the Kaw 700) so old worn out tires would probably be best but if you would instead like to run intermediate or beginner just til you get used to the track go ahead. Just my .02. :)

Please know that Im not trying to say that Im the Best Rider in the world, but.......  I think it would be unfair for me to race the Int. or Beg. classs! 
I know what Ill do!  Ive got like 5 full sets of tires, 2 of which are somewhat wore out!  Ill get on the pavement and smoke the rest of the tread off and just have slicks!!!!  ;D 
Then again, that might not be the best thing either! But, If the track is somewhat loose (like Dade City's was) and not blue grooved, then I will be OK with my knobbys. Any advice would be helpful!  thanx

racing.. there are always hard words with someone at sometime for everyone. but nothing that was left open every thing was squashed (so i thought). Plus its been quite some time since then what kind of bi-polar, demented person would wait months and months to get something going. Im not worried about it. If i knew who it was i might get worked up over it but since this POS is hiding, I know its just someone tring to get something going. Seeing how ive asked who he is more than once and he is to much of a wimp so say it. So im not taking it personal. When Dade City first started runnin' the Flattrack, Randy invited My brother and I to try it out because he knew we used to run flattrack series.  When we got there and got on the track we didnt make 2 laps before this old grubby bass turd came out yelling at us like we were laying his wife or something.  Saying, "What the hell are you doing out here?  Get off my track! etc;"
We told Randy and he did everything short of beating that guy for talking to us like that and explained that he invited us out there and so on!  It was like he was Randy's little beotch!! My point is, Was that the Colin guy that you guys are talking about.  And if it is, he is such a retarted freaking prick, and I would like to beat him down. >:(
So, when we race on the 10th, I guess Ill find out!

   I have read enough clues on here that point blame towards Colin but I hope they are wrong. Colin has always been nice to me and my son, why he is after my bro I have no idea. If it is indeed Colin he needs to discuss it with Chris and settle it privately. I do know that Colin does get hot when quads show up with knobbies and groove the bottom around the track but it was Randy who told me on the phone in January he was shutting down any flattrack racing on Saturday nights. Back in December Randy also showed his butt in front of the whole flattrack crowd while Colin was grooming the track 30 minutes before we were supposed to race. Sliderguy, you have hijacked this topic enough, let it rest.

Need to make absolutely sure that it is who u think it is before you start using names. Good way to make your self look real bad. They already dont want quads at dade city.   As far as the track goes, we all know you dont want quads there and the only reason we were there on Sat nights is because there were no 2 wheelers. If there was you would have gripped the whole time that you only wanted YOUR crowd there... just like on Thursday nights.. Keep in mind Dave and I heavy promoted the Flat track and never got a simple thanks from you or Randy..

Now we can drop this, However if you chose to keep this going the outcome will not be good... Plus Im sure Randy wouldnt want his "boy" starting a fights on county property with all the problems hes having right now..Plus i dont think you want to lose your home and job you have over this.... seeing how you live on county property I dont think Pasco county would like your "you know where i live comment"  ;D

I can't wait to see how our 330's stack up. Your Sand Mountain crew came down and ran with the intermediate class guys so they have seen all us in person. It will probably be a month before ours are fresh again.

P.S. Don't count your chickens bro, ALL those Open class guys are fast, you will see!!

Not countin chickens, just talkin smack!  The 330's will do just fine!  More motor on that track is not necessary!  You can work every inch of HP out of a 330 so they it has constant pull throught the whole track!  That track is a little small for the 400 motor and its hard to get the full effect of the quad because when it starts to come on you have to let out of the throttle.  So I definately think you guys wont have an ounce of problem outrunning us!  Besides, Ill be ridin a 4-stroke! Marshall will be ridin the 400. 
Also, I dont know anybody who has raced that track so I dont know who to ask as far as what to expect!  But Ill try to get FT tires between now and then! ;D

But seriously, we just want to race- bigger motor, smaller motor, whatever.  I know that you guys will show us a few things. Just hope I can catch on quick! 
But I do still disagree that bigger is always better! Sometimes dialed in, set up well, and bad azz is just as good!  This coming from a guy that almost always has the bigger motor! ???  Does that make me a hippocrate!?  ::)  But, Me personally. I would almost rather have a really tuned 330-350 on an oval track than an uncontrollable HP beast. Or maybe i just need to learn to ride better! :D

my new 330 engine should make 70 hp!!! that is as much as your 400!!! or at least as much as mp racing claimed! i have no doubt in my mind that i will be able to use every bit of it!!!!! (i will prove it when the time comes)  who are you kidding???? the more power the better!!! why would you want less power??? thats just retarded :N you should never try to detune the motor!! you should get all the motor you can and tune the chassis around it!!!if you think of your bike as an uncontrolable beast than you have it tuned wrong!!!!! :D not good! ;)

they have strong engines, its getting those monsters to handle in the corners thats tricky!!!

70 hp out of a 330cc single cylinder on gas? Im not calling BS, thats just pretty hard to belive.. assuming this is a conservitive dyno your using.. Its just even some of the 500cc Saber cylinders on ALKY are getting 85-90 @ best.  Then again just about every different dyno will give you a different reading..

70 Hp is calculated not RWHP measured. There are alot of inconsistencies with different dynos but Derek is dead on. With the right timing and a motor that can rev and pull while doing so 70 is not out of the question. You just don't want to Trail ride, or MX on an engine tuned like ours will be. Right now we have about 58-60 calculated and we are looking to tweak them track specific to Ocala Tunderbowl.

P.S. RTR_380 You are dead on, dialed in is better than an uncontroled beast especially when you are out of shape like me!

wait and see chris, wait and see!!!  I GOT TRICKS DAWG!!!!!!!!  8)   i am going off of the dyno of my exact engine combo.it has 57.5 hp so all i am saying is i will have 12 hp more than last time i raced!!!  numbers will vary with different dynos for sure. chris, mabey one day i will show you some of these tricks....   ;)

I spoke with Neil recently and he is getting just over 100HP measured on his Saber Kits and 90+ on gas.

 :) Well with all the talk of HP., I will now tell the secrets of the Cali bike motor. 1988 250r with black painted case,  cyc has been painted silver,(better air flow)   after market pipe (don't know who made it, and don't care)  billet ESR shifter and brake pedals (saves weight), new hose (only because it sprang a leak), over sized air scoops (motor kept over heating) one new ESR motor mount and one stock motor mount (that's for motor torque) three differant tire sizes (and one of them goes flat all time) and with all of this it get a monsterus 37 H.P.   ;D  and that the truth.   and yet it can still run out front with three differant riders. ;)

explain "measured"... dynoed or no? lets use dyno numbers since most of us understand that. assuming once again its a consertive dyno, not like Trinitys or A&S' inflated dyno numbers. :o  Disclaimer: Most of know if you take one bike off a dyno and put it on different dyno its likey to have differnet numbers, i have seen 15% difference from dyno to dyno.. on a 100 hp motor thats 15hp..

From what I understand Neil has his own or easy access to a dyno(measured). He has been getting Matt Shearer to build his own custom pipes around some different porting configurations. He now claims over 103( Drag only )and about 100( in frame pipe) with his latest setup on alcohol. He is getting around 90+ on gas with an inframe pipe.

As far as what we plan on doing, we are going to change a few things to get more HP and test to see if it can still work well. We don't know if it will be too much and it will be time to tame it down again, but there is only one way to find out. We are trying not to be complacent because the competition is so fierce right now and I suspect will only get faster. Derek knows his stuff and I think our results should speak for themselves. Powerwise, his 330's absolutely rip right now and I would leave well enough alone but that is just not Derek, He is always looking to add more power as I always worry something is going to break.

Anyways, Calculated HP for 2 strokes is just:

BHP = (Brake Mean Effective Pressure x Stroke x Area of your piston x  RPM)/ 33,000

This is obviously not taking into consideration the losses of a real bike but it sure is cheaper than a $5000 dyno. LOL

We seem to do an OK job at tuning!  But it will be great to run w/ some quads that are as fast as ours or faster.
Who would be interested in going to a Sand Mountain practice day one Saturday or Sunday!  We could run their 1/4 mile oval and the TT!  Ill show you boys some TT racing and you can show my some Flattrack racing!

Im fairly sure by the seat of the pants feel this 370 i put together isnt even in the
60hp range id be suprised with 55hp. my 4mm cub put out 98hp (gas)  and my 10mm cub was 130hp and was a HANDFULL at the drags with a +10 swinger and wheelie bar. I could keep the front end down no matter what.  I need to get my bike to the dyno since they have an O2 sensor and see what it lays down. But Dyno numbers arent THAT impressive to me because i have seen how much they vary. but i feel they are a good tuning tool.  you guys quit getting so uptight, everyone know you guys have fast bikes, no need to worry..

Straight from Eddie they are a little tame. You can tweak them up a little and see some real gains. I don't want to spill any beans here but I am sure you know where I am going with this......... ;). You are right though, 70 HP on a Banshee is so easy that its ridiculously easy to acheive. At some point though, even a little more power means alot less reliability and more headache ($$$$ too). This is where I am trying to stay away from. Plus as anyone who races will tell you engine certainly isn't everything, your 37 HP cali bike runs really well and twice the power won't equal twice the speed, but it will be alot more money to rebuild etc. I prefer having the extra money to just race more and get into better shape. That's the cheapest way to be faster!

Right now I wish our bikes handled better. I have been racking my brain to try and do this and it seems like everytime I make some adjustments the track changes on me. Ocala is by FAR the most difficult track to try and dial in. It just moves around on you too much. All the more reason to just find a balaced setup and not worry too much about perfection. Last time Derek raced my bike we changed very little and still did O.K. just a little too wild I want to tame it down some and try and make it a smooth consistent racer (no spinouts) LOL. Anyways, HP isn't where its at, speed is and that is what I hope we can keep getting more of.

P.S. I am intrigued by Banshees these days. I might find one to play with and see if I can get it to work. One thing for sure 70 HP would be easy!

Yout right about the track, its inconsistent, when its dry we gear up when its wet and hooking we gear down.. its a never ending battle.
I just finshed rebuilding my 421 cub, it has a drag port but im using kawasaki (sp) pistons that have a smaller window to make up for the torque loss. Hopefully i can get it out there break it in and get it jetted. It would be nice to have a back up.
I actually might be selling it and picking up another 250r, they are wife friendly..

What kind of water temps are you guys getting on the 250r's in race trim?

we are not sure as we dont have temp. guages yet.. they are on order...they never overheat unless something is wrong. the one time scotts overheated it had the stock 88' radiator. old and crusty!!!!!! got a new one and no problem sense. i have had a new radiator sense i first built my bike so i have never had a problem...you mean your not racing the 370!!??

Not saying that my 400R isnt fast.  Havnt had ONE SINGLE R outrun it yet. Just imagine if I actually  pushed it to a 440R or even just ported it!!! :o  But......... dont count my 450 out!  Remember we built it to be a TT bike!  It definately aint no slouch!!! I can promise you that It performs better than the last 4-banger you beat on the 13th!  It has outrun the last two $4000 Baldwin motors it has raced. 8)

Yeah, I guess! Got some tires coming for both 450's and the 400R, Ill race the 450 and Marshall will race the Polanda. Were gonna bring another 250r (pretty much stock) and maybe POPS will race it.  Were not even going to try to set them up for the track until we race the track for the first time.  Were just gonna run our TT/MX setups and see how we do with just changing to FT tires.  Dont think I can beat you guys to the hole but Ill be close and we will see what happens from there.  We havnt raced True Flattrack in 10 yrs.  Its time we give it a run again.

It will be some time before we can see. A 400 Polanda SHOULD be faster than us. But like anything, I am certainly not going to roll over and play dead. I want to win just as much as everyone in the open class and if you beat me, I'll be the first to shake your hand because you earned it. I don't sandbag and I give it all I have got every time I race. I sense that the kidding has hit a nerve and I don't want to set the stage for any hard feeling even before we MEET you guys. Its all cool, Derek and I have had good sucess so far and I hope to keep it up but who knows.

Tim Sisson is a super good rider and he will be miserably hard to beat. I think you will find that out. I am going to bow out gracefully for now as I really need to rebuild the 18 year old parts in my engine. But I can't wait to see what your 450 and Polanda have up against my 330R. I hope to be the hardest most miserable competition you have seen in a while ;) when we meet in a month or so. In the meantime, Derek and I will come down to watch and spy on you guys ;D and see how fast those bikes are in person June 10th.

As far as the 400R not being way faster than my 450-- Im trying real hard to be humble!  :-X The 400 will speak for itself. Not saying there arent R's that can outrun it, but Ill tell you there hasnt been one yet.  Keep in mind Ive raced an ESR 380 PV motor for a long time that outran every R It went up against.  The 400 is FASTER! And with no actual motor work! The problem is keeping it from spinning so much. But if you think the other 4-bangers there are going to outrun me  :D You might be right, we'll just have to see! But Ive beaten 380's, 350's, 330's, and the 400R with it!  Alot different kind of racing though! ???

Just like a 2 stroke will never win a National MX race,  a 4-stroke will never win a National Flattrack race!  Keep in mind though...........  Im a badazz rider on a TT track. 8)
When you got to turn right and left and jump, it becomes a different story.  They always hawk me down on the straightaways, I just eat their lunch in the corners!  Ill never outrun the 400 on a Flattrack.  I probably wont outrun the 330 or a 350 on a flattrack.  I will outrun the 4 bangers! ;D

Here  I  is  JT !  I  will  tell  everybody  this.  No  sh!t  JT  can  ride.  Ive  seen  him  many  times  at  Sand  Mt.  and  hes  smooth  and  fast.  As  for  that  400  he  keeps  yakin  about  well  yea , its  VERY  fast.  GASGASMAN  might  get  mad  at  me  for  saying  this  but  we  snuck  over  the  the  sand  drag  track  at  Sand  Mt.  and  the  400  put  a  whoopin  on  the  Phillips  550.  Thats right , a  KTM  powered  quad  thats  just  about  like  the  same  as  his  400.  Thing  is  all  you  suckas  in  trouble  when  I  bring  out  the  zilla  cause  I  gonna  get  ya ! ;) ;D

The Banshee's are drag bikes but could easily be converted to flattrack!  The blue one is just a 350 motor w/ alot of work on alky and NOS.  The white one is a 540 T Rex motor on alky!  We havnt run them in a while!

We also have 2 more 250R's- one is a 270 and the other is a true 250 with a little work.
And I also just got an 06 450R that aint no slouch! 

I just want to race the 4 stroke for some experience!  ;D

What's up guys. Some of you guys seem pretty sharp, so I need to pick a brain or two. We have just started on a Polaris 400 project, with the intention of maybe running it on the flat track. I'm sure some/most of you guys are gonna rag on us, but it's all good and we like to be different. I know there are several resources out there to make the Polaris 2 stroke engine pretty stout, but I was curious if anyone knew of a local place that deals with these, as most of places I've found are out of state. Also, has anyone seen or have any thoughts on lowering the Mcpherson Strut front suspension? Like I said we're just getting started on this little project, so any input from firsthand knowledge or past experience would be appreciated.   

Daryl Rath of Rath racing would be the guy to talk to. Years ago he raced that engine and had an extremely good setup to make it competitive. That is the only guy I know besides Rick Ritter that even messes with them.

RT Racing!  Rick Todd is one of the best 2-stroke engine builders in the country! He did a Polaris 400 top end on my brothers 250R and it is really fast and reliable!

I was there on the 3rd honestly the track was the best for some time. I think the rain helped alot. There is a whole new crew of people working the track we were done by 10PM but there was only 5 quads and 2-3 other races. see you all Sat.
