Title: Hi im new here VERY IMPORTANT about sarno flats
Post by: BearfootdBubba on January 11, 2005, 08:32:20 AM
On friday night there was 3 people killed at sarno exstention no where near the flats where we ride because some idiot was careless behind the wheel near doug conners construction and flipped over in the ditch in a stock jeep wrangler. My dads fiancee`s boss bought 15 acres on the main road that leads to sarno flats and she is a really extremely rich horse lover and belives sarno flats and four wheeling there and everywhere should be banned yet she rides her million doller horses and has my dads GF and her sister take care of them..... anyhow back to the story there is a 2 main roads to sarno flats and the exstention is a place where people launch there airboats and go from there and where some people like to go fishing or watch the guys go muddin from a very good safe distance and before the exstention really starts there is doug conners construction and the dog pound well to either side of them is a very deep ditch and thats where they flipped over. Nowhere close to the flats or the riding areas. I sympathise for the people that died but it was his own careless fault from what i understood. They were all supposed to goto the movies and some were young as 15 and snuk out and the guy who was driving was getting mad and than finally agreed to turn around whipping the truck around one of the pregant girl grabbed the wheel and thats what caused them to go in the ditch the only reason why she survived is cause her window was open from what i heard. Florida today wrote an article on it saying all people who goto sarno flats are out there and out of control and irresponcible. Also people on the florida today website are saying it should be closed down and I posted back saying accidents kill people on aurora and wickham and wickham and lake washington road all the time you going to close those intersections for good cause of someone being killed and the people reacted to me like no they should just close down sarno flats. I got news for you i been going out there for over 13 years and crue cab has been going out there well over 20 years we both never rolled any of our vehicles including lifted up trucks and four wheelers or in my case airboat as well and just cause one accident the people think it should be closed and they wanna ban the area we ride cause someone was drunk and ignorent. that in my eyes is the most ludacris thing i could ever imagine florida really needs more offroad venues in a controlled state of some kind like they have out west or in tellico and other places.

First off.. welcome to the site.

Secondly, welcome to our everyday issues in 4-wheeling. Places getting shut down due to someone's irresponsibility is a problem that we face on a daily basis. Its a problem that people complain about.. but no action is ever done about it. As always, we can b*tch here all day long, but that isnt going to change a thing.

Belive me i know my new friend it just hurts to see that about one of florida biggest riding spots they already closed the compound and whats next 5a/mims/scottsmoore i try my best to keep four wheel drives alive i help work on tons of mud trucks and help put on the county line saloon mud boggs once a month. Im techincally not bitching im just tired of the news only being one sided on four wheel drives if they saw the amount of crap we clean up at holopaw and sarno flats each year espcially 2 years ago at sarno flats when we took out close to 8 cars cause of idiots that dont care. If the news really saw the good points and the counties and state would to this state would be like other states and have true ORV parks and dedicated riding areas.

BTW my DD is a 96 tacoma 4x4 of course and my bike is a 2005 polaris sportsman mossy oak edition
