Title: holyland riding, keep it open
Post by: brett711 on May 12, 2006, 11:23:32 PM
yall know holyland/rotenberger wma is the only legal place to ride in broward/palm beach..

speaking with an fwc officer last week, there was mention that if people dont stop speeding on the levees, and trash does not get picked up, they will close the area...its not hard to throw your trash in a bag, and as far as speeding on the levee, the fun iis in the mud and in the marsh..not just that, there have been more injuries this year because of the carelessness on the levee..ride responsible and pass the word along to those not on the atv website..

Before closing it down I would just suggest to close the Levee's to ATV's.  No more riding on the Levee's would prevent almost all the accident's.  It might make it more inconvenant to trailer your bike to the spot you want to ride but I would do it to keep the area open.  Everytime I go there people are speeding down the Levee's, jumping it or doing donuts where everyone parks.

The levee  deffinately needs to be open or it would be a pain. The speed limit just needs to be more inforced. I know the sport guys like zooming around real fast but, there's just too many trucks driving up and down and too many chances for accidents on the levee. Try and leave the speed to the trails.

Glad Brett brought this up .
The few will ruin it for all and then were do we go ? Either way it will be one less place to ride.
I have to disagree with closing the levees even though it will put a stop to the problem.

What usually works is fines , the more expensive the better. I realize the fwc is strecthed thin in most areas but if they could pull this off on a busy weekend the word will spread fast .Once dad or the kid gets hit hard in the wallet they think about it next time.

Another concern and this goes out to all the idiots out there.
Please stay clear of parked trucks when do doing donuts or slinging rocks or whatever.
One of the airboat ramps i used to put in at was also a parking spot for atv riders .The problem was if you have a new truck or a paint job you care about you better not park there because retards were every where.

Luckily my old primered chevy wasnt fazed by the pelting but one guy wasnt so lucky. His brand new F250 had countless dings and damage caused by the efects of rocks hittin the truck . When you see stupidity like that its no wonder we get a bad rep.
Lets watch  our selves so we dont have to be watched.
