dont know about bikes but on a car a backfire would cause the muffler to blow. usually from an introduction of oxygen(lean)into the exhaust. possibly an exhaust leak., or a defective weld at the seam. Post by: Joedirt on May 11, 2006, 03:59:46 PM It is not a real visible seam , rather hidden but looking close you can see it , and that is where is seperated , and the metal was pushed out like it BLEW...so I guess you are correct Gery . So I can assume my bike was running a bit lean prior to the blow out?

that or out of timing. you could always pull the plug and see whats going on in the cylinder. remember i am using my automotive knowledge and applying it to atvs. the 4 stroke theory i believe is the same regardless of size or application.
