Title: Garmin Mapsource Tip Post by: scrambledeggs on January 19, 2005, 01:21:39 PM I was unimpressed by the fact that you have to run the maps from cd. Its slow and you have to drag out the cd's with you. Here is a solution:
Copy your cd's to your hardrive (I only copied the East CD and I put it in the C:\Garmin directory) Run regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Garmin\MapSource\Products Under that I have 4 entries, labeled 6 through 9. These correspond to Alaska, Hawaii, West and East US. Each one of them contains 3 keys. Bmap and Tdb will already be on your machine, Loc will point at a subdir of your CD-ROM. Just change that subdir to point at the location of the appropriate subdir of the cd you copied. (In my case the key value would be C:\Garmin\East) |
