Thats right...I'm finally makin it out to Holey Lands for the first time Saturday morning...can't even explain to you how excited I am.  I will be on a Bombardier Outlander max 400...if anybody sees me, don't be afraid to say whats up!  Oh by the way, are there trails that are better than others?  I guess I'll have to figure that out by myself   :-\

Are there tons of trails there?  I hope so, I'm tired of riding around my neighborhoods "Illegal" spots.  I hope that I love it, then I'll be out there like every weekend!

The best part is closed until May 1, but it is still fun since it is legal...
It is like riding in a giant field of swamp on the open south side, but I bet it is real dry now  so you can probably get to where only airboats normally tread.
They had a big ride out there last weekend, hopefully someone will post a report on how it was.

are there trials there?  I love trial riding (more so than muddin)  I guess I'll find out when I get there, but I would like to have an idea before...

  I have never been before, but I believe that there is no cost...and I don't know if it is better than Underhills since I haven't been to that one yet either.  I have a Utility ATV (I know that you have a sport) so I don't know if you really wanna ride with me (seeing as speed isn't my main concern on my quad  ;)    )  Anyways, hopefully I'll see you out there!

Last weekend, it was dry and you had to look for places to get stuck in the mud. However, yesterday, we got some rain so it will NOT be as dry, but, it should be dry enough to ride for miles and miles on dozens of trails. We'll be out there, just not yet sure if we're doing day and/or night rides. Look for a red 03 Outy(Rob), green 05 Outy 800(Tom), 05 Raptor 350(Derek), 06 Rincon(Steve), maybe, yellow 05 Polaris(Barry), yellow 04 Eiger(Larry).

Going sat morning. Three 4x4's some sport quads and dirtbikes. Trails r basically through 4 ft tall grass. It is a great place to ride day or night.

People bring everything u can ride out there. Mopeds,gokarts,buggies,full tracks airboats and fishing. We will be at the first parking area to the right. White dodge 4 dr green trailer.

You'll have fun, where you park at the bridge you can just explore all over the place. I'll find out if we can go sunday, but my bro has a game tommorow so we can't. We've only explored so far but we've gone 8 miles into the sawgrass on the south side of the bridge, traveled the water a bit and the mud pits. But we've never been there longer than about 2-3 hours so we haven't been able to travel very far.

Actually I was going to invite this guy I know w/ one.  It's only a 150cc.  I just got to ride my first time yesterday since Feb.  I'm hurting.  Nice little sand pit over here off Northlake Blvd.  So as long as my neck is feeling better I should be out.  Sunday most likely. (as long as I can find the place)

We won't be there until late afternoon, gotta replace my brake pads and find a coolant leak and wife's bike.

So Dev, how'd you like the Holeylands?  Awesome place, isn't it?  You will find yourself praying for next January and it to be dry enough to ride again.  The more it rains, the tougher it gets out there so get your riding in now.  You've only got 3 or 4 more decent weeks out there before it becomes a mudfest.  By mid-June, riding a quad out there is out of the question unless you don't mind riding the levee.

Wasn't that bad when I was out there a couple weeks ago. I only got stuck once. Maybe for sports but, we have yet to see the really bad stuff. :) I can't wait till we get some good thunderstorms.

  HoleyLands was AWESOME!  I was quite impressed...just enough mud for me to have fun, but I truly just enjoy riding the trails - thank God that I went with my neighbor (who also has a Utility) because I got stuck like 5 times (I can't help it, sometime the mud just calls me) 
But I will def be back again...next weekend they open all those other trails - when I first got there I didn't know that they were closed, so I ventured onto the North side of the canal...didn't get caught but I had a lot of fun (I honestly didn't know) Can't wait till those open (actually they should be open now)
Where you there this weekend?  I gotta start makin some ATV friends...I only have my neighbor now, and without him I don't wanna go out on the trails (I don't wanna be alone and get stuck!)  Hope to see you guys out there!

I went into those trails my first time out there before i found out the where closed and they were fun. Im heading out there this weekend again and check those trails out now that they are open ;D

We should all plan an ATV Florida Holeylands trip. Would be so cool. :D Just gotta find out when my dad'll be able to take us. He was working yesterday so we couldn't go. And he'll won't be working next saturday but there's always a game on saturday.. hmm. Might be able to go on the 14th.. Need to get the rancher muddy finally, you gotta be careful on those everglades trails. I hit that ditch coming out of the trails into the mud pits at about 40mph and flew about 10 feet. Thank god for the helmet, I couldn't ride hard though for a week since I bruised the crap out of my wrist. :'( What sucked the most though was we were only there for like an hour and a half because of that. I'l like to see rottenberger next time and more of holeylands.

May 14th huh?  I would rather ride on Saturday (so that I get a day to "recover" before I head back into another work week)  Maybe the 13th?  what do you think?

I'm heading out this Sunday and maybe a Saturday afternoon/evening ride as well.  I just bought my son a mini race quad and he is dying to try it out.  I can't wait to see him on the trails with it either. 

was out there last weekend,with 9 four wheel drive 4wheelers.we went 22 miles straight south and found some serious mud..thank god for gps,didn't get back to the trailer until 8pm....we rode a round trip of 52 miles sunday.....going out again this weekend,,with a total of 12 quads in our group.....love that mud!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I was there Saturday...Rode for exactly 75 miles of trails...boy was I tired!  And thank God that my partner has the GPS on his 4 wheeler...otherwise I might still be out there!  I'm thinkin about heading that way this Sunday...shouldn't be too muddy (I don't think that we've gotten any rain this week)  Hope to see you guys there!

What's up everyone! Im new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I see there are plenty of people in thi this forum from the palm beach county area? Im looking to meet new ATV riding friends and go out on some group rides. I keep hearing about this Holey Lands place but cant find the directions? Can anyone tell me where it is, or point me to a thread where the directions are at? Can i ride my sport bike out there at Holey Lands??

Also DevoCorum i see your in boca. Not to far from me. Im right in west palm. Of forest hill on the east side.

I usually ride out at L-Cross in okeechobee! That place is fun but its mainly only mud. They have a few trails out in the back tho. Good place to go riding tho! Anyone else here go to L-cross? Its the Adult weekend this weekend and i was thinking about heading out there. Let me know if anyone is going?

  Whats up?  Yeah, I'm down in Boca, but I keep my bike up in Wellington (my parents have a place up there...much more room) so if i'm ridin its usually around there.  Holey Lands is awesome...I would recomend it strongly!  The only thing is that I ride a Utility quad...and back on the trails at holey lands there are a lot of mud.  I don't know how a sport quad would make it out there...but there are a lot of trails out by the levy that are pretty dry.  I've never been up to L Cross...is it just a big mud pit?  I like a mixture of trails and mud...but I'm down to try anything.  If you ever wanna ride just PM me

o i see. yea i keep reading there are some places for sportbikes. But im not sure if i really want to take the 1 hour + drive there to see i cant even ride. L-cross is a lot of fun. It is basically a mud pit, but the pit is so huge and there are so many riders its fun and there is always someone to pull you out! And yes even you can get stuck out there. Keep in touch, i'd definitly like to ride with some people. my atv is out in loxahatchee so its not too far!

directions to holylands

from broward county take us highway 27 north to the palm beach borward border line.. make u turn and then make a right where it says holyland/rotenberger wma...go down to 2nd bridge and park on either side..
holylands is to the north, everglades wma is to the south... rotenberger is all the way down to the pump house..hope this helps..

if you are coming from palm beach, i think you take 80 west to 27...then all the way down..

Our friend has a 2 wd sport bike. We make it to all the camps no problem. Go u will have fun

i just go up chrome then take 27 all the way down till the powerlines cross the road then i think there is a sign?then just turn into the little road on the levy.Its about 19 miles past the truck stop next to the griffin turn off thing.

Yes, it's where the power lines cross 27 and there's a pump house on the east side of 27. But, the sign is still laying down where you can't see it(Hurricane Wilma).

Don't worry about going to Holeylands this time of year with a sport bike.  I was out there 2 weeks ago and burned two tanks of gas in my Raptor and never hit any mud.  The mud that is around is easily avoided.  That will change quickly once it starts raining, though.  Enjoy it while you can.  I love it out there!  There is just enough moisture in the muck to make for a nice pair of roosts.  Don't get too close behind me with out goggles!   ;)

is there any rules out there like age limit cuz we are 17&15 and we are driving in his truck with our atvs and trailer (he has his drivers lisince)

The only rules out there are the rules of common sense.  If your noggin isn't worth wearing a helmet, then that's a decision you have to make, however, I would expect that Florida law requires all minors to ride a helmet when operating a motorcycle or atv.  I would highly recommend wearing a helmet.  There are rocks, some logs and definitely other riders.  You don't want to leave there in a yellow bag.  Also, while you are riding around, don't trash the place up.  Clean up after yourself and if you see trash laying around, pick it up and take it with you.  This is one of the last great riding areas in South Florida and as more and more riders head out there, it is so important that we exercise good judgement and clean up after ourselves.  Used to be you would rarely see Game Wardens or Sheriffs out there.  Now, they are out there all the time.  They are out there because of the problems some riders are causing and the injuries and deaths that have occurred.  You will love the place.  Treat it with respect and we'll have it for a long time.  If you think they won't/can't take it away from us, just ask riders from Naples about Badluck.

If you see two silver jeeps, stop by and say hi.  We'll be on the north east side on the pump station Sat.

15 y.o. is required by law to wear a helmet or you will be fined, no warnings.

anyonew under 16 has to wear a helmet.night riding you have to have lights.thats all im aware of so far.

I believe it's 25 mph on the levy

basically the rules are pretty simple...
no riding crazy on the levy (25 mph) no wheelies or jumpin on the levy
Besides that once you're off on the trails, there really are no rules (exept at night you have to have headlights AND taillights) 
The rangers are pretty nice as long as you follow the rules...And now ALL the trails are open which is pretty cool.  You will def have fun out there...its a good group of people.

actually, I'm probaly headin out there Sunday morning (early like I'll be riding by 7:30)  but I'll stay there until like 2 in the afternoon (a ride like that can wear you down!)

It's where the huge powerlines are. BTW, 400ex, and klutch. We all need to plan a good ride. :) Holeylands rules, ofcourse, I haven't been anywhere else legal yet.. The 14th is mothers day so we can't go then. Maybe the 21st? Hard to find a weekend my dad's off and it's not something going on. BTW, Devo: Do you have the I4 in that ranger? Just wondering how it holds up to towing the quad.

yea im going to be fixin my rancher soon once i get the xtra 20$$  so ill be out there for sure and will soon have a BF750 (trading the rancher in on it )
also MachineDog how dose ur rancher hold up out there with stock tires i dont got my vamps any more so ill be running stockers with my snorkel and hmf pipe

Great, Much better than my ole' recon. You can still get stuck if you're stupid but, I only got stuck once. And that was cause I got stuck on my butt in a steep mud pit with only the left front tire on solid ground. Quick tow out though from the Cat. I'll ask my dad later wether or not the 21st is fine to go riding and meet up with some of ya'll. BTW, Good luck on that BF750. I think my next one will be a Sportsman 500, really like the plush handling and the hard plastic racks instead of metal. Otherwise I'll be considering the BF650. But meh, not for another couple years lol. Oh yeah, I got the K&N and now I have like $100 to play with, what would you recommend to get? Is the unlocker really worth it?

  I don't tow my quad, I shove it up into the bed of the truck (its only a 6 ft bed - so it is a tight squeeze), but it works like a charm...and there is absolutely no problem with carrying that thing.  I wouldn't mind joining you guys for a holey lands ride...whenever just let me know - i have the bombardier Outlander 400 (2003)  I have stock everything so i get stuck in the mud ALOT but I don't mind   :P  still lots of fun!

That's cool. My parents are prolly gonna get a good fuel mileage vehicles for my dad to drive to work for the next 2 years and then give it to me to use so I'm trying to decide what car/truck. And at 24/29 for the ranger you can't beat it for trucks. My dad's driving his 13 mpg F-250 to work lately.

Devo, I've still got my 03 Outy. An enormous IRS bill had delayed my new 800. Some of us, plan to ride Holeyland @ 3pm Saturday. We'll have a couple of kids with us, so it'll be slow to moderate trail riding, if you want to join us.

nvm i wont be running stockers i got my old tri claws back from a friend but they are 25-12.5-12 all around so i doono about them in the front if it will turn them to well on stock front rims and stock back rims(forman )

I would think it'd turn them just fine. The thing's a torque monster. Looks like it'll be 20th or 21st, gotta find out which day is my cousins babys birthday.
