Title: In Polk County? Found a place!!! Post by: Mulchman on April 21, 2006, 07:57:13 PM I've asked this before. But I wonder if there is any new places to ride near Winter Haven. I just got finished lengthening my trailer so I can take the whole family. My little one's atv is one of those little 50's with the small tires. So all I am looking for is some kind of trail riding with a little mud thrown in. She's a true southern girl. Likes to get muddy. Deep sand gets it stuck too easily. Thanks in advance for any help.

I live in Winter Haven and there is nowhere to ride. Your best bet is Ocala or Croom. Title: Re: In Polk County? Post by: UncleRico on April 30, 2006, 07:08:02 PM River Ranch is the best trail riding in Polk County, but you have to buy land out there or know someone who has land out there. (They allow up to 4 people on the deed, that might be an option if you have 3 other friends looking to invest, in hunting, riding property)
They advertise land on this site I think, but you can also get it off EBAY. I went in with 3 others when it was $1500.00, but last time I checked they were up to $5,000.00 plus. (The positive thing is, they're not making any more land for riding, so, the price is only gonna go up in value, especially with the way Polk County is growing) The only other places I know to ride are MX tracks at Mulberry, Bartow, and Lakeland. Good Luck. Title: Re: In Polk County? Post by: Alba450 on April 30, 2006, 07:18:18 PM Sand Mountain is really nice but there is alot of sand soo I guess you wouldnt be interested ::)
Title: Re: In Polk County? Found a place!!! Post by: Mulchman on May 02, 2006, 09:59:17 PM I went to a riding spot that I had been told was closed. If you are familiar with the Lake Wales area you know of Lake Buffum. Used to go riding there a long time ago (it was on a 3-wheeler, yea I'm old). For the heck of it I took the family out there. Pulled off the road and there was 1 person on an atv. This young fellow was kind enough to guide me back to the old mudhole area. Picture this, the main open area to ride is about a 1/2 mile off the road. With miles of trails to ride on to and from the mudhole. Needless to say the kids had a blast and got muddy. My 7 year old even pretended to be stuck just to get me to try to push her out. She wasn't stuck. She covered me with mud when she took off. Made me proud. This area is perfect. But has a lot of litter so be careful. To get there go south on Highway 27 out of Lake Wales. Turn right on Alturus- Babson Park Cut-off Road. Follow the road til it makes an S turn. The road will curve left then right. When it curves back right the pull off is on the left. Hope this helps someone looking for a place to ride. Wayne

When are you riding out there again? I'd like to go when someone else is out there. Uncle Rico Title: Re: In Polk County? Found a place!!! Post by: Mulchman on May 04, 2006, 07:49:48 AM People were parking just off the road with their trailers. I drove back to the main area so my kids could get something to drink easily. When I left there was about 9 trucks and trailers out by the road. I have to wait til I can get the gas money saved up before I go again. But when I do I'll let you know. Wayne
