How was the turnout in the open class? How did you do Dave and what was the final results in both classes? I think we might have another to ride (Pork Chop) the 400EX in the beginner next time out.

Sorry I couldn't be there, I went to Hardrock instead. I attempted to jump the water tower and almost died. I almost died again on the "roller coaster." ...When I first got there this guy came up to us and was like "i think i broke my wrist", he showed us and he had a compound fracture on both bones in his arm...  :( So, I think im going to do more flat track than mx, im too young to die.. But anyway, the 15th, i'll be there for sure. I should have my lowering kit in by then too so
watch-out.....lol

   This comment coming from the guy (yes you Gary) who has the most hp for a stock bike) and left the open class to run with the beginners.    There is discussion about starting a new points series in May or June so that all the new riders will have a chance to be included. As of now to be included in the points race you had to sign up a few weeks ago and pay $20. There is a banquet and the end and supposed to be awards and door prizes/ gift certificates. More to follow...

There is racing on both the 15th and 22nd. Alot of us will be at both.
 Easter on my calendar is the 16th. Some of us will get with Tim about getting started at 7pm instead of 8:30 like last week and cutting out the intermission. Ware, I think it was more like 4:30am when I got to bed with the time change.

Well we'll have to suggest that. That would probably work if quad classes are run early in the program. The Sprint car guys prefer to run last anyway.

well i sent the cases and crank off to ESR yesterday, so hopefully by the first race in may i will be running this beast!  i have tires ordered they should be here anytime...

  You just need to quit routing the beginners and get back in your own class where you belong especially since you've been flattrackin for over a year now!!!

well having a racing history helps but scott and i are far from pro. it was a decade ago and 40 lbs for scott, only 5 for me!!!! :> we will be back on the 22nd for sure to show yall what the 2-strokes are all about. again.  just be there to see it this time, or to at least see the rear bumpers. lol

Speaking of that, how has that engine held up? How does it compare to your old 380 (I'm guessing Pro-X style stroker) engine? I have a 330 and it has been great, but a 400 always sounds better.

Hey Dreth,

You should be just fine. Since you have raced plenty It will be a real quick transition in to flattrack. The only thing I would say is that at least when I went be careful to not be too agressive in the turns or you will spin out. I know of about 5 spinouts on March 18th and it was almost 6 because I got a little crazy a time or two as well. I look forward to meeting all your crew. See you on the 22nd.

3 minutes after pulling it out of a 6 lap TT race, you can put your hand on the cylinder and leave it there!  It is on a completely stock 400 cylinder w/o even having port work.  It has unbelievable torque for a 2 stroke and is super freakin fast.  I cant describe what that motor is capable of.  4 stroke torque, with 2 stroke mentality!  I would dare say that nothing will handle it on a flat track! Pops built it and perfected it.  He has about 4 more coming w/ 2 of them spoken for.  The most reliable low maintenance high performance R engine I have ever seen! (been doing this since 82')

I might bring the mini out again but it Looks like Ocala's thrill did a little more damage than I initially thought, I went to rip the tie rod apart today and fired the ole mule up. KNOCK KNOCK is all heard. sounded like a little midget in there with a hammer. so I am out of gas until I get it redone. If it is as bad as it sounds I believe a true 450 is in line, Thanks for the pointers steve.

hey dave,  i just thought of something...  you said that you are having you swingarm cut 3 inches on your banshee. when you cut it off that far you have to locate your rear chain guide slide forward or else the rear sprocket will hit.... had that problem on mine. just wanted to let you know so you dont paint it and all that stuff just to figure this out.   ;)
so anyway i guess we will see yall on the 22nd in ocala. cant wait to run again. it was a blast last time.

     Actually I realized the issue with the chain guide mount when I got my first short swingarm but on this one I am going to try to get away without the guide at all. Also I am going to leave it raw and try it out on the 15th before having it powdered. Thanks for the help.See yall the 22nd.

keep in mind... you raced in the beginners class..... dont be too proud.. dont you race all the time? and you have a sponsor? why dont you race in the peewee class? it would be about the same... when you get in the class in which you belong i think youll clue in real quick your bike isnt as fast as you think....
also keep in mind... that the bike that started last is 20yrs old and has half the cc's of all the other bikes in the same class, not to mention its bone stock... and it still finished 4th with a 250lb rider who hasnt raced in 4 months... thats enough to be said about that.. I guess ill have to bring out the shee and shut all you guys up.... it kills me you guys spend 8-10k on a 4 stroke that still gets beat by a $4000-5000 2 stroke... now thats priceless! all you and gary say is "were going to make you spend money".. umm.. didnt YOU guys already do that?

I have flattrack shocks on my banshee but they wont fit.
I hear ya on the dyno thing. i think a 250r makes 30-32hp something like that. they arnt very fast thats for sure but they handle like no other. a stock banshee makes 35hp but they make them in the peak of the powerband. the 10mm cub i had in my drag banshee made 130hp and it wouldnt keep the front down. i thought about putting it im my flattrack bike but i figured i would hurt myself...

i beleave they do make them for the R  Doesnt the Z and 400ex use the same length shock? i think anything over 60hp is just braggin rights unless your on the Strip

I can answer that one. Because we race the Open class and big bores are faster. Don't kid your self either, the Honda 250R was banned from the Nationals or it would still be a force, they had too so people would switch to 4 strokes. The 250R is old now and Honda won't re-release it for what ever reason. But I think Derek and I are proof that they can still be competitive.

The guy who built my banshee said it puts out around 70+hp and tops out at 114mph. I highly doubt it. hp and top speed dont mean anything in mx and tt racing. Anyway, who all is going this weekend? I was thinking about it but its no fun if there is nobody there.

     Like I said before get out of the beginner class and back with experienced riders where you belong, cradle robber! :'(  Also, I wasn't going to say anything about my poor performance last week but since you brought it up it turns out sometime during last Saturday night I lost the filter off the left carb. So not only was that carb full of clay the next day but the plug on the left cylinder is toast, yes it got really lean. Anyway , I have a new filter on the way  and a new plug so I can run with those of you who will be there on the 15th. Maybe I will drop a class so I can be a winner like you.....pffffttttt!!!!  Where's the smiley with his tongue stuck out???

I've got a 265 cc stock cylinder ported by CT. Just for fun and to test what your theory is about 450's verses 265's I would be willing to race you guys on my old 265 (No 500cc big bores No Banshee's and no 330 Hondas) I could drop down into the beginner class one race weekend and see how it would do in a shootout.

P.S. No one likes to be told there bike is a piece of crap, we all have alot invested in what we got, I am stuck with a 250R to race because that's what I got and I can't afford to switch and start over. I personally like my old 2-stroke and plan on proving without a doubt that on any given weekend this bike can run up front. That's all I am saying.

P.S.S. If any of you guys want to Give me sweet 450R or YFZ450 or LTR450R I would be very grateful LOL I have never ridden either of those bikes but from racing against them I know they are fast.

My Banshe is bored out to 402cc with all aftermarket engine parts, bigger carbs, boost bottle, k&n filters w/o airbox, ported, coolhead, Toomey T5 pipes, the whole bottom end is redone, and alot of other thing I dont even know are there. I havent got it dynoed yet.  How much hp should i have?

70hp on stock cylinders on gas is tough to do. unless its STRICKLY  drag motor..

How do you have it bored out to a 402? what size pistons are you running?

hmmmm a 265 with port work and the port timing changed woohoo nothing stock about that motor or cylinder so dont say its stock... thats good for another 20+ hp and lets add a set of cams a timing chain,and 4 vavles and lets see it move all them parts and make that power because it wont your talking about to different times lets give the engine builders 20 years to perfect the 4-stroke motor like they have had on the R then talk

No I meant get your 450's with some engine work but keep it a 450. I know there is a Honda that claims to be stock but is rumored to actually be a big bore 530 kit. Yeah, this cylinder is ported but it is a Stock (Non Pro-X aftermarket style) MX style cylinder not a Drag one so I don't know about 20HP more maybe 5-7HP.

All big bores now have a totally different much more modern better port layout that surpasses anything that can be done to a stock casting cylinder.Unless your talking about the 300cc resleeve but that is for Cross country only.

I went with a 330 motor to cary my big azz around and keep up. With a stock motor I was gettin beat by stock blasters  lol.  HP plus weight makes it even.   :o    Now if I was 150lb yall would be sweating

Man you need to come up just so we can meet you. That 330 should be a force when you get it back together, maybe you can make it the next race.

My ESR 380 PV motor cost me about 4k to build w/ all the stuff i put in and on it!
This 400 motor cost about $1000 in parts and fabrication!  Fortunately, labor is free!  But the cost of this motor is less than anyone could imagine for the performance it provides!

Labor is expensive because of the tuning and fabrication!  I'll see if we can get it out to the track to show you guys how it runs! Not set up for flattrack but at least we can ride!!
